6. Desert Eagle
This semi-automatic handgun contains the largest centerfire cartridge of any magazine-fed, self-loading pistol. The Desert Eagle was designed by Magnum Research, Inc. and is known for its regular appearance in movies, television shows, and video games.
5. Smith & Wesson .500
When it comes to lethal handguns, the 50-caliber Smith and Wesson 500 takes the cake. Known as the “mack daddy of revolvers,” its stopping power is such that the gun surpasses the caliber necessary for practical use. In fact, the 500’s killing power has been equated with that of high-powered rifles. To give you an idea, rounds fire at speeds of up to 2,075 feet per second.
4. Smith and Wesson XVR 460 Magnum
Introduced in 2005, the Smith and Wesson XVR 460 Magnum is a large bore five-shot, single-action/double action revolver. Chambered for the .460 Smith and Wesson Magnum Cartridge, the 460 Magnum is rumored to be the most powerful 45-caliber handgun on Earth.
3. Smith and Wesson Model 29
Not surprisingly, the master of handguns makes our list of the world’s most powerful pistols for a third time. The Smith and Wesson Model 29 Classic is built on the philosophy that if something isn’t broken, there’s no need to fix it.
2. Marlin BFR
Manufactured by Magnum Research, the Marlin BFR is also known as the Magnum Research BFR. While BFR was originally an acronym intended to stand for “big frame revolver,” many people have appropriately redesignated it to stand for “big f’ing revolver.”
1. Thompson Center Contender G2
Like the Marlin BFR, the Thompson Center Contender G2 is compatible with the .47-50 Government rifle cartridge. You can also use a .44 magnum slug or a .410 shotgun shell with the break-action single-shot pistol, which has parts that are interchangeable with its “big brother,” a Thompson Center hunting rifle.

  • I have the S&W .460 and absolutely LOVE it. I like the flexibility of being able to shoot different cartridges and the thing is just plain fun to shoot. My reloads put a 220 grain ballistic tip bullet to 2300 fps in the 8"+ barrel. The thing is really incredible.

    • Paul M. My neighbor has 460 in that Thompson Katahdin. 18 inch. I had the 500 and 45/70. They are light and id compare the 500 to a 458 wm with 500 gr with a full dose of acc 2230. I know big horny armory has the 500 but a 460 would be awesome. I've good luck with the Hornady flextips. For shits. I have a ruger m77 375 h&h converted to 460 weatherby being built I got a box of 250gr mono flex for 45/70 and and loaded that in the weatherby. Guessing 250 at 3400 plus full charge 127 gr 8700. Be higher velocity with 4350

  • I was very lucky to grow up and shoot some of these great guns actually from the age of 12 . My father was in a mental institution and a great man gave me a job in a gun and archery shop and range sweeping floors . Many customers understood my situation and took me shooting with them and I have many memories . One being I watched Mike Dubber one of the great master engravers doing his art work to guns . What a thrill it was . I ended up selling firearms for many years as I became of age . I also got to touch the .44 Automag . Serial number .007 . And I touched many S&W model 29 and others . Clint Eastwood , and the first showing of the movie Deliverance I will never forget . And I will also never forget that great man Don Castrup for giving me a past I will never forget . As well as all of the great people I met along my lifetime ! Keep up the great work everybody !

    • @@marvinthiessen3454 There's definitely something about the look and feel of a good, wood-stocked gun for me too, they were works of art, not heartless mass produced stampings of cold metal and plastic. Poetically speaking, they have no soul. I have a 1850's caplock muzzle loader I feel that way about. When I worked construction, I used to say I left a little blood in every house, a figurative offering to the Lares and Penates - my father just said, "be more careful", realist that he was.

  • Many ages back, I was gifted a TC Contender with several barrels. One of the barrels is a scoped .222 Remington 14" and it came with a custom cartridge recipe for reloading. I followed the recipe and when I got everything all dialed in, my patterns would fit on a quarter at the 200 yard range, and I'm not that good a shot. It's a family treasure!

  • Can't imagine the "Long cartridges" being able to burn the powder fast enough. Must look like a flame thrower at night. I have to agree with a previous poster about a lot of these not being handguns. I was at the range years ago and there was some gun on the end rifle table right next to the pistol range where I was shooting. The range was empty and when we stopped shooting he started to bend my ear about how great his contender was at a 100 yards. It had about a 14" barrel, scope, and even a little bipod. I wanted to shoot off hand @100 yards, 3 shots for $20 and he would not do it. If you can't hold it in a hand or two hands, it ain't a handgun.

  • I would like to fire all these guns. I love hanguns because of their size and ease of transport. These guns are on a level that is insane! I own a Walther P40 that I just love. I also own a Marlin 22 longrifle. It is an older gun that I bought from a friend and restored. It is my house gun. I keep it next to my bed loaded with 22 hollowpoints, 15 of them. God help anyone who were to break into my house. It would not go well for them. I am a 67 year old woman who lives alone and these 2 guns make me feel safe. I plan to buy some more guns, mostly handguns, in the future. Thanks for a great video.
