  • I don’t get why Pokémon doesn’t create a masterpiece of a game. They have every resource to do it and they are the largest media franchise in the world.

    • Because exactly that. They are so big and massive that doesn't matter what they do. Kids and people who already love POkemon got literally 0 standard and don't care because "haHAAAA !! NEW POKEMON LOOK LIKE A CUTE SHEEP ! HAAAHAAAAAA KAWAI DESU !!!! WE WEEB GO BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR CUTE POKEMONS !!!!" And that's why Nintendo and GameFreak would NEVER put any effort into their games. They gonna keep reusing assets and reselling the same game year after year. It's a shame and broke my hearts because i love the franchise is a nostalgia trip for me and they just keep ignoring their flaws that had been there for over a decade now

    • @@Laughy-Flaaffy I’m pretty sure it’s because they set release dates arbitrarily, they didn’t wait until the game was finished but instead urged the devs to have it finished by the time ash beat Leon in the anime, and urged the animators to finish the anime before Black Friday and holiday spending season because it’s the moment they make the most sales. An executive must have had data suggesting the amount of people buying the game regardless of issues and the revenue made by the merchandise, pogo, etc pushed by the anime as well as the licensing was way better than record breaking sales in a switch game and postponing the rest of the franchise projects, think just how much they make in ctg and licencing for clothing and anime, the coin Pokemon in pogo etc, they don’t care if one product takes an l as long as the entire timeline goes on and they fix the issues around Christmas

    • So I have heard this argument a lot. i think the what most people dont consider is just what is being loaded into the game. in this pokemon game there is a maximum of 15 pokemon loaded in at one time that you the player can see and interact with. Every single one of those pokemon are spawned in with a set nature, set IVs and the posiblity of being shiny. So as you are just walking around the world, pokemon are constently being despawned and new ones being spawned in. That is a lot of information that the game has to constently be loading. In comparison to the last pokemon game ledgends arceus, those pokemon spawns are set as soon as you arive in the area you go to, running through the area wont despawn any pokemon to allow new spawns to appear and the only way to get fresh spawns is to go to camp and move the day forward by sleeping or returning back to the vilage. I myself compleatly understand the frustration of playing a vidogame at 10 frams in 2022.

      @macnasty8300@macnasty8300 Жыл бұрын
    • @@djslavin3140 I disagree honestly. The pokemon company does not operate the same way as EA or Take 2 or other heartless gaming companies. For instance, the CEO of the pokemon company is Tsunekazu Ishihara, who is one of the people who directly helped produce and develop the original pokemon games. I made a comment about this a bit in this video pointing out that the largest media franchise has to stick to its release date for the game in order for the other pillars of the franchise to continue. There is nothing else planned in the card game or anime for gen 8 and if they pushed back the release of this game then the card release and anime would get pushed back as well. you could definitely make the argument that postponing the game would still be beneficial for the pokemon company in the long run. This is just how I understand / rationalize such a poorly released game.

These devs are clearly not very well managed internally, and also not given much time to work these games from the Pokemon Company. Feels like the game is made for as cheap as possible despite making millions of dollars, its so toxic I dont even think a GameFreak game given 5 years of dev time would even be that amazing honestly, their non Pokemon games are also not great. Everything about the game just screams "IDGAF". It's not the graphics it's the textures, art, and complete lack of any depth. Indie games are passion projects and dev teams of any size pouring their souls into games and ensuring they achieve the best for what they CAN with their limited budget and size. They also don't rush games out to meet deadlines. Stardew valley was made by one person and it IS impressive because of the thought and passion put into it. It exceeds many AAA titles in terms of depth to character and world building and player experience. The game knew it couldn't offer any insane graphics so it specifically chose an art design that it could make look good. And again that was one person that just cared about the product they made.

    • It isn't possible when you have to meet a dead line inside of 3 years. You also have most game developers were trained on game engines so retraining them to code in C and nothing but C for the chips used on the hardware will take a lot of time. It also restricts what chips you can use to chips made to work with C unless you want to teach your developers more than 1 programming language to make a game in. Then you have when a bug happens where in the lines of code is it? C isn't that easy to debug but if you are using another chip that using an entirely different programming language then you will either 1 need an employee that can read then debug in both or have 2 that will work together and not blame 1 another for writing faulty code. The reason why APIs came into existence is how repetitive the code was was. Using a API puts more into RAM but it also reduces how big the code the programmer has to write will be. IDEs are good for programming as they can pick up on coding errors and help you find which line they were in. Thankfully they also don't impact the compile size of the code. Then you have game engines. They make the process of making a game even easier and possible to make 1 inside of 2 years. The main issue with game engines is the bigger size and the put that their run time has to be there. APIs are made to be small enough that they don't interfere with how much time the program will take to run nor take up to many resources to load into RAM. Game engines well it depends as each one seems to handle it in their own way.

Gamefreak REALLY needs to hire someone who has experience making and optimizing an open world. Maybe then will the graphics improve as the performance improves.

If an ambitious game comes out using Unreal 5 and RTX but has bugs, its understandable, but GF have been making these basic, cartoony, super unambitious games for like 5yrs now since the Switch came out and they have this many bugs and performance issues?! Hopefully these issues will be resolved in the future updates, and as a game developer myself, I am aware of the difficulty in game development, but still quite shocked to see Nintendo and Game Freak release the product at this stat, I think it would have worked out better if they had more time to refine the overall experience, right now it just all over the place.

Like game goes from already low frames to less than normal making it even more unplayable. And to fix that problem you have to reset the game. I think the game in concept is very fun but having my character go 2 frames a second to then having lighting glitches is so hard to enjoy. They definitely need to fix that issue with a new update. I think overall this is a good step for Pokémon if they can execute it better and I think half the battle is having a better performance console which we’ll hopefully get soon. • I know I already replied once but the (super cool) person above me recommended a game so I figured I would too. A really good game for escapism IMO is Deltarune, it can be a little scary/creepy at points but it's mainly a lot of fun, the battle system is fantastic and the music, art, and characters are just so enjoyable. Plus you can look forward to new chapters probably releasing next year!

  • I love the real time battles and not having to wait for the weird circular dimension to load up. I love that Pokémon are in the world itself, but how can this game be worse than LoA that launched earlier ? This is a main Pokémon game for Nintendo of all companies , not a side project yet it feels emptier than past games. We all want Pokémon games to be better open world games, that’s what we’ve always wanted. I was very excited for this game and I want to love it and ignore its problems, I really hope Nintendo/GameFreak will patch this game for the better. Heck, games like Pokémon XD looked amazing for it’s time, Sword/Shield looked amazing, Pokémon games now should be almost perfection.

  • There's actually a lot of caves in this game... but yeah, not a lot of inside areas for buildings. For voices, i'm sure they'll add them... in Pokemon Masters instead.

    • I just replayed Pokemon Yellow and it was still a pleasant experience. It's missing pretty much all the quality of life stuff from Gen 2 onwards, but it was a good game at its core.

  • I feel like at this point In time they are capable of making a Pokémon game where we can travel from each of the 9 regions and battle the leaders from each one with Pokémon we’ve caught from all regions. That would be a great game.

  • TBH it wouldve looked cool if the the crystals attached to their head are floating around the pokemon with elemental particle effects from their typings and made it look like an aura. Instead we got the worst gimmick in pokemon games. The best powerup would probably be the Mega forms, they should've expanded that instead.

  • the pokemon company is not the same as other gaming companies. A delay in the release means that everything has to be delayed. that includes both the anime and the card game. Gen 8 anime is over, and there are no more card sets releasing for gen 8. The release schedule for the mainline pokemon games coinsides with the rest of the media produced by the company, therefore games cant be set back.

    • This is a laughable excuse for such a profitable company. If they wanted to change the way things work they could, but I wouldn't because why fix what still makes fuck tons of money

  • It may be "open world" but you get punished if you want to just explore. You can easily have your pokemon get too high of a level where they won't listen to you unless you force yourself to do the gyms in a timely manner. If you want to freely explore this world, you must finish the story quests first, THEN then game becomes more of an open world. You're actually locked out of a few areas and TMs until you can climb and glide.
