  • The beauty of squash from two of the best movers on court. It must be appreciated that the game of professional squash is entirely different than the club squash

  • Any Coll game posted is a Coll loss. Which is sort of a backhand compliment.

  • It’s good to occasionally watch a game like this to appreciate how incredibly important aggressive Egyptian squash was in saving spectator squash from boring oblivion. I remember as a kid playing a modified scoring system where an unforced error meant -2 on scoreboard. Seems like these guys are taking it to heart playing ultra safe, wait for opponent’s error style.

    • Their levels of fitness are up there with the world's greatest athletes, and they're playing to their best like Djokovic, Nadal, Federer etc etc. So if you're lucky enough to witness a long match from these guys you've seen something you yourself could never do, be thankful for their prowess and ability in taking the sport forward.

    • Like alluded to by the commentators the playing style would change as the ball dulls out. They play this way with new balls and would change to use the front court more later in the match. Sort of how cricketers adjust their bowls when there's a new ball. That's said there are still enough intricacies to make this style of play interesting for squash fans.

  • For anyone who has assisted to a match live: how’s the view from the side please?? Looks like these places are not selling good i was hesitant buying tickets

    • I really enjoy the sidewall, but I've been playing and watching squash at a fairly high level for over 20 years. The feedback I usually hear from people who may not have as much experience is they find it a little disorienting and harder to judge how good the shots are. It's definitely harder to figure out whether something is a let/stroke sometimes. But you get an incredible view of how quickly players move from the front to the back that you can't fully appreciate from the backwall.

    • I have the opposite perspective as the other commenter. I have played a significant amount of squash, and I quite literally had no idea what was going on when watching the game from the side. It's like playing on a rotated chess board. Seeing the game from a perspective you're not used to threatens to strip it of all meaning until you're used to it. I expect that I'd get a good feel for it if I watched thirty matches like that, but as it is, I found it better to stand very far from the court and peer over the security guard.

  • 25:55 "lol the leisure center boast" is that a derogatory term?

    @outsidethepyramid@outsidethepyramid6 ай бұрын
    • That particular shot earned its name as it's rarely seen in the professional game - mostly appearing in 'leisure centre' squash matches. It can be very effective at catching players off guard!

  • Any type of endless defensive squash style where the winning factor is fitness is so dull to watch. I would count Paul Coll, Joel Makin and Peter Nichol in that camp. . For attritional, read utterly as dull as dishwater to watch. Give me the Ramy and Farag style of squash any day of the week.

    • Squash is made up of many elements with the obvious objective is to win. Watching a patient Cat and Mouse match has its own levels of interest but you must delve deeper to appreciate them. You don't always have to have drama to make a win important or special.

    • Squash isn’t an Olympic sport because there are at least two influential people on the committee that everyone knows about who despise the game and still consider it a rich white man / 80’s yuppie sport. It’s nothing to do with Coll lol
