This is the Audi e-tron S Sportback!
It’s the sporty variant of Audi’s first all-electric SUV, and Mat’s got his hands on it for the first time! The question is, how much will it differ compared to the usual e-tron?
Well before we even look at how back seat & boot space is effected, we need to talk about performance! Given that this is the S edition, it’s graced with THREE electric motors to produce 503hp and almost 1,000Nm of torque!
So it’s clearly not lacking in power! But how does it the sloping roofline effect headspace in the back? And more importantly, even with that mammoth amount of torque, is this S edition actually worth the huge £89,000 price tag?!

Personally I like the front grill. It makes the concept of an electric car a lot less alien and different looking, versus doing so by removing a lot of conventional car features

@@FLRSKLVR there is no shame in admitting that when Asians design their own cars, it always ends up being very boring. In my eyes, that actually represents how much the Japanese value form over function. It’s like how the Germans actually make Italian sports cars but let them design them. It’s just that copying is something I will always frown upon.

Slightly looks like an enlarged ford focus from the side, though overall seems to have many design cues from the Urus; not surprised here as they've been borrowing from their imported brands a few times.
It’s an SUV, it’s always going to look like a melted block of cheese no matter what “extra trim” they fit on to it.

I’ve got an Audi e-tron 50 Quattro, beautiful car. While it isn’t as quick as a Tesla, or doesn’t have the range, everything else about it, is on another level IMO. Build quality and ride comfort far superior. Looks better too.

It is more expensive, does not fit 7, no supercharger, no autopilot, much lower range, lower speed, no videogame mode, no Netflix, no camping mode, no DOG/BABY safe mode, no panoramic glass top, no fart mode... for me the math is very simple... it is 6 years behind Tesla if you consider the new models being lauched right now.

Glad to see that in this case, unlike the Tucson, the light bar was "not" copied from Seat Leon, and the tail lights where "not" copied from Peugeot 3008.

You forgot to mention the virtual mirrors that replace the standard mirrors in favor of screens on the inside (also reduces drag and increases range slightly). Really changes the look, when I first worked on those it was a bit strange but now its just funny.

Way too heavy and expensive. Fancy lights don't make up for no cup holders in the rear.
Ikr also only 503 hp and 240 miles range which is garbage compared to teslas. I don't want a tesla but the competition is taking sooo long to catch up its annoying. Audi basically put bricks in it to make it weigh 2.7 tonnes. And for the price anyone would want to get a petrol car instead

Audi has always had nice looking cars, but i don't think i'd buy one myself. However this car looks cheap and i don't know why. The grill and all the sideskirts looks like cheap plastic, but they aren't the only one guilty of doing that.

For me it just doesn't look good. It looks heavy and over-designed, like the designers didn't know when to stop adding bits and pieces everywhere. I'm not a big Fan of Teslas super-minimalistic design too, but a middle-ground like the new C-Class for example just feels way more desireable for me personally, it looks more "naturally elegant" and well thought trough.
i love it personally. Far more interesting than the blobby eqc and almost toned down when compared to the ix or whatever BMW's equivalent is being called. That said, to be fair to it, people will buy the Sportback for the slightly more aggressive over-styled look in comparison to a standard non s line e Tron so i think the added styling parts is justified to a certain degree. And I am not a fan of the c class, the outgoing model yes, but the brand new one no thanks. Feels like Mercedes is going backwards with its design philosophy lately which is a shame. Brilliant cars but styling wise internally and externally its not for me but again brilliant cars. Sorry this is long, could go on for hours talking about design

The normal etron can Look incredibly good, much better than this sportback.... It looks way different in person too, More of like a A6 than a Q Model as its pretty low
The normal etron in dark Blue with the black pack looks way better because youre right, this just looks overdone in this spec
Better still, buy a second hand small hatchback for about £5,000 and spend the remaining £85,000 on property and investments.
I think this sportback etron is quite a looker especially in S guise!

the Ioniq 5 which is at least a full category below the etron sportback in terms of size and price has a towing limit of 1.6 tons - only 200kg less. It offers about the same charging speed and due to it being lighter drives further on one charge and that with a smaller battery...

What happened to the “Camera mirrors” they were deffo rubbish coz everyone was n is complaining about it!
Got them on my Etron S Sportback and regretted choosing that option. Flat image doesn’t help understanding the surrounding plus, condensation between the camera and the glass creates glare and « fog » on the screen. No wonder why you don’t see them on the new GT or upcoming Q4 Etron
It's an option and I don't think they're available in every country due to regulations.

We can’t have the full power at all times for 2 main probable reasons. 1. Motor tech isn’t sufficient enough as of yet to be able to use full power at a constant rate w/o burning them out fairly quickly. And 2. Having that much power available at a constant would both use up the batteries charge as well as wear out the batteries storing capabilities really quite quickly, as battery tech is also something we are not quite at a level with where they could handle extreme’s in stress as well as we’d want rn. There are prob other reasons as well but to me, those would be the most significant.

If you're on the road all the time, I wouldn't even consider an EV yet, the UK charging infrastructure is dreadful at the moment. Maybe I'll consider one in 10 years! I also think the efficiency of a lot of EV cars is not great.
Not to mention that our fuel will be mixed with ethanol, reducing emissions an oil consumption, plus there is all this Synthetic fuel tomfoolery that Porsche is developing. ICE is not dead yet and it never will be. The future is mixed.
Tesla has a lot chargers and the best range too.
How about I pay 1/10 of the price per mile (1p), service item at 1 year... Screen wash. Quiet, faster than 99% of ice cars , maybe you should try sitting in an ev.
Bit worried about cars which change braking dynamics at all (never mind based on what the sat Nav thinks). Inconsistent braking dynamics is a problem with almost all electric cars, and I know several people have been close to being caught out (expecting brakes to do one thing but they do another).
