  • I'm sure the cilantro will grow, just put it on top of the dirt. Love what you're doing with the greenhouse.

    • I totally agree, I have done this and the paper towel will breakdown as the seeds grow. Do Not throw them away. lay the paper towel on the pot of soil and sprinkle soil to barely cover them. Spray water them for a few days and the shoots will stand up. add a little more soil around them if needed.

  • Marci, those seedlings will grow. You can even plant part of the paper towel with the little root. It won't bother the plant a bit. You did a great job with those seeds. 😉 just separate them as best you can and plant them. If you cant get some of them apart, just plant them together., it will be fine. Plants are actually pretty tough.

  • Goose is such a good doggy 🐕💙⭐. He's always following either Maverick or you Crandall. Good boy Goose!!! I just LOVE WAFFLES 🐖❤!!! So cute and funny how the goats walk over Waffles 😅. Seems like mostly all Turkeys are aggressive. Maybe they sense the fact that they are usually hunted??? He sure is a handsome Turkey for sure. Maybe if you get him a "special treat" you only give him???

  • Marci I started my sunflowers like that. I put a wet paper towel in a shallow bowl and kept them with a little water daily. My flowers got 7 inches tall. Plant those seeds in a pot @The Eldridge Family and I promise they will grow. I kept them in a large deep flower pot on my deck.

  • Those cilantro seeds that sprouted will grow! Spraying the paper towel would get them of but it wouldn't have hurt them. Sorry you threw them away because they were still good. It's actually the whole point of what Marcy did, get them to sprout. And for the rest of the stuff don't worry about breaking some of the roots, there is enough there to let it grow just fine.

  • I think the seeds that Marci sprouted would have been ok if she put them in a pot and covered with a little bit of soil. I had a similar experience when my husband passed away. We had already bought plants and seeds for the garden. The plants were left outside and rained on many times. What I didn’t know was that the seed packets were under the plants. A week later I thought I would plant the plants and found the seeds all sprouted. So I planted the seeds anyway. Every seed grew. I didn’t put a lot of dirt over them.

  • Since the paper towel is biodegradable, why not lay the paper towel on top of the dirt and just dust the top with a little dirt. Marcie, stop doubting yourself ❤. Gardening is full of mistakes that have worked out well. That’s how you learn. BTW, have you thought about planting a few plants/flowers in your garden that will repel destructive insects? Gary Walker is trying it. Marigolds will repel mosquitoes. Everything will come together as you finish projects. Great job Marcie and Crandall. God’s blessings

When he lets him up the turkey walks away in the other direction. Marci those would have grown, you should have planted the whole thing in pot with thin layer of dirt over top , they would have grown. Do not give up you are doing great with learning to grow things.

  • Marci don't feel bad, I've done the same thing with seeds before. Gardening is such a LEARNING PROCESS of what works and what doesn't!!! You should plant some pots of MARIGOLDS, they totally help cut down on BUGS IN THE GARDEN!!! Plant them around the edges of your large garden also. I personally love the smell of them and orange and yellow are my favorite colors (with green 💚🧡💛). Pepper 🫑🌶️ plants do great in pots... then after the season you cut them back 1/3 and trim ALL the leaves off of the plant. They will hybronate 🫑 🌶️ until the next year and you can do this for around 10 years each plant. So sweet how Maverick has his tractors ALL AROUND 🚜 🛠️in the dirt. Reminds me of when my son was a little guy (now 26). MY son was exactly like Maverick 💙✨, and he was always climbing trees 🤦. So wonderful you two have That HUGE GREENHOUSE 🌱🌿!!!! Crandall that was SO MUCH WORK getting it and putting It up!!! Amazing how Your Property Gas Transformed since before the Twins were born!!! How are the new laying chickens doing? How many eggs are you getting? Noticed you haven't planted any cucumbers yet this year and last year you had hundreds!!! You could can them with onions (like you have time). Great Job Crandall and Marci 💙🩷✨🙌!!! You Two Rock!!! OMG I still haven't mailed out the T-shirt I got you Marci. I've been sick and I care for my 85 year old Mother who has Alzheimer's. Praying 🙏 the weather doesn't get very bad for y'all. Western Upstate NY Here ❤

  • Many potting soils become hydrophobic-tending to repel water-when they dry out, and are difficult to re-wet. Gardeners may see water draining out the bottom of a pot and assume that means that the soil is saturated. But the water might be running between the side of the pot and the hydrophobic root ball instead, barely wetting the outer surface and leaving the center of the root ball dead dry. Small seedlings from nurseries are particularly prone to this, especially if they have become rootbound. It can happen to large container plants as well.

I pray that it is still around because it works great for blisters. • Why not utilise the plastic pots for now as starter pots, especially for the mints and other aggressive growing plants? They can be split and repotted later as they fill the pots with their roots. Also they could be up on pallets for convenience so no bending down to tend to them. We always used to plant mint around the septic tanks to stop smells and insects like mosquitoes. Mint leaves in a bottle of water is si refreshing in summer. Also I liked a peppermint leaf in my coffee some mornings. Things are happening around the place and it is lovely to see. ❤

If you built it with the black cover it would block some of the sun so it’s not so hot especially as you can raise the sides a bit during the hot summer days plus give you privacy and as you did such a great job it’s an option as well for now until you can build a permanent shop 😊

  • Great job Crandall. Gardening tips: If you can buy green onions (spring onions) or chives with roots attached, you can also put them in a jar or water and they will keep growing. When your lettuce (or cabbage) starts growing, just pick some leaves from the heads - do not remove the plant and it will continue to regenerate. If you remove the very outer layer of a strawberry (which contains the seeds) you can lay it on some soil, cover with about 1/4" of dirt, water lightly and place an upside down clear plastic cup on top to create a mini greenhouse effect and it will grow.

  • Marci, Google medicinal uses for spearmint. Its great for making a salve for muscle aches. Peppermint you can use for tooth aches and even migraines. Just dry the leaves and make a tea. Also great for anxiety. I know as productive you are even as a city girl you're gonna do amazing things. I'm 65 and been around a block or 2 and I'm impressed with you so much! Be Blessed. Also gardening like everything else is learned. Your doing amazing hang in there!😁

  • May I suggest you get a shade cloth if you haven't already, you'll definitely need it. Being here in Oklahoma, you can call Leon Sloan (Gardening With Leon) and order one to fit and his crew will throw it on the trailer to be picked up near Riverwind in Norman. They take orders and meet there every Friday afternoon for pick ups! Super great guy and company if you aren't familiar with them!
