I noticed how fast you were climbing one of the walls, I love when developers start a sequel with the character having the same abilities he had at the end of the previous game.
Like how witcher 3 got rid of everything form 2 and gave you a worse skill tree then 2? Yea i feel them same, more games need to be like this
@@Conancharles yes, and I’m sorry to say Horizon Forbidden West as well. Not so much the skills, but all the equipment you finished the first game with is gone at the start of the sequel with only a one sentence explanation as to why
It would make absolutely zero sense if he "lost" those abilities. You couldn't even blame an antagonist for this, or so I feel. He would've been ended.
Too many sequels to games have you relearning the same shit you learned in the 1st one.
Sometimes they can get away with it like a character losing their equipment which was their abilities But when a character just loses their powers it be some bs 😂
I love the absolute transparency with not being able to speak the the PC performance and giving recommendations for other parties who could help. Genuinely love to see the willingness to get viewers the best answer rather than the only answers you have.
You can find out how it performs online, it ain't good. The RTX 4090 can't hold 50FPS at 1440p.
Pc is awful… Not Even 60fps at 1440p

@@A_mir0_0 Damn, us console plebs stay winning 🥳
I love when games not only keep the abilities from the last game, but also give you newer better ones, but still the first ones are useful. It takes a lot of effort and balancing to manage it without having 1 attack that overpowers the rest
I've been saying it for some time now but start wars is at its best when it's telling its own stories within a setting and timeline and not trying to interconnect and serialize everything
excatly, this is the reason i loved han solo and rogue 1, movies set in jedi vs sith universe is much better than movies focusing just on jedi and sith lol
Without a doubt you guys are the greatest video game channel on KZhead
Them and ACG
Them and dunkey are my go to game channels.

@@t-revstastetube8900I’d also throw “Skill up” in that list, his weekly gaming round ups and reviews are great.
I just started Fallen Order the other day and even after hearing all it's praise I was still blown away by how good it actually is. Glad to hear Survivor gets the Jake seal of approval! Can't wait to play it!
Glad ya like it, personally it was pretty janky and boring at times. Jumped in it months after beating Sekiro and felt like a major step down.
It's really not that good I swear most of you all in the comments have zero standards lol.
no its boring and theres no open world the only good thing in it is combat and graphic
I never got to play it but saw other people's gameplay and this was surprisingly a really solid game. EA may have dropped the ball on Battlefront, but Respawn did hella well on Fallen Order. It's a "real game" with a story, and levels, and leveling up, and really fun characters... All while being set in the SW universe. It's not just a real game, but a very well executed one. 😊
@@BourbonInhibitions it's pretty good, cry harder.
literally the only "gaming news" channel I watch on KZhead, because you guys consistently deliver high qaulity videos. no bullshit, down to earth commentary (you and falcon just seem like cool dudes who like games) and you come across as actually having passion for games. really appreciate this.
Don't know if he's still here but Andrew Danugai was also pretty chill.
@@aaeve5676 oh I am sure there a lots of people working on these videos, behind the scenes. I don't know who Andrew Danugai is tbh, as I am a somewhat newer viewer - only found this channel a few months back. so to me the only two "named" people from the videos I have watched are Jake Baldino and Flacon, that's why I called those to out. but again, I a appreciate all the peeps that make these videos happen!
@@_claymore Since you're relatively new, welcome to the channel! Andrew "The new guy" (not so much anymore) Gebbia is a master in the gameranx office. Most famously, his contributions are that of yelling really funny shit in the background of videos and engaging in some light-hearted banter when Jake messes up lines hahahaha.
I don't know man he rarely talks about pc performance and it feels miss leading because of it
These guys are the BuzzFeed of gaming channels
That dual wield combat is insane. Look how smooth and fluid the gameplay is. The stances reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima which is also an incredible game.
That's odd, cause I'm up to 3:05 in the video and I think the combat and movement looks wooden and poorly stitched together.
It doesn't feel as smooth as the first for me. And a lot of the climbing animations look weird. All little things that can be fixed. Overall good so far though
@william miller that's what I was saying. The climbing has no flow, he chops around skipping entire frames of movement.
The duel wield combat isn’t smooth
@josiahmoore9095 yeah, and at around 1:55 the way he sidesteps mid fight just looks kinda ridiculous really.
I think what I like most about the sequel is, it's ACTUALLY a sequel. You're not starting over from scratch and relearning everything you did in the first game, that is always a huge plus for me. I don't care all that much for customization as most of it is just cosmetic in nature.
Before you buy is probably my favorite review series. It has been constant and honestly influences my purchases quite a bit, keep it up and thank you for all the more to come!
I agree with you there, about how this channel influences my purchases. I had Dead Island 2 pre ordered, then I watched a before you buy and cancelled my pre order because of some of the things I saw in that video.
Since I could never trust ign with their reviews this channel is a light in a dark room
Honestly this channel and Skill Up are the most down to earth review channels I’ve found in the many years I’ve spent on KZhead, and you guys are one of the ones I trust the most! Keep up the great work : )
Thank goodness for Gameranx. These are my go-to reviews of games where even if you say there might be a like/dislike for a game, you disclose it at the beginning. but even then, I never feel like the opinions are biased. Great channel now that IGN can't be trusted with a fair review. 👏 keep up the good work!
Hey guys i just wanted to thank you for all you do. This is my favorite gaming channel. This series is all i've ever wanted in a review. I want to see actual gameplay and have someone clearly explain what the game is about and you are the best at it and always keep it it a tight 10 mins. No bloat which i appreciate. I really enjoy Jake doing the Friday week in review. it feels like listening to a friend talk and not just someone reading a list. Even when Falcon is literally reading a list it still feels the same way. The way you all convey the information feels different from all the others. Keep up the amazing work. I look forward to your videos everyday!
The spirit of the first game was outstanding. Like Jaws or Innsmouth. You were on this small, almost academic mission where things started quietly, and then they just kept ramping up. I wonder if they managed to recapture that
nope
@@Cinematicz16 that is really sad. I wonder what kind of influence sugar brains had in this ones development. I’ve been reading reviews from major publications, which of course all have the same hot take like calling the first level and its myriad of hidden verticality “flat and uninspired.”
This one has many of the same spirits as the first one with a goal of safety from the empire. Without spoiling anything you can tell how Cal has really grown based on how he handles tragic situations. He isnt as quick to anger or insecure in his abilities. He is a full fledged jedi, a servant to others which plays differently than being a kid just running from the empire. That being said, there are definitely some frame rate issues, glitches, and some choppy animations. But i think the preference between the two games is stylistic/the type of story you like. Great imo
I didn’t think it had much of a similar vibe to the first one but I thought the story in this game was much more emotional and surprisingly dark, especially the ending was shockingly dark with its moral and ethical implications for the future of the characters
Before I buy any game I come to see ur videos first u guys are just straight up honest no BS and that’s what I like the most about this channel
Jake thank you for making these man it honestly feels like I get a friends opinion on a game every time something new comes out
Always watch these before you buys to gauge if I’m gonna drop my cash on new game, thanks Jake 🎉🎉🎉
thanks for watching. we appreciate it!
The first game was such a breath of fresh air, this looks awesome! Love these videos Jake and the Gameranx team! Edit: apparently dissing EA with how terrible they’ve been with the Star Wars license before Fallen Order went over everyone’s head. That’s why it’s a breath of fresh air, because EA usually ruins everything they touch and I enjoyed Fallen Order. Stop commenting your transgressions about souls-like games, I just want good Star Wars games as I am a Star Wars fan who also enjoys fun video games.
Breath of fresh air? As in what ? The other 20.000 other souls-like games that appeared in the last decade?

I appreciate your "before you buy" videos so much dude! They're one of the few reviews, that actually feel genuine and somewhat objective

This is a great review! I was reading hoping Jake would be doing this episode of BYB because I remember that he has replayed Fallen Order as many times as I have. I haven’t been so excited for a game in so long!
I'm so glad this game turned out to be not just good, but great! The first game was also a pretty awesome experience and I'll definitely be playing the second one. Also, with the huge success these narrative focused Star War games are doing, as well as how well Dead Space remake did, I really hope EA starts to finally realize that fleshed out single player experiences with no micro transaction bs can sell really well, too. I think this is proof that some companies have so much potential but greed sometimes gets the best of them. But I hope this recent success helps change that little by little!
Pretty keen for this to be a trilogy, because damn, they've got a winning formula that's still got room to improve and expand.
Agreed
I loved the first one and I loved this one. I put so many hours into this and it was worth every second. Seriously if you like Star Wars you gotta play this one it's amazing. It's not easy, but it's amazing.
Is it pretty linear or more like semi open? I wasn’t a huge fan of how the first game was mostly just one path to follow.
@@mattswank it's a little bit of both. There's essentially a main planet with other places to visit as the story progresses. These aren't exactly open world games they are trying to tell a story, either way I loved Jedi Survivor despite the issues so many people had on PC.
@@nastybedazzler yeah I just wanted to see if it was super straight forward or still had some good exploration, doubling back or unlocking shortcuts to other areas, etc even like a soups game with some openness. Great video! I am on a Star Wars high after watching The Mandalorian, Andor and The Book of Boba Fet. Cannot wait to play this!
After facing a pretty significant Star Wars burn out, I’m back and super excited for this game!
Same. I can't even care about what Disney pumps out anymore. However these Jedi games are great, and give me what I want from a side Star Wars story. I'm glad to hear this one seems to go off and do its own thing. That's EXACTLY what I want.
Hope you feel better Jake! This is exactly what I wanted out of the sequel, the first game was one of my favorite platinum trophies 🏆 the only thing I hope is that the map system was upgraded a bit.. I was always getting lost deep into levels. Great video gameranx 💙

Looking forward to experiment with the customisation. The new finishers look amazing to pull off and what we do know of the story has me very intrigued.
Watching this a few hours before it comes out thank you for all the info!
I haven't gotten far into the game at all yet and so far the only complaint that I have is that activating your lightsaber makes a very loud sound that enemies 5ft away from you won't hear it and turn around to engage you. You're practically invisible to enemies unless you're standing right front of them. I'm not complaining that it's too easy or anything like that, just making an observation that just doesn't make sense and kinda takes away from the immersion a little bit. Like the A.I. has a built-in handicap.
I watch these videos even if its a game I'm not super interested in just because Jake is like if you had a friend giving you an honest unbaised opinion and its super refreshing. That being said, I'm super hype for this game even more. Long live gameranx!
for me the first game felt exactly like a really really good platformer. and I'm really glad that they've improved on other aspects. The only issue I had with the first game were the texture pop in's and reduced like really reduced frame rates at some points in the game but that didn't really bother me cause of how great the game was. I've gotten to the point that in order to buy a game I'd have to watch a gameranx before you buy 😂😂.
Very excited for this, not that I wasn't before but hearing positive things from channels I trust like Gameranx has moved the needle. Ordered the Collectors Edition from Limited Run Games, so hopefully it arrives soon. I just wish we would get a Bounty Hunter coop game set in Star Wars as well, that's my one ask. The Division 2 style looter shooter without Jedi would be such a fun contrast if done well, but I'm a sucker for good Star Wars & seems Respawn has the ability to make that happen in game form. I've also got a Titan Fall Collectors Edition, so seems I was on board the Respawn train from the start.
This game came out a year ago!!??? Dear lord my backlog is craaaaaaaaaaazy rn
I've played through Fallen Order over half a dozen times. I've got over 150 hours in it and I just did another playthrough a few weeks ago so I'm fully prepared for the continuation of the story. Also my first playthrough is 100% gonna be crossguard saber only. If I could use a kyber crystal powered warhammer, I would. No real additions to force powers is a bit disappointing. I would have loved to see a very-restricted ultimate ability. Maybe at low HP, after you've filled a bar, you can do a stronger version of one of your force powers. Sorta like what we see Cal do when escaping Order 66 after he gets shot in the ear, freezing a whole set of troopers. I really just want a stronger Force Push, even if it's a limited ability. I know Cal isn't Starkiller.
Lol 😂
When I watch videos like this I think “how would I fight that opponent if I had the controller?” And this looks like some more of the same! Love all the work and it will be A BLAST im sure, but I’m ready for a new release almost already 🙏✌️
It's also worth mentioning that even if you're not particularly a fan of the movies and series, this is still a game for you if you like these single player openworld hack'n'slash action adventures.
dan if there not a fan of the movies then they just need to look for there droids in another cantina one filled with bud lite and strange looking women
You guys never fail to provide 🙌
I'm so excited for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor! I loved the first game, and it looks like this one is going to be even better. The graphics look amazing, the combat looks more fluid and responsive, and the story looks like it's going to be really interesting. I can't wait to play it!🎉

Getting some good vibes from the gameplay trailer and story trailer. Will consider preordering jedi survivor. Glad there is dismembering limbs, which was missing from the first game.
If there's one thing I can respect about this game, its that while it doesnt do the force powers on the level of something like TFU or what we seen in the EU, it makes up for it by a pretty decent loadout in saber combat styles. In ways that I never considered, this team does it right

I dont think ANYONE would stop u.
Dude Kata has so much potential moving forward I can’t wait for the third game I’ve got a hunch she’ll be trained as a “Jedi” under Cal but I got an inkling that Merrin would teach her tricks too.. Imagine Kata being an insane hybrid character of Jedi and Nightsister with a newer idealogy from Cal’s light side beliefs allowing him to have connections My hope is the next game we play as Cal where we have Kata as an apprentice and a tremendous emotional baggage of killing her Dad, where Kata as an angsty teen goes back and forth on being irrational as a Jedi nightsister hybrid, and the trilogy concludes where Cal (very much at the level of a Jedi master now) has to sacrifice himself to save Kata, forever imprinting on her the importance of self sacrifice, helping her to understand the difficult decisions that lead up to her father’s murder and setting her up beautifully to be her own stand alone protagonist in a future trilogy I don’t have much to base that off of aside from some hopes and dreams and a little bit of dialogue post campaign. Please though. Please. Kata’s potential to be a very complex Jedi Nightsister hybrid is so insanely cool to think about 🫣
Cool idea! I think there is a great chance for the game to go into this direction. However, is it confirmed that she is force sensitive? Also, since she is not a nightsister, how can she learn the magic? I am not a lore expert but the story potential is there.
@@anthonykostin5591 Well Cal gets a magical trinket of sorts and it works just fine for him. Force sensitivity is also known to be hereditary so as far as I know she has everything she needs to be able to wield both Idk how nightsister stuff works but palpatine learned to do magick so I’d imagine force sensitive individuals could learn too.
Can't wait to get this game. Best part is I haven't even finished the first one. So when I do finish it it will feel like a continuous experience.
The biggest thing that I want to improve over the first game is the level layout/design. Having a couple of the planets just be these long spaghetti strings that rarely linked up or connected made me feel incredibly de-incentivized to go back and look for secrets. It's one of the things that I liked least about fallen order.
Kashyk was really annoying in this regard
I really wish there was a Star wars -force unleashed remake

The best channel. The most legendary channel .
I started playing Fallen Order a little over a week ago and just beat it over this passed weekend and immediately want to jump into Survivor. I loved 85-90% of the aspects of the first game so I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy this one. Also, story.
Do I really need to play Fallen Order first? Or can I just buy Survivor?
Not technically, but survivor IS a direct sequel so by not playing Fallen Order you will be missing essential story details.
@@mrwillmoi This IS a direct sequel to Fallen Order so you will be missing some essential story elements leading up to Survival if you don't, but the decision to do so is entirely up to you.
@@parakidd Ok thx, also I was just wondering if you knew whether you can play it on Xbox Series S with keyboard and mouse?
That I couldn’t tell you. I played Fallen Order on Xbox one X. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to Survivor yet. Not to sound like a smart ass but I’m sure you can find your answer regarding the peripherals somewhere on google.
The blaster is what I was missing from the first game. Don't get me wrong, fighting with lightsaber is cool, and once you get certain skills you can easily take down any enemies, but there is just something warm and fuzzy about having access to a blaster.
Love it so far. Intended to play a couple hours that turned into 14 somehow. Did I see the tail end of the speeder sitting on a platform half under a tarp in the beginning quest running around Courascant that Anakin stole in Attack of the Clones?
Honestly I loved they have the reset option for life, stems, and enemies but maybe it’s just me but I hope they give the option to reset just stems and life for more of a story driven mode and if you want more challenges then you can sprinkle in the options to reset stems but no life or enemies and no life or stems.
When Jake said “plant seeds” and “rooftop garden” I yay’d quite loud 😂 that was one of the coolest parts in the first game was watching your lil plants grow. Edit: this one will prolly be a buy for me but that was even before I watched the vid
So you didn't experience any bugs or stuttering issues? This is a big complaint about this game. I had to change my hdr settings just for this game otherwise it was unplayable. This review does not seem honest. I watched half the video so i don't know if you mentioned this later but your tone was overly positive so i am assuming you didn't
They don’t, seems like they are going the way of other channels that just hype up games and don’t give honest critiques. Not a single negative thing about the game’s performance… when everyone is having issues is concerning.
Like these oldshool space opera aesthetics. Definitely need more of these.
Installing it rn😭so excited
I would hope they should sort out the frame rate drop cos you did get that in the 1st game aswell!
I hope there will be some progression-sharing with the first game, it'd be cool to have access to all the customizations we unlocked in previously, and it would give more incentive to go back and play the first one. They could pull a mass effect for the skill tree and just have some buffs or extra skill points rewarded based on the level of the imported save. I doubt they'll have this, but I hope they do.
You retain a lot of skills from the first game starting off so it's like an actual sequel instead of having your character starting from square one like most games. Heard it on a review.
That era is gone. it will be a year more years before games start trying to do that sort of thing again after the Mass Effect fiasco. That series single handedly destroyed it since literally nothing you did really matter or changed anything of import
Thank you for the help to see if I would buy the game. Love the work you do.
You know I’ve been watching your videos since you first started uploaded and have now only just subscribed my bad guys lmao
I'm gonna buy it...when the most premium edition is on sale a year or so from now for $10.
Will be interesting to see how powerful Cal now is. At th end of the first game he was at least entry level Knight level.
So excited to jump back into this world ❤
