  • As a child, and teen, I was very mentally and physically treated horribly. I had lip gloss slapped off my face, I was drug around by my hair for not getting a chore done, and much, much more. And you know what? I took up for my mother at every turn. I would defend her actions to the death, and it took many years of therapy to find out why. It's only now, as an adult and mother myself, that I share things that happened to me, and I still can't share it all. I will never treat my son the way I was treated, the way this girl was treated by her mother, bc I know what happens to you mentally. I know how you carry these things with you FOREVER. Don't be surprised that she turned off comments, or that she acts beligerant when people react to what she has done, bc my mother would have any reason in the world for what she did and it was all valid in her mind. That was simply how you raised a child, and she was right and everyone else had no say bc I was HER child not theirs. That girl smiled and said she was fine because her mother gave her a wig, and if she didn't, she wouldn't even have that little comfort to wear out in public. This is abuse. Period, end stop, done. She needs parenting classes STAT.

My abusive parent absolutely HATED any time I tried to reach out -- they're so invested in the fiction that they are a "good" parent that they will lash out at anyone who says otherwise. The child will learn that it's too dangerous to tell the truth, and learns to lie and appease the abuser. I’m sure she’s smart too & the only reason I can see her falling behind is from going into “freeze mode” whenever her mom traumatizes her under “good will” & expects her to excel in school.. That’s a vile “mom”. God bless that beautiful young woman. I wish I could hug her & give her some positive reinforcement 😢 I hope she has her daddy in her life & he’s there to be there for her because her mom is a piece of “work”… Praying for her 🩵 The mom is so gross… 🤮 This young lady needs a real positive role model.. she’s more mature than her p.o.s. Egg donor 🪺 & what does the mom do for work that’s so admirable & honorable?! If it were that great / high on the totem pole then how does she have time to be so narcisssitic on her own social media & humiliating her daughter.. & nothing worse than when someone takes something away from you, shames you, *publicly for that matter* 🙄 then makes you happy, gives you more “love” & says “see I told you I did the right thing!!” & takes credit for your sudden happiness after they tormented you- So disgusting!

Typical teenager, I would never cut her hair. She has beautiful hair. Would never do anything to take away from her feeling good about what she saw while looking in the mirror. Why not take away from her phone or privileges? She's a teenager this is what they do. There's no such thing as a perfect teenager.

  • As a hairstylist, this is why we have the term "Angel cut". It means for whatever reason, the client is being pressured to get a cut they do not want, and we come up with a reason as to why we can't service it. Stop the service, possibly call the cops if needed. This whole situation however is just so sad, it's 100% abuse to make someone feel like crap about themselves. For men and women their hair is a symbol of who they are or how they wanna express themselves. Even if she only cut off an inch, that's still abuse imo. Wow this got wayy more popular than I intended, but I just wanna reiterate no hair stylist wants to be involved in your personal family business, but do not bring your family business and punishments to a salon, we don't care for it. Angel cut may be something that "started" on tiktok but I'm pretty sure we all had brains before that to know that if someone brings in a screaming kid, I understand autism and other situations are a little different but still, if the child is in extreme distress, I myself wouldn't be comfortable doing it. Never said I'd called the cops over this specific situation.

    • That's kind of crazy if you ask me. Parents bring their uncooperative kids to get their hair cut all the time, and it's not abuse. Little kids often beg for haircuts and then change their mind, or they don't take care of their hair and need it cut. There's plenty of reasons why a kid would not want to sit through a haircut without it being abusive. Even if it were a situation like this, where it's for a punishment, it's not illegal and the cops can't do anything about it. What's the point of wasting time and recourses on making a redundant call to the cops? I really don't understand. Unless you mean that it's a hostage situation or something lol. If it's just a parent making the kid get a haircut at a salon, I don't understand why you'd take it to that extreme without knowing anything about the situation. Just tell them no and go about your day...

      @EmpressRetard@EmpressRetard Жыл бұрын
    • @@ReitanaViscera definitely not, this isn't a commonly known code word, and it's really a pointless exercise because the cops can't do anything about a parent taking their uncooperative kid to get their hair cut. It's not illegal, so the hairdresser would just be getting into other people's business without knowing the circumstances, making a false report, and, in the event that there happens to be actual abuse going on behind the scenes, you'd have just made that ten times worse for that kid when they get home. • As a parent (daughter just became an official teen❤, son is a pre-teen), I’m NOT the authority on telling any loving, invested parent what the “right” way of parenting is, but I definitely can’t help but have something to say when I see an abusive or harmful parent. Personally, this is how I would have handled it: I would have explained early on that while I proudly support my daughter’s hobbies and looking nice, there are some extras attached to those interests that I am financially supporting (subscriptions to streaming apps, Audible, beauty treatments/tools). Things like her grades and chores are important foundations of her future, and those have to be highly prioritized. If she gets distracted and isn’t putting in the time for those things, I can’t continue to reward her by financially supporting some of her other interests. I would still continue to make sure she has clean, nice clothes to wear, but I’m not going to buy new stuff if she doesn’t truly need it. We would be hiring a tutor to work with her, and if emotions or confrontation were issues we would start meeting with a therapist to work on those issues. I would remind her of all of this in a heart-to-heart talk if grades and chores had fallen behind, remind her that I love her, and that I just want to do my best as a parent to teach her healthy ways to have a stable, happy future as an adult. It’s okay be interested in beauty, but we have to put in the time+work on education AND emotional wellness/strength so that when the time comes for her to be on her own, facing a challenge, she will know she has to make good financial decisions so she can support her passions. Under no circumstances should you grab your child, cut up ANYTHING of theirs even if you paid for it, or punish when angry. Getting angry is OKAY, but you have to immediately excuse yourself and take some time until you can think it through and respond calmly/accordingly! Otherwise you’re just teaching your child to respond to stressful situations with aggression and vindictiveness!

I feel like it's really important it's talked about because that seems like a very hard and traumatic thing to deal with as a young girl that a lot of white people just wouldn't even think of without reading something like this. I remember growing up in the Midwest, there were only a couple black girls in my school, all with their hair how you describe and it wasn't until I got older and learned what relaxers even are that I realized these little girls hair wasn't just like that, someone was burning it off. Nowadays seeing all the little girls with their curl cream and curls bouncing all over and their cute little twists, it's really heartbreaking thinking there were little girls feeling bad about their hair and having it constantly fried. Even though I can assume why, I'd rather just ask, why do you think your family wouldn't let you just have natural hair? Sorry if that's a stupid question, but you don't gotta reply if you don't want to. I was just curious.

    • @MrAjking808 that's what someone that has not experienced trauma or come to terms with their own trauma would say. Trauma is subjective to each individual. For example, I have PTSD. I learned through therapy sessions how the brain deems a traumatic event. Memories are stored by the brain based on emotion. Therefore if someone has such a negative emotion in an event, the memory stored in the brain becomes negative. Every time that memory is "triggered" or remembered, the brain releases the same negative emotion and feelings as a traumatic response. This is also applied to phobias. It's not people being "dramatic" or easily "triggered". While there are some people that do fake mental illness for attention, not all of them do. Just because you don't react to an incident the same way another person does, doesn't mean their feelings are invalid. That's like if you lost a loved one and someone replies with "that's just life, it's not a big deal, people die every day.". We acknowledge what they say but most would agree that the person who said that is an insensitive jerk. An emotional bond with a loved one that's passed is one that others may relate too but won't fully understand your loss.

  • There was a girl recently who pulled the wig off another girl who had alopecia at school in front of everyone & the punishment from the parents was to shave the girls head or give up all electronics & they ended up shaving her head. I agree with it completely in THAT situation. Kids have literally killed them selves over that exact same situation where the little girl was bullied & her hair snatched off by a bully at school.

    • And still in that case, to snatch and pull her by the head repeatedly and tell her it isn't physical punishment is absurd. Then to post it on tik tok, beyond disgusting.

    • Are you saying the punishment was the child's choice?

      @xSwordLilyx@xSwordLilyx Жыл бұрын
    • The parents in the situation you are talking about were teaching their child about how to not treat people and flip the script on the child so they can have a taste of how the child they’ve been bullying actually feels. I applaud them. I bet their child learned a valuable lesson from the punishment.

  • This is a majorly traumatizing moment in her child’s life, she’s going to carry this with her with the feeling of being helpless in that moment and it is going to effect her future relationships, behavior, and even her future parenting one day and it is so disgusting that the one person she should trust more than anyone would do that to her in front of the world and then convince her that that was just her being a good mother

  • This girl will always be afraid of her mother, when she is in trouble she will never tell her mother about it because her mother will just cut off her hair for it instead of helping her

  • This IS physical discipline & public humiliation. This will be on the internet forever and this little girl has to relive that traumatizing experience over and over again. And let’s not even get started on how cruel kids are now and days, they will taunt her because of this. I can’t.

  • When I was a kid, my mother threatened to take ✂️ to my knee length blonde hair. I don't remember much in my life, but the crying and trauma of that fear literally led me to cut my own hair short- (before she did, I guess) so messed up that this kid went through this, and that it is on 👏 the 👏 internet 👏 for all to see

  • My stepmom had my hair cut every month when she KNEW that culturally, long hair was the norm, that I WANTED long hair. She did it because she hated me. I left home at 18 & went no contact for decades. My father only recently (65) is coming to understand the harm his spouse did. Since NONE of his 3 children talk to him. I'm only considering returning home to help him in his later years when it's confirmed she has dementia. I can find it in my heart to help them then. Otherwise her venomous ways are too treacherous to be near. The hair was only one of many, many horrid things she did. I've never forgotten it though.

  • I find it interesting that the mothers that do this are usually beautiful. My stepmother did this to me when I was seven. She cut my hair to less than two inches long. The mothers that do this either have no idea how deeply this affects the child or are sadists who enjoy the torment. It sounds silly, but it is something that some might consider a minor issue because it grows back, but for a young girl it means a lot more. It’s hard to explain, but it’s almost like taking a child’s confidence and ripping it away. Decades later, it still bothers me, so I feel for this girl. ✌️😀

  • That lady is extremely jealous of her daughter. I randomly came across that video like a day or 2 after it happened and I was horrified. The fact that she’s trying to make it seem like she doesn’t care about beauty or tik tok when she’s posting on that app daily while consistently using that same “beauty” filter in every video is insane. She’s not okay in the head.

  • This has happened to me twice, once at the age of 4 a woman my dad dated decided to cut my hair with a knife, her excuse to my dad when he got home was "she has lice" (now I don't doubt that I did, I was daily placed in a cold basement day in and day out as punishment) second time was when I was 13-14 another female my dad dated chopped of my long hair, her excuse "she sheds too much" Grown ass women being jealous of younger women or little girls is absolutely disgusting and disturbing.
