Not only is he strong but he knows how to wrestle and competes at a high level. Hopefully Bo sees him again. I don't think it will be as close next time look for Cox to have a big throw.

    • I know! To the point of annoyance, but in all fairness, I think a lot of people/fans and casuals love watching him because he's an exciting wrestler. And admittedly, I love watching him too! The guy is a young lion! But sometime hunger isn't enough incentive to be fed. He'll eventually find his place on the international stage (maybe). J-Cox has been wrestling at this level for a minute and he's no one prey. He's probably the best defensive wrestler on the US team and outstanding at dictating pace.

Ive watched Bo many times be so dominant, it was crazy to see him outclassed and more than anything overpowered by cox. Looking forward to seeing some of these guys make their way into the UFC/bellator/one championship. @jeffdarnell7942@jeffdarnell79425 жыл бұрын
    • I think there is more going on. Im not sure when Nickal could have went down to 86, but clearly he could have made 86. Obv Taylor is going to 86 for the olympics, and Nickal vs Downey prob goes to Nickal. 92 isnt an oly weight, so Nickal doesnt want to grow into 92, specially if he thinks his future is 86. Nickal prob cant grow into 97 in time for 2020, and then theres the whole Snyder thing. So basically if Nickal wants to compete for olympic gold his path is 86 though Taylor. The last thing Taylor would want is for Nickal to get a bunch of world experience and paid training at the us training facility. So it makes sense that Taylor would keep Nickal in the dark about being injured. Then if Nickal medals at 2019 Worlds at 86 then the road for Taylor gets a lot tougher. People make the misconception that there is some kind of team mentality in the wrestling room, most of the time its brutal and cut throat.

    • Agreed. Was never fond of the NCAA push 20 yrs ago to increase action by breaking up every second of idling. And today, international is far worse than college. A lot of great set-ups require brief moments of stalling to pull off a technique, but refs are so heavily involved in forcing a continuous high pace. That ruins some tie-up and undertook scenarios, but then again, if we allow refs to use more discretion then it would likely worsen other aspects of the sport. I wish there was a high school folkstyle circuit for world class wrestlers. And why award so many back points for someone repeatedly gator rolling their opponents haha? I know why, to fuel the scoring system. It's stupid! Why is spinning the opponent on the mat 3 times almost enough to win by tech fall? It's easily the dumbest aspect of the modern scoring system. Back points/exposure should be rewarded, but why does rolling the opponent garner the same scoring? It's so illogical that I get worked up even talking about it. 😂 And this is coming from a participant and fan of over 4 decades.

    • I disagree. You’re critiquing freestyle because you’re biased towards collegiate. What’s the difference between holding someone past 90 degrees with unlocked hands vs. getting a quick exposure with locked hands? Well, they serve the same purpose but represent scoring in different sports. The international scene appreciated the technique, speed, and strength required to turn an experienced opponent with a gutwrench or leg lace or crotch lift etc. Overall you’re biased towards collegiate and that’s ok. But don’t go saying one is better than the other in the grand scheme of things. Remember, both styles would get choked out or broken by a bjj black belt because it’s a different sport.

    • The aggressive style Bo uses, which is to wear guys down and throw a bunch of different techniques at them in the 3rd period WILL NEVER work against J-Cox. Bo makes a lot of mistakes, but he's such a bull w incredible cardio, so he'd get away w it all the time in college. That won't work against the top dogs at this level. I think Bo has a great chance to become a gold medal wrestler, but he's going to have to tighten up his game.
