5 . Craig Harrison
In November 2009, Craig Harrison of the UK's Household Cavalry became a certified Guinness World Record Holder by killing two Taliban insurgents from a distance of 2.47 km (1.54 mi). It took the 8.59 mm rounds almost 3 seconds to hit their targets, which were 914 m (3,000 ft) beyond the L115A3 sniper rifle's recommended range. A third shot took out the insurgent's machine gun as well.
4. Matt Hughes
During the first years of the Iraq War, Royal Marines crack shot Corporal Matt Hughes was ordered to take out an Iraqi holding back a vital advance during a fierce gale, and the sharpshooter pulled off an incredible feat of marksmanship by perfectly gauging the wind speed to bend the bullet to its target. The 7.62 calibre round from Matt's L96 sniper rifle curved 56 feet in the air before slamming into the Iraqi's chest, killing him instantly.
3. killed six with a single bullet
In December 2013, a Unnamed British sniper in Afghanistan killed six insurgents with a single bullet after hitting the trigger switch of a suicide bomber whose device then exploded! The 20-year-old marksman's target was 930 yards (850 metres) away, and it prevented a major attack by the Taliban, as a second suicide vest packed with 20kg (44lbs) of explosives was found nearby.
2. Chris Kyle
U.S. Navy Chief Chris Kyle of SEAL Team Three had 255 kills, 160 of which are officially confirmed by the Pentagon, during four deployments to Iraq between 2003 and 2009. Kyle holds the title of deadliest marksman in US military history. During the Second Battle of Fallujah alone, when US Marines fought running battles in the streets with several thousand insurgents, he killed 40 people. The film American Sniper is based on his autobiography, with Kyle portrayed by Bradley Cooper.
1.Carlos Hathcock
Carlos Hathcock was a genuine Vietnam War hero and an undisputed legend in the U.S. Marine Corps for his exploits in southeast Asia. With a record of 93 confirmed kills but an estimated body count of between 300 - 400 enemy soldiers, Hathcock terrorized the North Vietnamese Army. Because of these exploits, he was honored by having a rifle named after him - the Springfield Armory M25 "White Feather", so called for the nickname that NVA men gave him because he always wore a white feather in his cap.

  • Simo Hayha, 500+ kills using his own hunting rifle. Turned down a sniper rifle partly because he said the glass on the sights could give away his position. He used an open sight and could lay in the snow for very long periods without moving, he even put snow in his mouth to prevent his breath from showing in the cold air. He did get shot in the face at one point but survived and died of natural causes aged 96. The White Death. Legend!

    • Harrison's scope was only capable of going 26 mil (milliradians) vertical. He effectively calculated 49 mils! Using his 1,500 meter range .338 rifle, he actually had to aim his shot 398 feet above the Tali's head to hit him. Harrison figured out that by the time his bullet reached its target it was only traveling about 40 mph. The guy probably wouldn't have been killed if he had been wearing body armor.

  • Carlos Hathcock... never heard of him before. :-) I was actually present when the picture they show of him being helped to stand was taken. That was taken at Weapons Battalion Quantico Virginia at his much overdue Silver Star ceremony. He rescued several Marines from a burning Amtrak after it hit a mine and suffered third-degree burns over much of his body which is when the military discharged him. I had the pleasure of meeting him twice because my scoutmaster was his commanding officer and good friend.

It took an armor piercing bullet to finally pull it off at this short distance. And yet Hathcock did it at hundreds of yards. The other part of this remarkable feat is the enemy had a scope that wasn't shielded. Never saw a scope like that before.

I saw the M70 barrel and it looked like a smooth bore. IDK how he hit anything with it. It and the m53 with the shot out scope are in the Marine Corp Museum. If the sun wasn't in the Cobra's eyes, making him a flinch slower, he would have sent one they that Unertal and Gunny admitted that. If you're interested his biography is titled MARINE. • It appears, almost too clearly to doubt, that Kyle was recruited to defame Jesse Ventura (who exposed the FEMA camps, kill/re-educate/keep as-is lists, the millions of coffins FEMA has stored up, that Ron Paul donators go on a list as dangerous to the future, post-coup state, and etc.) Then, it became clear Kyle exaggerated many stories and seems to have completely prevaricated others (sniping looters from the top of a football dome during New Orleans flooding, e.g.) Then, a suit was filed by Ventura, to prove Kyle lied. Then, a man on meds (ALL mass killers in malls and schools have been on meds), shot him. Many believe he was an SRA super soldier, activated before the Black Awakening in order to kill Kyle before he exposed he had been recruited- something they (they = secret society satanists.) always do- kill off loose ends. They believed they could create a double-edged sword: vilify Ventura for suing a widow (actually untrue, the suit was defended by the Kyle’s insurance firm), or, if Ventura lost, they could say it was true. But, Jesse Ventura won, proved his innocence (all of the people who testified to support Kyle... their stories were inconsistent with things Kyle said and inconsistent with each other as well.) **** So, a great sniper, great soldier... but, with an asterisk.

  • Speaking of six with one bullet, I seem to recall an ISIS executioner who loved to use his flamethrower to incinerate his victims. One day he had a bunch of villagers lined up, ready to fire them up, when a British sniper lined up on his fuel tank and lit him up. The resulting fireball took out the executioner plus all his ISIS buddies standing around. The villagers all escaped into the hills.

To eat the same food the Vietnamese ate so he would sweat the same odors. To learn how to live off less food and water to reduce his bodily functions to the Absolute Minimum. To learn how to conceal anything discharged from his body so not to give himself away. The list goes on but Carlos Hathcock didn’t Read the book ... He Wrote the book.

I talked with a guy who claimed to be a sniper in the service who said they got asked to mess up infrastructure in a pin-point way quite often - those were 2 examples he had. And one was done to a watercraft that was docked on a river/canal system... Airport waiting room discussion at Dulles, waiting to board a flight to Dallas - right across from the 5 guys ;)

  • It's not the number of kills that makes a man a top sniper. It's also his bravery in getting close to the target without regard for his own life. Carlos Hathcock was the number one sniper and always will be. Any reasonable shot can take out 500 targets at 1000 yards but is he brave enough to get within 100 yards of the target when there are 1000's of enemy all round him ? You should try it some day. Hathcock was the bravest of the brave.
