  • I was one of those children who was groomed on Likee. When i was around 14 and the app had just been released, it very much had those qualities from the beginning. I went on live and just looking at the camera I had accrued thousands of viewers. All the comments were were just “bend over”, “bet you can’t touch your elbows together”, or “handstand please”. It is horrible to look back on, but I didn’t understand whatsoever because I was just a kid.

  • with the rise in school shootings and predators everywhere being more comfortable directly targeting kids, I’m really having second thoughts about wanting to be a parent in the future. I wouldn’t want them to resent me for being so extremely overprotective but at the same time I could not be content with the paranoia that this kind of thing can occur on literally any corner of the internet, these people will always find a way to slip through the cracks.

      @theekhalilabre@theekhalilabre Жыл бұрын
    • Being a parent has never been easy. You become a parent because you want to raise up a human to love and watch grow in the world. There’s always risks in life. Allowing an app to dissuade you from becoming a parent is shortsighted and sad. I know you’re being hyperbolic, but think long and hard about this. Incentives? The incentives to being a parent is being a parent. It’s to parent. It’s not to show off your child online. You research, arm yourself with knowledge, teach your children, communicate with them, give them the tools you gain. You do your best. You stay vigilant while allowing them enough freedom (age appropriate) to explore and grow in the world. You love your children. That’s what you do. Evil has always existed. So has goodness and love. One more thing, you don’t do it alone. Make sure you pick a worthy partner to share the parenting duties with who you can share a life with. A child’s best defense is a great team behind them. Look at statistics of single parent children. Children of 2 parents are much less statistically likely to become victims or fall In with the wrong crowds. Just facts. People, especially women, that don’t have children end up deeply regretting that decision much more often than not. Especially when they truly wanted them. You’ll do fine if you keep your head on straight 👍 This concludes your dose of unsolicited advice for the day. 😁

    • If you do decide to have kids (and it's no big deal if you dont) then make sure you teach them how to recognize predatory behavior and make sure they know and feel comfortable enough to come to you if they have suspicions or feel weird about someone or something they found online or even in person. Building a good relationship of trust with your kid can help you keep them safe.

      @wolvie1618@wolvie1618 Жыл бұрын
    • I never wanted kids anyway bc as a female that would mean having to give birth to them and that’s just not something I’m willing to do, but the current state of the world just makes me more and more confident in my decision. To the point where if I did want them I’d feel guilty about it and have to seriously question it. Don’t forget global warming too, war, political instability, it’s all just so awful.

      @mrkrabstinysadviolin1400@mrkrabstinysadviolin1400 Жыл бұрын
    • Honestly this is my thought too. But even though I don't think I want biological children, I do want to adopt because I think there's far too many kids in the system. Either way, its terrifying to think the things I'll probably need to have discussions about in the future.

  • My question is how has the FBI not shut this down already... Hauls livestock huh?...sounds more like a trafficking ring driver..

    @RH-km5wj@RH-km5wj Жыл бұрын
    • I work in cybersecurity and hopefully this can be helpful. My most simple explanation is that no one has ever tipped the FBI about this, therefore they may not be aware. There may not be an active case on this that is at the federal level. However, when it comes to digital investigations, those take time as investigators have to go through so many steps to ensure the evidence is being handled carefully and legally so it doesn’t get thrown out of court. Now I know in the video it was said a parent went to the police when they found their 10 year old being groomed. But it also takes time for police departments to investigate it fully, which is probably why more isn’t being done at the moment. They need as much evidence as possible before they can proceed with an investigation. It is possible that whatever that parent gave was probably not enough for police to do anything with, and they were probably told to block the predator.

  • It's a scary time to have a child. My 8-year-old has wanted TikTok for years, and I ended up deleting my own to avoid being a massive hypocrite. She knows exactly what a predator is, what to look out for, and that threats from strangers are empty and sad. The only media I let her have is KZhead, and monitor the accounts she follows. Even then, I still overhear inappropriate things on channels obviously aimed at kids, that I'd previously pre-approved for her to watch. And, I'm a very lax parent in what I think is and is not okay. i.e. cussing or horror related content is not something I care much about. I'm thankful I can talk with her openly about why things are dangerous or not okay for kids and she even if she gets bummed about losing a channel she likes, she's understanding. Her grandma is the principal at her school and I think I'm going to send this video to her just in case this isn't already on her radar for the kids at the school. Horrifying, stomach-turning stuff

    • Very good that your daughter knows how to avoid things like that. Unfortunately these people finds new ways all the time and some children are very easily manipulated to do things that they shouldn't be doing and don't even want to but got lured into it. I have talked about this a lot with my son(9) and he is very aware, he doesn't want to have his pictures anywhere, he doesn't want any social media accounts,although some others his age have and I supervise his internet use. He only has one account for couple of gaming things but even those I supervise. He never chats with anyone and in online games he may publicly comment something but never private. His age is not visible anywhere either. I have told him that he will get to havea social media account when he is 13, if he then wants one, but even then it will come with plenty of rules. I am very protective of him because I myself am a survivor. Back then there was no internet before I became a teen. But already then in the first chat rooms(and virtual world called alpha world) there were many sickos trying to talk to minors.

  • When I was around 11 I remember I had this app, and I never posted but my friend did and I was in her lives, and they were so innocent too and the things I remember people saying were disgusting. I'm so glad I never posted, both my friend and I deleted the app and I'm glad we were fortunate enough to not have anything worse happen. I really appreciate you making this video to spread awareness. None of these kids deserve this, no one does and some peoples parents never taught them internet safety as mine did. This app somewhat reminds me of the Whisper app that had some of the same stuff going on a while ago.

  • Thank you for sharing awareness of this disgusting app. I saw your friends video on it and her reaction is very much of shock. I have a 10 year old who has a phone but thankfully has never mentioned this app and is very much unaware of it. I control the only social media she has that she uses to talk to her dad and that side of her family and mine but I’m very much in control of everything and check multiple times a day 😂 as she’s starting high school (I’m in the UK so it’s secondary school here) next September, we got her a phone so she can learn how to use it properly for then. She doesn’t have Tik tok, Insta or this disgusting app. I would never allow it at 10. I was shocked when you mentioned about a 10 year old being practically groomed on this app. What are 10 year olds parents’ thinking in letting them having these apps?!? 🐢 nice to see you posting! Love your videos dude 🐢

I knew what reputation the app had (a family member had it) and i didn't do anything about it. I still feel guilty about it.
