Its insane to think the guy who play Feyd Harkonnen was an extra on Hannah Montana. Happy for Austin butler, awesome actor!
Talk about working your way up 😮
Coldest moment imo. They way he walked in so coldly and murked him
Feyd seems much more fascinated by how cold-blooded Paul acts than being baffled by his uncle's untimely demise. "Should have done that myself"
Feuyd in the books actualy tried to assasinate the Barron once or twice. He was warned if he tried it again he would be executed, son or no.
I loved his facial expressions in this scene. He's so close to breaking into a smile, realizing that he's that much closer to becoming emperor
He did want to drown him in the tub after the Baron sent an undrugged Atterides to him for his birthday fight
Paul literally made Feyd the Baron Harkonnen in one stab, and while Feyd could have wanted Vladimir dead, the fact that Paul did it instead of him saved him any trouble regarding questions as to who killed Vladimir.
Yes! Fascinating character portrayal of Feyd
I loved Paul's body language in this scene. He doesn't look at the Emperor and only gives Feyd the "I'll deal with you in a minute" look as he walks by.
My desert. My Arrakis. My Dune... argh my throat!
Here water🥤
@@ilhamleo6348 😂😂😂
If you watch closely both Paul and Gurney walk with their right shoulder lowered. The arm holding the knife. Details like this are what set Denis apart.
I wonder why
I’m guessing that’s how the atredies were trained to hold their weapons.
That's not a Denis Villeneuve thing, that's an actor thing. Josh Brolin wanted to match a lot of movements and mannerisms with Timothee Chamalet. Brolin wanted it to look like he had trained Chamalet to fight and they worked and trained in Kali together in the build up to the first movie filming.
@@InReserveProductions That's cool
Feyd looks turned on by this lmaoooo
He's a sick puppy, ain't he?
Feyd enjoys violence and power, and Paul embodies them both
He's happy because he just became the Baron of house Harkonnen.
Bro was bricked tf up thinking about fighting paul
@@maazahmed506he became the Baron for only about 5 minutes lol 😆
“You die like an animal” has to be a callback to the Gom Jabbar; especially with how he died in the book. “An animal caught in a trap will gnaw its own leg off to survive, what will you do?”
I can see that. The “animal” is the one who fails the test and is killed by the Gom Jabbar. The baron is killed by the Gom Jabbar in the book. Never thought of that symbolism. Really cool!
@@Miatpiit also fits because Paul stabs the Baron in the neck, which is exactly where the poisoned needle is supposed to stab you if you fail the Gom Jabbar
It absolutely is. One of the key themes of Dune is what separates "animal" people from "human" people. The only reason Paul survived the gom jabbar and wasn't killed by the Reverend Mother then and there was because he proved himself to be sufficiently "human" by passing the test. It gets at themes of resisting/rising above instincts to plan intelligently. The Baron was cunning strategically, but all the Harkonnens are ultimately slaves to their baser instincts, the Baron especially, and even though his plan to kill the Atreides was cunning, it wasn't wise at all (based on how it backfired on him.)
I was just wondering why didn’t Paul try to explain to the Baron that he was the Baron’s grandson? That way the Baron would have understood he was making a mistake all this time and would call off his attack? The Baron would work to help his grandson and they could rule the galaxy altogether.
Animal also refers to the method he used to execute him which one usually does for goats and others if you don't have a gun to kill them. It's also almost ritualistic where if it was say a goat you would immediately hang it upside down so the blood would drain out.
Love that the music playing here is the same music from Duncan Idaho's last stand in part One. It highlights Paul's vengeance but it also suggests Arrakis is just trading one tyrant for another.
Yep. It's also a reversal of roles for the Sardaukar. .
"Here I am, here I remain."
Baron’s facial reaction to Paul saying “Grandfather” has to be the most subtle but dramatic expression shift I’ve ever seen… holy cow this movie is a masterpiece every single second through
Also the way Feyds eyes lit up....amazing acting all the way around
Como ele descobre que o barão é seu avô ?
I don't understand it? Why didn't Paul simply explain to the Baron that he was the Baron's grandson? I am quite sure the Baron did not know, and he would have called off his attack and work to help Paul. They could work together to rule the galaxy?
@costco_pizza the baron basically killed his father. Ain't no coming back from that.
@@costco_pizza Oh he knew lol. I think the Baron is surprised that paul knows. He underestimated Atredies' entire bloodline hence why he died. Vengeance is a dish best served cold.
One of my favorite scenes in the movie, how he just waltzes up- ignoring every other person in the room and finishes the job.
Everyone except Feyd...
But I don't understand why didn't Paul simply explain to the Baron that he was the Baron's grandson? The Baron would have realized his mistake and he would have called off his attack and work to help Paul. They could work together to rule the galaxy.
@@costco_pizzathe baron helped kill his father and destroy house atreides it was the right decision killing the baron also he did tell him he was his grandson right before he killed him
Just like Stilgar when he met the Atreides. He feared nothing walking into that room.

I always like Feyd's little grin upon seeing Paul for the first time. This is a little weird to say, but it almost feels warm. His smiles were aggressive and wicked up to this point. None of Feyd's smiles are loving at all in the entire film of course, but here at least, to me he is saying, "Who is THIS? Now THIS GUY is worthy. I want to see what he's going to do next." He is so impressed by Paul here and you can see the respect in his smile. One of the many subtle facial expressions that I appreciate from Austin Butler's stellar acting performance in this movie.
Feyd got molested by the Baron as a kid. There’s a reason why he wanted to kill Vlad
I only first saw Austin Butler in *Masters of the Air*- and I came out.. unimpressed by his performance. Now I see that was just a show with shit directing and even worse writing; it's hard to weave gold out of a block of shit. In this tho? He *is* the Feyd. It wasn't until after the movie I realized it was Austin Butler. I had totally misjudged in in MoA, he did his best in that with shit directing in writing - in this? Truly, you forget he's an actor.
@@gregoryborton6598bad script and bad direction can really blast a hole in an actor’s first impression.
Feyd was like Finally a worthy opponent our battle shall be legendary!
That’s because despite what people may think of him, Feyd is a good and honorable person who respects other fighters. He was only trying to do what he thought was right. Since in the end it was Paul and the Fremen who were the evil ones, I really wish Feyd had won the fight to save the universe.
Feyd standing there by himself like the badass he is, while the imperial court are protected by the sardaukar
Wasnt he behind them?
@@lastsong7159 he was behind the ones guarding the gate, but the rest of the sardaukar were protecting the court and Feyd was standing there alone

Feyd was like... Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!
That one shot of Paul ascending the steps is my favourite in the entire movie. Complete physical and mental transformation from aristocratic heir to The Voice of the Outer Worlds.
Feyd seemed to enjoy watching his cousin kill his Uncle too much
I loved that 'alibaba and 40 thieves' aesthetic.
In the end a Harkonnen sat on the throne as the Baron wanted, he died yes but it's not like he was above killing relatives to achieve his goals.
Harkonnen and Atriedes*
@@CarvedStones Sure, it's not the Lannisters we are talking about . Feyd was a Rautha as well.

The whole movie is pure art. Every single scene has been calibrated to make it epic! Could very well become the best sci fi movie of all time
agree, hoping they leave it here and don’t make another, sucks they have to do Messiah in order to get to Children, Messiah isn’t very good and a bit tragic
@@Badfish8119 this Director can do wonders. I'm sure he will deliver an amazing movie. Moreover, the producers are also taking their time. They do not rush like Disney. Quality over anything else 👏

@@eholm101 I mean, i enjoyed all the books, but Messiah is my least favorite I suppose and Children might be my favorite, aside from the first, but I’m Denis will make it great
@@Badfish8119 Messiah is weird because it feels less like a “complete” story than the other books. Much of it is from the outside perspective on Paul’s rule. It’s also quite short. I’ve very hopeful that Denis will make a great end to his dune project
“Arrakis is Arrakis. And the desert takes the weak.“
"My desert. My Arrakis. My Dune."
Family drama am I right?
The ultimate revenge of his father’s death. Similar to his dad, the Baron dies on his back paralyzed as a result of a miscalculation. Pauls father failed to identity the traitor and the Baron failed to identify the other Sietch. Two great mistakes that led to their demise. The gratifying component of this scene is that unlike Leto, the Baron was completely powerless in his final moments. He was in the exact position as the Duke, but at the complete mercy of Paul…. INCREDIBLE
Feyd bricked tf up😂
Feyd = Diamonds 😂
The music when he stabs him 👂🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼

I was disappointed with that one too.
Look how emperors sardukar are helpless
Oh come on!!! You expect me to believe a bunch of desert rats would have been a match for the feared and dreaded Sardaukar!? Come on now! Let's be realistic here!
Right?
It's not even so much that they're helpless as that they just DGAF. House Harkonnen, at least the old generation, has just about outlived its usefulness. Otherwise the Emperor might ask them to try and defend the Baron. Shaddam probably realized at that point already that Feyd was one of his last power plays.

Did Butler just buss?
0:48 "Grandfather"
Sure it's a rewrite, but I think it was done for the sake of pacing and it just feels more personal for Paul to finish the job himself.
Great scene. I love Feyd's expression. Almost like curiosity, slight gleefulness almost and interest over anything like fear and/or anger. Brilliant.
Love this Film
Paul: Part of a ship, part of a crew. Vladimir: 😮 Paul: _stabs_ Vladimir: 😵 Paul: You should've stayed on Flying Dutchman
You can see the rage in pauls eyes he's been festering on this the moment he got his fathers ring
I feel like ppl are gonna think “why don’t the Sardaukar and Harkonnens just attack him and the Fedaykin” and I like to think it’s because they’re ultimately frightened by Muad’Dib and the Fedaykin at this point. “You underestimate the power of faith.”
the most bitter thing that the baron had to realize was that he had a direct heir
“He had seen two main branchings along the way ahead-in one he confronted an evil old Baron and said: “Hello, Grandfather.” The thought of that path and what lay along it sickened him. The other path held long patches of gray obscurity except for peaks of violence. He had seen a warrior religion there, a fire spreading across the universe with the Atreides green and black banner waving at the head of fanatic legions drunk on spice liquor. Gurney Halleck and a few others of his father’s men-a pitiful few-were among them, all marked by the hawk symbol from the shrine of his father’s skull.” I think we may have found the book inspiration for Denis’ version of this story.
Exactly. When I reread the book and saw that paragraph I didn’t mind this at all. Awesome as hell.
Will be interesting to see how they reconcile this massive depature from the original story in the next part.
Wtf are u talking about ???

Incredible film …watching Villeneuve and Fincher dominate the movie world over the next 20 years will be very cool. As far as science fiction goes this is right up there with ..the blade runner and the Alien franchises
I’m surprised that Paul was able to stab through the Baron’s neck blubber
Feyd in the corner getting horny.
I’m this part I thought that his full name is Paul Atreide Harkonnen
I wonder if the Barron knew Paul was his grandchild, would he have tried to kill him, or stop his father's plans, make Paul the new Emperor. He seemed to really want a Harkonnen in the throne.
The finale of this movie is basically the desolation House harkonnen. (Except Feyd unborn child) Also remember in part one Baron says the desert takes the weak, my desert, my Arrakis, my dune. In this movie after he is killed his body gets thrown to the desert covered in ants.
This movie was amazing
I teared up during this scene in the teather..
Are you serious?? come on now dawg
Feyd: "I don't know who this guy is, but he is definitely worth my time."
0:56 The Emperor’s facial expression says enough. He knows he will lose this battle. I think Christopher Walken did a solid job as Shaddam.
I wish he said “here i am, here i remain.”
Why did they (and Feyd) allow Paul to do this? Sorry, Hadn't seen the movie yet but his men seemed okay with it, is it because Feyd wanted to inherit? 🤔
The emperor is glad his co-conspirator and rival is dead, and the Harkonnens are Machiavellian Bastards who respect only power.
Feyds desires overule any grasp on logic or political plays. Plus I think that he knew that the baron was done in the eyes of the emperor.
The Baron is really just a puppet for Emperor Shaddam. They’re all ok with it because not only did the Emperor give the ok for one of his men to sever the Baron’s oxygen tank, but the Fremen forces have them all completely surrounded.
@@ryhu8344 Thank youuuuu 😊
because this film is a goofy departure from the text "as written" I'd suggest reading the book or audiobook. More details and depth.

1:20 Buries the dagger a foot deep into the jugular..... and the blade comes out clean and white. This movie is so averse to showing blood (like in the arena scene where Feyd slashes three bare-chested guys) for that PG-13 rating.

It's not such a bad thing really. Fans of the book enjoy these movies more than anyone
Paul just entered in a room full of potential threat, said no words , killed a fat bastard and went away - Sigma Paul 🗿🗿🗿
Is this movie based on Isarel America Hamas Palestine Gold Oil etc?
No. It's based on humans and their relationship to/with power and what people, organizations, institutions, etc. will do for power and control. People read a little bit TOO much into it for my taste, but to boil it down simply as Frank Herbert said in an interview: "The name of the game is power".
You should watch an old film called Lawrence of Arabia.
The fremen religion is based on islam and buddhism (the wiki calls it buddislam of zensunni) but it is not based on the Israel Palestine war
It has many readings, an israel-Palestine reading wouldn't be too far fetched honestly.
Again more and more crappy drama.
Then don’t watch it and keep your comments to yourself
