    • Yes, that should be quite an occasion. However, that's a long time away. I have no idea what the next pro tennis tournament she plans to enter is, but let's, just for a moment, put ourselves in the place of the organizers and promotors of that tournament. You'll have what anyone would agree is the biggest sensation in the history of tennis. Ticket sales should skyrocket. It would be nice to be in that position. I wish her all the best in her future, in and outside of tennis.

    • @@bobbybaucom9440 Fingers crossed for Indian Wells then. Apparently she's ambivalent about going (presumably an invite would be no problem!) but Leylah Fernandez will be there so maybe that will tempt her.

    • So the pressure's on now at every game, hopefully she will be prepared for that.

    • @@trespasser121 Basically, Emma has worked most of her life to get to this level in tennis. I can't imagine that she or her family, or those around her, can even conceive of the pressure she'll be under in the future. Now she won't be able to go out to a restaurant or any other outing without security and her relationships with her classmates going forward will never be the same. Naturally, I've seen the word transcend but have never used it. I'd like to now. Her popularity will transcend tennis. She's a great tennis player, multicultural, young, very attractive, a great personality with a bright smile, articulate, intelligent, charming, and with a lot of poise. She even speaks Mandarin, I believe. I read somewhere that she might decide to try to quality for Indian Wells. That's the most absurd thing I've read about Emma and her victory at the U.S. Open. I believe that the promotors of the Indian Well tennis tournament would give her a wild card invitation and send a private jet to England to bring her to the tournament site.

    • Mmmm ... just imagine the pressure on her too! Hopefully, she will spend plenty of time preparing for all the challenges, psychological as well as physical, that Wimbledon presents to a British tennis player!

  • I think Emma winning is a bigger deal than if England had won Euro 2020. Considering she came from virtual anonymity as a qualifier makes it even more amazing. Definitely has to be a favorite for Sports Personality of the Year. It just shows that with solid parenting, inner belief and talent, anything is possible. I hope that the British public doesn’t put too much pressure on her and the media leaves her alone.

    • Sports Personality is a given, I bet the bookies have stopped taking bets She is going to be a target for the papparazzi from now on - we all know how this story goes. But I think she's extremely tough mentally and will be able to withstand the onslaught (how many TV channels has she spoken live on in the last week? ... all of them! .. no problem at all, a natural) This lady has got her head screwed on correctly - she's going to be fine.

But I’m sure whoever draws the short straw will do so with an amazing grace uncommon to her years, since they have both held themselves remarkably well to get to this point. • I'm excited about watching her play in her next tournament. I've commented about this before, but can you imagine being the promotor of a tennis tournament and all of a sudden Emma Raducanu is in the field. And Leylah Fernandez! Many years ago, Tiger Woods was coming back after an injury and the end of the golf season was approaching. There was one PGA event left, the one in Greensboro, NC. As he needed to finish high in the ranking to participate in the Fedex playoffs, he entered at the last moment. Well, the Greensboro organizers had to go into a crisis mode as ticket sales skyrocketed. They had to arrange for all the extra spectators, parking, concessions, and so many other, all at the last minute. If I remember correctly, Tiger won. All this should be fact checked.
