    • Absolutely this. And most resources, as far as doctors, specialists, and aid that schools can give have to have a valid diagnosis. This is the hell I'm going through with my son who recently developed ticks, most likely because he has autism. I can't get any of the help he really needs until he's ticked for so long and they also want him to have a scan of his brain. Thank goodness that's happening in June, and something will be done soon, because he's so miserable right now.

    • I don't know where the "self diagnosis" thing started in USA, but I would like to tell ya'll something. The latin autistic and ADHD community started to say that self diagnosis is more or less okay because is really hard to get an official diagnostic, specially if you're autistic or ADHD, and even more if you're a grown female, living in latinamerica. I'm from Argentina and I've been trying to get my autism diagnosis since 2020 and I still can't get it even though my neurologist said that I am indeed autistic. But that's because mental health professionals are really bad in latinamerica. And although the community says that self diagnosis is valid at some point, they still promote professional treatment and offer help to those who had a hard time looking for a good professional.

    • True. I actually am mentally ill and have some issues but I don't wear it on my sleeve. I dress goth/alt from time to time because I'm really into fashion. Most of the time I'm glam or girly. I've always been into dying my hair because it's something that's been done for me since I was little. However non of these things I do because I'm mentally ill. I do them because it makes me happy. I dyed my hair when I was a child and I was completely normal back then. Even though I do have problems I don't wanna be looked at as one of these tiktok weirdos. The only time my illness is reflected in my clothes is when I wear baggy things to hide me or wear sweats and joggers cuz I'm sad and can't do better. Dying ur hair and wearing different clothes shouldn't label u as ill.

All my male "friends" from gaming would not stop making disgusting jokes about me having just had a mental breakdown or been assaulted making me dye my hair? All the comments on the first pic I posted were by dudes who never comment on my page were making weirdly sexualized mental health comments as well as if they think blue hair doesn't just = mentally ill, but also easy to bed? Or men being like "oh blue hair? they broke up she's finally single guys". Which isn't that kinda telling on themselves? Like, oh "blue hair? I bet she's mentally ill and will want to have sex with me"....???

  • This shit gets me so mad. Mental illness isn’t some quirky trait, its a serious problem. I grew up with my grandma who had schizophrenia. It was scary because most times she wouldn’t take her medication. She tried to kill me and my sister once because she thought we were possessed by the devil. I had to pry her hands off my sisters throat as she was choking her, my sister was 5 and I was 11. She then would get taken into the hospital, get medicated, and not have one memory of what she did. This was a repeating pattern. I take this topic pretty serious as usually there’s little help out there for the seriously mentally ill. That’s why a lot end up homeless. The resources for in hospital stays and treatment has dwindled greatly over the last 30 years. Having kids faking mental illness for clout isn’t going to help the situation. Trash behavior.

I never had to deal with that with my cousin as he was in prison my whole childhood, since he carjacked a woman and her 9 year old was still in the car when he drove off. He recently got out about 4 years ago, and just last november stabbed my mom in the arm severing the artery and fracturing her skull. Luckily she had a great team of doctors who were able to save her life and that arm. She now suffers from ptsd and the mere wind blowing sends her into flashbacks thinking he's behind her even though she is aware that he was sentenced to a 10 year stay in prison for that one (she requested he serve his time in a mental institution but good old state of florida said nah we will throw him in prison so his mental health declines more and the government gets free labor🤦). Heck even from me and my siblings perspective getting a call that she was intubated and sewed back up but we had to have a password and her alias to call for any information, and even the fact that it was our ill cousin was a special brand of trauma. I find myself back and fourth knowing he needs help but glad hes locked up in prison. Like i know in my soul he should be in a mental health facility, but in some part of my body I wanted vengeance even when my mom didn't. Lol) but in order to maintain their non profit status, they have to offer something called Charity Care. They will probably have you call their financial department for this, but they HAVE to give you an application, no matter the circumstances. If youre a low income individual and your application is approved, you can have your hospital bill completely absolved. I hope this helps in any way for those who are looking for treatment for themselves or a loved one 💜

As I got older, I found pride in being autistic and open with telling people about that part of me. But nowadays, I often get asked by people after they hear that I'm autistic if I'm "actually autistic" or self-diagnosed from tiktok since I "look too normal". I also meet people online and when I tell them I'm autistic, they say "me too, I'm just not diagnosed!!" It's disheartening to see something that affects my everyday life be used as a loose label for their identity without properly researching and getting tested, or doubt my experience because of other people's grabs for attention swaying their view.

  • Quick PSA from someone with tics: With the ticsandroses seeming to stop themself before they hit the tomatoes, some people with tics do actually do that as part of a tic. For example, when I have a tic that makes me throw something it looks like I’m holding it back but it’s just part of the tic in that I freeze before I throw it. I have quite the a few freezing tics. My whole point is, even though they were faking, if you see someone else doing something similar, give them the benefit of the doubt please because it’s so harmful to someone who actually has tics to be fake claimed. Secondly, most people with tics do not tic all the time. The diagnostic criteria for tourettes includes tics ALMOST daily and to have tics appear before 18, not necessarily in early childhood. I can go a whole day without a single tic and most days I have no tics for about an hour after I wake up. Also, talking about tics tends to make them worse. Again, you cannot actually tell if someone is faking or not unless it is explicitly proven, like it was with ticsandroses’ sister. So please don’t fake claim, especially if you don’t have tics! Everyone with tics is different. Thank you!

  • I’m diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder and this recent TikTok trend with kids faking disorders have made it really difficult for me to say I have the disorder because people immediately doubt if I actually have the disorder meanwhile, if I said that I have Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder, people would immediately believe me and the disorder is misrepresented most of the time so people assume it looks a way it doesn’t. I want to add that the official global population for DID is 1.5% and it’s a form of Complex PTSD developed in adults who were abused as kids, the onset of distinctive (keyword is distinctive) symptoms appears later on in life though due to dissociative barriers breaking down.

    @NightPain@NightPain Жыл бұрын
    • The second part of this comment isn't entirely true. The disorder is developed in a child under the age of 9, before the typical human brain coalesces into one cohesive personality, not in adulthood. New alters can form at any point in time, but the disorder itself starts in early childhood. While it's true that many people with DID aren't aware of it early on, the symptoms definitely do exist in childhood and adolescence. The whole purpose of the disorder is to dissociate away from trauma, so obviously the symptoms of dissociation have to be present. It wouldn't be an effective coping mechanism if the dissociation didn't start until years after the trauma. In my body/brain, certain alters were aware of each other as early as middle school, but we were laughed at for suggesting we might have multiple personalities because all middle schoolers are kind of insane and have no idea who they are. We got labeled with depression, then bipolar disorder, then finally borderline personality disorder when people finally started believing our descriptions of what we were experiencing. We didn't know the word "dissociate" or how to describe "alters" at the time, but we knew that there was more than one person and that something like bipolar disorder didn't describe our symptoms at all. All those years ago, we actually had people say, "If you actually had multiple personalities, you wouldn't know about them." So just keep in mind that DID is a disorder that varies as much as the situations that cause it to begin with. While certain patterns are common, there is absolutely no universal truth in DID other than it being a childhood trauma-based disorder. The awesome brains that create it don't follow a rulebook or any set of guidelines; it's pure reactionary survival.

According to the ICD-11, it’s common for the symptoms to present after removal from a traumatic situation or after being retraumatised (that’s what I was referring to) and the alters are aware of each other though very quickly. I’m referring to the large chunk of diagnosed / undiagnosed systems who become disabled as they grow older with the disorder

When the whole fake mental illness tik toy started appearing, suddenly everyone had the same disorder; they started to change, as well as suddenly they had DID out of nowhere, and the amount of alters they had would always keep switching; they would go from nearly 100 (175) to 80 something. I can't remember, but the alters I can tell you they had were the typical Babboyhalo, Skeppy, and DSMP alter. The most concerning alter they've had was a Ted Bundy Alter or Jeffrey Dahmer, but when we asked him to show us proof they had DID, they didn't, even though in the past they showed us a medical paper that listed his autism and other things (that medical paper didn't have DID, btw) and refused to even show proof. They kept saying that they got diagnosed with it, but would they say that their therapist refused to or that they haven't yet? They have done much worse, but yeah, and they have called us Ableists for calling out this type of behavior even worse. They have stated that the way you get an alter is by being happy. For example, they got a Boba cat alter from drinking Boba. I don't know if that's how it works. (Also yes they have self-diagnosed before)

I was always the odd friend in the group, I was always confused trying to learn how to better communicate and socialise with my peers and family alike. It's not only about the self soothing and hyperfixations, that's not what autism is. It's the constant pressure of our society telling is the only way to be successful is to be socially acceptable and for people like me that's just not that easy. I've learned over years how to mimic and mask certain things. I've definitely overcome most my social anxiety and learned better coping/communication skills, but that was over YEARS of internal reflection as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. It's never been fun to be this way, it's not all bad, but it's surely never made me feel special or unique, just different and like I have alot to overcome to be on the same level as other people.

    • They glamorize a LOT of other illnesses and disorders. The biggest one I personally see is depression. They ignore the fact that we don't feel like doing anything, and only focus on the small things we don't have the energy for: like a dirty room. When many of us don't even bathe regularly and have to be reminded constantly to bathe and keep up with hygiene. It's almost been a year since I've started my recovery and I've been doing pretty good mentally wise, but I still struggle with basic tasks like brushing my teeth. They also tend to romanticize depression on Tumblr as something that "needs to be fixed." When in most cases all a romantic relationship does for us is give us a little boost. After that relationship we tend to fall right back into the patterns we struggle with. My depression stemmed from a lack of companionship, which in turn doesn't help since my autism makes it incredibly difficult to interact with strangers. Most of the friends I made were made because they approached me first or an outside force grouped us together, like a teacher grouping us for a project. Depression also has some studies that show it makes our memories blurry and make us forgetful.

The system here in Norway is pretty outdated, and I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, though I'm not really that functioning, and struggling a lot being overwhelmed often by sensory input and socializing (aka a lot of meltdowns and low energy days). I totally agree with you though, making light of these types of disorders are disrespectful and disgusting. It's hard enough to be believed by doctors, now we gotta put up with everyone else not believing us as well... (I wasn't really believed by my friends at first when I first told them about my suspicions about being on the spectrum, and was diagnosed as late as last December, being 30 years old)

    • I just got my diagnosis a month ago (it's been officially a month being diagnosed as of writing this). I spent years being pushed under the rug by professionals because I was "too social" despite never having a social life because of how I can mask while I communicate. Even though my family knew that I was autistic before I could even speak due to how I was behaving, it took until I was an adult to get a fair shot at a diagnosis due to the stigma against women and autism. I absolutely "self-diagnosed" before I got my diagnosis as I had to realize my neurodiversity without the help of doctors (despite being seen by numerous child therapists). When people self-diagnose without fully considering what it means, it feels so insulting to me as someone who was consistently gaslit about my experience with the spectrum. Self-diagnosis CAN be valid when it is accompanied by research and intensive self-reflection, but TikTok seems filled with people who think it is an instant process. The people who do this just make the lives of autistic people who have valid self-diagnoses more difficult than it already is.

I've gone through irreparable trauma because I can't properly communicate things. I've had meltdowns and hit myself for being too 'slow' with things that my peers were able to do/finish immediately. My self worth is still terrible to this day. I'm only able to be productive one day every two to three weeks. But I still power through it all no matter how painful it is. I'm scared of getting a job because I know that one day everything is going to be too much and they'll fire me on the spot for it. They're making such a huge joke out of us, and I hope that when all of these idiots grow up they live the rest of their lives regretting everything they did to frustrate us and cause us to be even more misunderstood than we already are.

  • As someone with Tourette’s, one of the easiest ways to tell someone is faking it is their reaction to their tics. No one I’ve met with Tourette’s is happy about their tics. Some of us have tics that cause physical pain and possible injury. For example, I have a throat clearing tic. Sometimes it gets so bad that my throat becomes raw and I still can’t stop and it hurts like hell. I also have a gasping tic where I raise my head up. I have bonked my head into a wall multiple times doing this. I’ve said “fuckin hell” out of anger after this tic so many times I worry about it becoming a separate tic. People have asked me if I’m okay, if I need water, said I sounded like I was gasping, etc. I’ve seen others that are laughed at for their tics and it enrages me. Tourette’s is not fun or quirky. It’s a disorder that affects the way you live in ways that are mostly negative. Tourette’s is a medical exemption from going to court in person. Thankfully tics would not get someone charged with contempt of court, but that doesn’t make up for the shit people with them have to deal with. I’ve heard of horrible experiences people have had to go through because of this disorder. You don’t want Tourette’s. Get attention someplace else.

Like sometimes I'll end up wiggling my fingers going, "Tickle tickle" and we ended up laughing about it, because it was just so random at that moment. It didn't hurt so, I found it funny. I personally hate my tics especially the ones that hurt me or others. But since I don't do too too much research into the negatives and positives, I guess I just want to hear from someone else who has it. Is it okay too laugh at ones like those? But adding an entire layer to this is that DID is a reaction that the mind has to protect itself to extreme levels of abuse. Imagine surviving something that most of us will never be able to comprehend, suffering every day with the consequences of that, and what you needed to do to stay alive, then getting onto tik tok to see some twit mocking it and making it a joke.

  • Hi, I have Tourette’s. I could help but notice how you mentioned “that’s not how tics are” and so on. Some of the tics shown are tics that can come. It’s a really interesting syndrome because everyone is so different, also stopping before having a tic, can be the person trying to hold back or distract the tic so it doesn’t get too bad. That is a form of Tourette’s “therapy”. It’s teaching how to lead a tic to be less harmful for safety. • Just wanna end the stigmation; We have DID, we were diagnosed with it 5 years ago, and are currently trying our best to recover from it. Non-Human alters DO exist; they are formed after dehumanizing trauma, where a parental figure could do things for example, when a child is put in a cage or, chained up, its a real thing which can cause an alter to form with non-human features (in headspace , which is false memories) leading the alter to believe they are not human. Next Introjects/Fictives do exist as well, but its not like how these fakers like to make it to be. When the brain latches onto someone or something, it can copy that character and make that character split after a trauma, the character is usually either an abuser or a comfort character. IT IS NOT A WAY TO HAVE YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW CHARACTER IN YOUR HEAD, negative introjects form also, introjects you dont want. Also INTROJECTS ARE NOT THEIR SOURCE. They always treat the introject as though if they are a complete photo copy of the source. Next; THIS DISORDER IS SHIT, STOP STIGMATIZING IT AND ROMANTICIZING IT, THANKS.

  • As someone who is actually diagnosed with depression, anxiety, Tourette’s and BPD, it hurts seeing these people fake all of these. It is a struggle just to live some days, and then to see these disorders essentially being role-played sucks sm.

  • The worst thing is when someone is scared and they say "omg I'm such an anxious person, I have horrible anxiety" my anxiety sent me home from school today because I couldn't breathe. I thought I was dying

  • This is hard for me because I have been adult diagnosed with ADD and possible ASD but because so many people fake this people do not take me seriously. That's hard for me and others who want to be taken seriously.

    • Exactly. This. I was afraid to tell people my diagnosis because of this trend of self diagnosis, thinking they’d accuse me of trying to get attention. Being ASD type 1 already leads a lot of people to look at you and go, but you don’t act autistic.

  • The worst mental illness someone could possibly fake is dissative identity disorder. Those ppl have been thru such absolute and unimaginable hell that they have different personalities (or alters) just to try and protect themselves. They deserve nothing but kindness and love and ppl run around claiming to have it for attention and clout. It makes me physically sick to think about ppl monetizing a disorder caused by such extreme trauma

    • Thank you so much for writing this!!! I have DID. I’m 57 years old, and I have YEARS that are a blank canvas. I don’t always have control of the steering wheel, per-say, but, at least I’m at a point where most of us cooperate so that we can function in almost a normal way around family, friends, and part time jobs. If any of these young people faking could be in my head with what we went through, they really couldn’t handle it!!!!

  • Faking shit like PTSD is absolutely insane to me, i cant believe someonr would WANT the flashbacks, the panic attacks, loosing parts of your memory, remembering things that didnt happen/remembering things wrong, physical illness due to stress, your body reacting to small amounts/normal stress in a way that makes you feel like the world is about to end. Its absolutely terrifying having something like PTSD and i cannot believe people actually pretend to have it

  • People will do and say whatever to get attention or to take the easy way out. I suffer from chronic migraine and when my peers found out that I get extra time to complete assignments when I'm absent and I can leave class whenever to go sit in a dark room, they took full advantage. It didn't mess with me because I had the documents to prove it and I've been dealing with migraines since I was 7, but many kids who did have migraines or got bad headaches had to jump through hoops just so they wouldn't fail school or get sick.

    • he wouldn’t know cause he doesn’t care, he only made this video to make money and he literally did a single google search and went on his merry way to fakeclaim someone because of an animal alter where there’s literally books by PhD specialists in dissociative identities stating and explaining animal/non-human alters and their function in a system. he clearly has no idea what he’s talking about and this video is just as damaging as those who fake disorders for attention.

  • Just reminds me of my husband's attorney. I've been in custody court quite a bit to last five years and they have tried to use my mental health multiple times. And the judge just lets him because they don't understand. However a common symptom of PTSD is auditory hallucinations. So my husband's attorney sees that listed in my file and asked me what the voices say to me. I was like I don't hear voices. He says what do you hear? I said lawn mowers in the distance mostly 😂 like I have PTSD bro not schizophrenia (not there's anything wrong with that. I think it's funny that he doesn't know what he's talking about not that hearing voices is funny)

  • It really bothers me!! Mental health problems are so hard to deal with it; some people can “choose “ what to fake just for attention and then we are trying to hide it even from our own family.

  • I actually have bpd been diagnosed with it since i was 18. Its a literal living hell nothing fun or different about it. I mean the only differences i have to deal with is the fact i dont understand myself or other people. So i cope with dbt therapy/skills and im just now getting to a somewhat of a stable place 6yrs later. It hecking sucks. 😢 But know that anyone else out there; have hope for your bpd. It can be turned around to where you can be more aware and manage better. It really takes work and patience and therapy. You also need a good support system around you and therapy. Dbt is your best friend. Any how thats all i have to say. Thank you for this video 🎉
