I think these "no hitters" where the infielders are playing half way to the warning track are cheap. In regular baseball, infielders must not play too far back lest the team at bat bunts on them. But if they do not have to worry about the bunt late in the game, then they can play way back, and it is a LOT harder for the batters to get base hits. This makes it VERY easy to get 3 outs in the 9th, thus cheapening the no-hitter.

I mean, the bunting part, it is like removing the goalie in hockey at the end of a game to give you an extra player on the ice. It gives you more opportunities to score, but it goes the same way for the team you are facing. It is the same in the MLB, if you chose to put all your infielders in the back because there is no chance for a bunt to happen, it is your fault to not prepare yourself for the bunt to come. The most logical explanation is that there are nine players on the field for the defense and anywhere from one to four players on the offense.
You chose to go easy mode against the batters, why don't they go easy mode on the receiving end to. Those unwritten rules sometime...only there to keep the pitcher happy so they don't cry at night.

@@g-mancollections5264 hes literally the guy who, when he got a walk off home run in the biggest at bat of his life against the Yankees to go to the world series, his first thought after was "guys dont rip my shirt off" and he had different excuses for it.
Any pitcher willing to throw a ball at those speeds at a guy, over some minor nonsense, is a gutless coward. Never understood how a grown man could act like that.
Altuve saying hey man that’s something you don’t do in baseball. But he’s allowed to cheat, steal an MVP, and steal a World Series ring. THOSE ARE THINGS YOU DON’T DO IN BASEBALL!!!!
Well, yeah....because he's a pos, and can't, no matter what, ever change that.
Baseball players have some of the thinnest skin you'll see.
Anderson should have known that was coming. just take your base.
man. I would do a dance out of the box every time if bumgartner is so sensitive
Wait.... what's wrong with the 360? To me he looked frustrated at the popup, shook it off and ran to first.
Here’s what people don’t realize with Mercedes homer. If I’m a young player, or a player going into arbitration. I’m taking EVERY SINGLE opportunity to hit homers. That’s money left on the table. If I get say 5 opportunities in a season to do something like that, guess what 35 homers on the year pays different than 30 homers.
You’re very right. But guess how much others teams care about your paycheck in that moment… none. So swing. Just be prepared to get hit the next time you’re in the box against them. The unwritten rules aren’t there to never be broken. They’re there to protect sportsmanship in the game and the players will police them. At the end of the day. Those rules exist because the players decide they should. And we have no say. And it’s his risk. The OBP is over a hundred points higher when not swinging 3-0 than when swinging. So swinging there was a greater risk to his stats than not swinging. It just worked out that time.l for him. Especially since the pitcher missed when throwing at him.
@@wdmcgaheeii The thing you’re not taking into account is it was a pitcher lobbing 60mph softballs in there. I could totally understand not swinging at 3-0 pitch against a actual pitcher, in that situation you go with statistics. Here’s the other thing to consider, if he grounds out, his batting average drops what maybe 2-3 points. He hits a bombs, that’s translates to money. And you get paid to hit homers in the mlb, plain and simple. And I’d disagree with you that players want those rules there. My brother currently pitches for the rangers, and he says hardly any players want outdated unwritten rules. Personally I’m a fan of a lot of them. But most guys in the league aren’t. Coming from him also, he says he wouldn’t blame a guy for swinging 3-0 (Fernando Tatis) or taking hacks off a position player. Everyone is trying to make money. Are pitchers supposed to take it easy when their team is kicking ass and the opposing team takes say Mike Trout out and puts a worse hitter in??
@@eezymoney3135 I agree with you, btw who’s your bro? it must be cool to have a sibling on MLB!
Rule #1 for a rookie, especially one who spent a long time in the minors: Don't piss off your manager. I don't care if it's an 0-2 count. If he gives the take sign (as he claimed), you take the pitch.
@@eauhomme Of course he claims he gave the take sign. As a manager you don’t go out and tell the media you told him to swing away!
I bet with the new rules the unwritten rules of hitting hard with a long lead are going to go away. Too many bullpens are fizzling out in the last 3 innings of the game right now and a team can come back or break out a huge lead late in the game as it seems more common this year.
"Unwritten rules" are just excuses for grown men to act like children. The point of the game is to win, not to follow "rules" just to make your opponent feel better.
Altuve telling someone its bad to bunt when up 7😂 how about breaking the literal rules

As a hitter you have one job, get the bat on the ball. Not even get on base. Just get the bat on the ball. If that means laying down a bunt during a no-hitter, that's called strategy. If that's swinging at a 3-0 watermelon, that's called doing your job. A hitter's job is not to protect the pride of the pitcher, or even the opposing team. No issues with swinging on 3-0 or laying down a bunt if the infield is giving it to you.
Exactly. I remember my coach always telling us "if it's 3-0, chances are it's going to be a fast ball down the middle. Put the bat on the ball." It was true every time, and we always got on base.
you would get plunked in the ribs.
Honestly, what difference should it make to Baumgartner that a hitter shows frustration when he misses a pitch.
Been a lifelong Rangers fan, and I can remember sitting behind the plate for a game back in 04 or 05 and watching the Rangers' Gary Matthews Jr. hit a grand slam on a 3-0 count. Not a fuckin' word was said back then. I gotta say, my team embarrassed me by acting like a bunch of bitches over that Tatis slam.
And the Padres stuck it to them by hitting grand slams in the next 3 games - Myers, Machado, and Hosmer all unloaded on them. Karma's a bitch.
The bunting to break up a no hitter I can understand, but to get petty over everything else is pretty ridiculous in my eyes.
I disagree. You’re still trying to get a hit, any way you can.
Anyone else see the irony of Altuve complaining….he broke enough WRITTEN rules to sink a ship
some of them suck but some of them are good karma
If you have a green light just swing
the only unwritten rule I don't like is getting triggered by the bat toss/flip..... if you can pump your fist or shout after a strikeout - I'll toss the bat after a big hit.
Swinging 3-0 is beautiful. If they don’t like it they should throw strikes. Seems simple enough.
With the 1st one. If you put a position player i. To pitch and someone takes him deep dont be mad have fun. That is what you were doing by putting a non pitcher in.

I don’t know what Bumgarner was so upset over. His defense got the out. It’s one thing if it was a homer but it was just a routine fly out.
All of these heated moments that sometimes culminate to "bench clearing brawls"..which is always a huge grab ass fest. I've seen worst fights at church bingo.
Funny it’s the white Sox acting all high and mighty guess karma struck this season 😅
the biggest laugh is all the face wearing sheep
Baseball is just turning into one big daycare league.
It’s bad form to add on to a massive beating, but setting up illegal cameras in the outfield to steal signs is tooootally acceptable! This is why most the world rooted for the Phillies this year.
If they mattered they would be written down. MLB players can be such divas
Im from the Netherlands so please can someone tell me what it is with the unwritten rules
Pitchers pump fist on strike three third out. I"m gonna watch the ball over the fence. It's just that simple.
I'd be like I'm paid to do a job i don't give a damn about how it makes you feel so I'm going Swing at 3-0 pitches if i can Steal a base no matter how much I'm leading by Break up a no hitter/perfect game by any way which includes bunting And hit home runs when possible
Oh man, some of this is so dumb. Running up the score is silly in little league, but in MLB, a team should never quit trying to score runs, period.
the next batter had nothing to do with the previous hit and yet gets hit later giving him first base which goes counterproductive to the game
If a pitcher throws at you or your teammate for pimping a home run, padding a lead, etc, oh well. Like your action is going to get no consequence. But that's the entitlement attitude now.
Baseball should take a rule from the NHL and eject every player that comes off the bench
Only one I find bad on this list is bunting to ruin a no hitter. Absolutely going to hell for that
Que w
Bo Porter had the right to be mad
the only bad one is bunting to bust up a no-hitter. he shoulda been benched
"Get it out of the ocean"
I love it how the announcers blame the batter for ruining a no-hitter. How about blaming the pitcher?
It always confuses me when elite professionals have such a fragile ego.
Ben Davis had every right to bunt for a base hit. His team was down 2-0 and that single brought the tying run to the plate. Isn't the goal to win the game? If the score had been 12-0, maybe you can make a case against this. But not in this situation.
Guy swings on 3-0 with a 12 pt lead..Yeah, he's getting beaned next time. Ask Mercedes how the minors are going? Can't get the same taco buffets down there
These guys are paid to hit. If he gets a meatball thrown his way, why shouldn't he swing away regardless of count? The better a guy hits, the more money he'll get on his contract. Yall are sensitive af.
@@SmoothCriminal12 exactly
MadBum always gets heated over the dumbest of things. I can’t stand the Giants, but I spent most my life in Northern California where pretty much everyone is a giants fan, there’s probably even more Dodger fans up there than there are A’s fans (outside of the Bay). Even some of my friends who think every Giants player is some kind of god were sick of his attitude. They loved him pitching, not bitching.
Not a baseball aficionado, by did Bumgardner get pissed at Guerrero for spinning? He knew he popped up and by spinning, it actually slows him down in case SF dropped it. Seems like you’d always want those batters to spin before they run.
Bumgarner hates when players show emotion he’s super old school so when you get mad at the dish he yells at you. Take Puig for an example
@@jackhowley9303 is that seriously the reason why he got angry?
@@malawi89 yes he’s old school that’s what it comes down to
Are you serious? I was looking for this answer too lol
That is the one I don't understand. The spin is an act of frustration, no different than slamming a bat down on a popup. He missed the pitch and he's unhappy. Bumgardner woke up and he's unhappy.
Hey, I got stats to pad for my contract bonus.
We all know and understand that this is a game but don't let that confuse the fact that this is these men's livelihood also. You want to give up and put a position player on the bump then don't get mad when guys get a free stat off of it. Their stats potentially affect their future, your feelings don't affect shit.
Professional athletes have been competitive their entire life which has paid off. Don’t expect them to not run up the score
This video could have done better with some context applied to each situation. What was the score when Ben Davis drag bunted to break up Schilling's no hitter? Showing Lowrie's bunt and the attempted drillings would have been nice. I pitched and played positions through college. I never understood the swinging on 3-0 with a big lead unspoken rule. Here's why: The hitter is going to make an out more often than not. I'm never trying to pipe one no matter what the count is, I can't throw the ball straight anyway. If a guy wants to roll the dice, I'm all for it. Less pitches for me if he puts it in play and makes an out. Imo seeing the cardboard cutouts of fans and players/coaches wearing masks were the most offensive things in this video.
I read thru these comments just for amusement, really. Of the hundreds on this one, yours is really about the only one that makes sense. You can tell the difference in the people who played and the people who played video games.
MLB should implement a rule that if you leave the dugout or bullpen to get involved in a skirmish, then you are automatically ejected.
That is so stupid
@@kRy-ps5jz it's no different than if you leave the bench in hockey. There is absolutely no reason why someone from the bullpen or dugout should be leaving to get involved in these ridiculous spectacles. They can't even fight properly, just a bunch of pushing. So lets hear your logical reason for doing so..
The most logical explanation is that there are nine players on the field for the defense and anywhere from one to four players on the offense. So if a skirmish breaks out, nine against one is rather lopsided and running out onto the field evens the player count, so to speak. For your other sports, the same number of players are typically on the court/field/ice at the same time. Again, a "logical" explanation.
@@JeffreyW67 picking a fight with 9 other guys would not be logical. Would it.

Mercedes after that game fell off hard, he got his karma he’s barely making the big league roster right now
He didnt deserve the treatment he got from that backwards la russa tbh
@@alexanderlemus5043 He deserved every ounce of it. LaRussa's the boss. Mercedes is the rookie who ignored the take sign and disrespected the game.
"Ugh its not fair u didnt give us a chance to get you out! How dare you!" " .......i was supposed to?"
I "love" how - in a sport where everything is measured - my opponent wants to tell me when i shouldnt compete anymore. I hate it. Get over it and get better.
Meanwhile the Astros are breaking the written rules.
These guys make way too much money to be getting in their feelings like this
Unwritten rules in an adult gane because some of these guys never got passed having the 'mercy rule' available to them when they played as children.
I love the sox attitude
I hate that you can't stand up for your players in sports anymore
The players should be allowed to be themselves
Do what you got to do
I can kinda understand the "no swing on 3-0" thing while you're up a ton of runs but this getting mad at batters for celebrating a home run is ridiculous. People always say "Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing in sports". Then let them be happy they fucking smashed it.
I think baseball players need their own safe space....lol at unwritten rules
I got nothing to say. 😂 Jajajaja.👊🤛👍😉😯👹
imo omly unwritten rule that should become a real rule andbe inforced would be excessive celebration like how the nfl had to shut it down. other than that just play the game and collect your contract money. and get a nice bonus if you play your heart out and hit hmrs or pitch no hits
and if you say anything about stats. the numbers on all players right now are incorrect because of the no hit on 3:0 and not bunting. if you want stats then work harder and smarter
