Deep on one of the most remote islands on the planet lives a creature so evil sounding that when westerners first heard it howling through the night, the only name they could come up with was... The Devil.

A little creature, no matter how cute or harmless-looking, engaging in diabolically immoral activities like for example: murder, torture, pedophilia, bestiality, cannibalism, rape, etc still doesn't seem very "cute" to me :/

    • @@jadiellima8922 You "correcting" the terminology used by Soviet Kappa is a blatant act of virtue signaling. "Settlers" is a perfectly fitting word to use in this scenario, considering- He could be talking about the tens of thousands of "Convicts" ,which whom were forcibly taken from their native lands and families, shackled and chained, loaded onto crowded transport ships to be sent to the Penal Colony of Van diemen's land (Tasmania). Considering that 50 percent of modern Tasmanians are descended from these people- who were taken from their native lands and forced to build the foundations and infrastructure of this new Penal Colony, all while being repressed, humiliated, chained and whipped. I think it unfair to try and label all Europeans in the "new world" as "Colonisers", although you're technically correct - this word has certain connotations , especially since you thought to correct Soviet Kappa. There is an obvious Judgment on your behalf of the people that "settled" this Island of Tasmania. For Example, If we were talking about the History of Brazil, imagine if I were to suggest correcting the term "African slaves" to *Colonizers, that would be disrespectful to the memory of these people and also disrespectful to their descendants, wouldn't you agree? Even though they technically were colonisers from the perspective of the indigenous populations . The North Eastern state of Ceará was the first to make slavery illegal in Brazil (which you will surely know) are the children of these newly freed men and women colonisers?, I would consider them settlers, settlers who were also victims of colonisation, just like a huge proportion of European (and non European) Australians. I would try not to make blanket judgements of people without knowing the full story, history is complex, it is nuanced, it isn't black and white.

    • @@user-wb1nz6fq2i Well the oppressors of both the natives and the foreign prisoners surely showed up first. The Europeans had to find the place to turn it into a penal colony and those explorers would have been the first to encounter, and then name the Devil's.
