Few updates/corrections: The extruder is the e3d v6. Prusa slicer is based off the program slic3r, not cura.
Also, note that all the printed parts from Prusa are printed in their MK3 based print farm. To me it looks like they use "fast" profiles, so they are a good representation of a fast (vs. quality) print profile. They look good and quality profiles look even better.
But I could be biased as my only printer is a MK3S. ;-)
@@Sembazuru Do they have the files dl'able if one should want to print quality profile ones? Or is it not necessary in your opinion?
Ordered a Prusa this morning and just came looking for general info. Thanks for sharing and the content!
How long did it take for it to arrive after your ordered it?
The site says in stocks and ships in 3 days I’m on the verge of ordering
@@apexcustomz22 update: ordered mk3s+ yesterday. 2/21/22. Ships in 1 month. 🤯

Since you asked 👉 A critique; This video seems like a first take and like you winged it. I think it would have been more professional if you would have done this as a first run, adding verbal notes for your follow up edit, reviewed it, made the corrections/additions, it would have flowed better, had the needed information, less pauses and yeahs and would’ve been more concise. Watching the video before everyone else sees it, allows you to critique yourself. Don’t be afraid to pause your video, get the info you forgot (like measuring) and turn the camera back on, providing the information. Anyway, I hope this helps. I gave you a 👍 I’m here because I am looking to buy a 3D printer for my 16 year old son. Thanks
I appreciate the critique my friend. Working on improving my video quality. Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts. Good luck getting a 3d printer for your son. My 11 year old loves it.
Great vid! My experiences where similar. The print quality is simply amazing. I’m pretty picky about that and had an Anycubic i3 mega s before, the Prusa is just way above that even with the stock slicing profiles. Costumer service is also amazing. I chatted with them for a few times now and it was always very polite and fast help. I had a bearing go bad after like 150h of printing and I chatted for like 5 mins with them and the replacement parts where on the way. Also it wasn’t just the bearing and linear rod, it was all bearings and linear rods for the x axis (which would be like 50$). Im really happy with my Prusa, would definitely buy it again! The only upgrade I can recommend is an enclosure.
This is made me even more excited for mine coming should be here in a week.
Great video, about to order my second MK3 after only 3 weeks. The mk3 makes me look like a pro and prints whatever I ask it to print, simply amazing. If I really want to tinker then I’ll order the voron 2.4 from scratch……a much later project if it happens at all.
Thanks man, just getting into the hobby, and this was an extremely clear look at the Prusa! I kinda regret buying it fully constructed, but hey I've always been a fan of taking things apart, and reassembling, haha.
any specific reason you wish you wouldnt have bought it fully constructed? Just for the knowledge and tinkering of putting it together? Thinking about buying one and going the already build route so I can just hook it up and run with it for the most part.
@@dirtyricebryce6229 Maybe because it's not a complicated machine and that he couldve saved more money by buying the kit?idk lol
@Rookie guess so. Was just asking lol
Thank you! I am new to the 3D world and the people in my community use every kind of printer out there. very helpful!
Great review mate, I have three MK3S printers and really enjoy the product.
Thanks brother!
Great vid! Would love to see more videos on the ender 3 v2 tho.
Thanks for the video, looking into grabbing one of these
Thanks for the video. I love my Ender 3 but I started selling 3D prints quite often and I need something more consistent and reliable, this seems perfect tbh.
Right on, I would like to do the same at some point. As for consistency, and reliability, I don't think you can go wrong with this one :)
What did you end up doing? I’m running a 3d printing business also that’s doing a lot better than I expected, my creality’s are unreliable I hate dealing with the z offset issues with good first layers and shit 2nd and up layers etc I just want a reliable printer that I don’t spend hours trying to tune
Which 3D prints are you selling?
I’m researching for myself and for the company I work for. Thanks for the info😁
Nice video. I am looking at buying one as a Christmas present to myself. I have an ender 3 that I have tinkered with, a new silent board, new bowden and aluminium feeder, new board fan, belt tensioners, glass bed and a BL touch plus may cosmetic things. It prints really well. The only thing is it will print great then when you go to print the same thing again without changing anything it'll mess up. I'm willing to pay the price just for consistency and not having to watch the printhead like a hawk.
Great review, thanks!
Now since you did this video Ender has come out with the V3 SE and would you recommend it to a beginner over the Prusa?
Awesome video, I hit like and subscribed! I am looking for my first and possibly my only 3D printer. I appreciate the time you put in and the help in my decision making process. TY
wow that Deadpool looks realllll nice
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the informative video - new to the hobby myself and am leaning to the Prusa.
Right on man. Glad the video was helpful. You can't go wrong with the prusa. The build process is a pain though, so be ready for that.
@@509drone2 Cheers - I'm looking forward to the build (enjoy tinkering/building things).
Greta video. Mine just arrived. Very happy with thus far. Would you be open to telliong me where you got the glock 9 print file?
Subscribed! Awesome Video man! Good Content
Thanks bro! Glad to have you in the community.
Thanks for the video.
Hey slayer I was able to get it extremely quiet to the point where I have to constantly look back to see if it finished or not I putting a 16 x 16 slab of concrete underneath it.
Really? That helped out that much huh? I'll have to check that out, thanks for the tip!
@@509drone2 yea here is the video with the info on why it works kzhead.info/sun/rJRxppqIkJFtlKM/bejne.html
Hey guys! I too have silenced my mk3’s with pavers! I used 9x16 and I also put a little bit of foam under the paver. Dude, it’s unreal how big of a difference it made!
Thinking about buying this. I know nothing about 3D printing. I’ll check back for more videos. Thanks!
These are now selling for $650, And you can add on that multi extruder (5 filaments) for an additional $350. I'm definitely doing that!
Does it have built in stepper controllers or removable so it can be upgraded for silent or more powerful ? Does it have a shutdown feature at the end of the print ? The M81 switch relay I put on all my printers. Does it have thermal ranout protection in firmware ?stops the print when temp goes up too fast or drops too fast.
What kind of glue do you like to use on your 3d prints?
You compared it price wise with Ender 3 V2. Will the prints be same quality also?
Very helpful and inciteful video. Earned my subscription. Thanks. 🇬🇧
Great video very helpful keep up the good work. Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷
Do you have to use the prusa slicer for it to work or could you just use cura?
Cool video, thanks ;)
Great vid…I use Cura for my build settings etc. I tend to use 50/60 speed for the initial base and then up the speeds for the outer/inner walls etc, my question is what speed do I actually set on the printer at the start of my print? Because it starts off printing at 100 and I need to turn the knob down to 50/60 for my initial layer speed and then crank up the knob when this base has laid. Why doesn’t the Prusa automatically adjust to the speed settings I’ve created in Cura?
Thanks man, I'm glad you liked the video. As to your speed question, im not 100% sure. I have experienced this issue as well when slicing with cura on my prusa as well. It doesn't do it when I slice on prusa slicer though, so my only thought would be that it has something to do with the different slicers, and the firmware that is on the printer.
@@509drone2 I’ve sorted it now. I’ve been told that the speed knob on the Prusa is a percentage knob, so if you have your initial layer speed at 40 and your speed knob is 100% then it’ll print at 40, if you turn the knob to 50% the layer speed will print at 20. All my Cura speed settings were a little high so I’ve reduced them and the knob is set to 100%, all my settings now change speeds as I want them to from the beginning
@@stones-ds1yy that's awesome, and good to know as well.
has the PRUSA ever had problems with LAYER SHIFTS.. layer shifts have been driving me nuts with my X-1 SIDEWINDER
You also have a 3x3 High Speed bed leveling variant available for the BLTouch, it only takes a few seconds more than leveling the MK3S+.
I do silhouette, I do glowforge, but now I see we need a 3d printer for our board gaming hobby. Is this + software good for a beginner? How's the initial learning curve?
Its good for beginners. Very well done instructions, and works great for printing board game pieces.
Thanks for the great video. I am looking for a printer to print FPV part. As I understand it, most drone parts are best printed with a flexible TPU filament. Form what I am reading, it's best to have a direct drive head for TPU but I think the MK3s might be too expensive for my first printer. I am still overwhelmed with everything I need to know to support my FPV addiction so I want something that's as plug and play as possible. What are your thoughts about the Prusa Mini+ with it's Bowden extruder. Will that work well with TPU or should I just bite the bullet and get the MK3s?
That's awesome man, that's the same reason I got into 3d printing. Get the ender 3 v2 or ender 3 pro. You can print tpu with it no problem. The direct drive just makes it faster. Jump in our discord and I can help you get printing tpu no problem.
Get it
first heard about prusa today and haven't been really looking into 3d printing - guess was waiting for a price drop. unfortunately, I'm at work now and can't really watch the whole video (saw ~4.5min), but just wanted to say I appreciate the video and that I hit the subscribe button :). thx for the time and effort to make this.
Thanks for the support! You can't go wrong with the prusa. Hope to see you around my friend.
big ups from wa bro!
I had originally ordered a FLSUN QQS pro and after a few months it already broke so we are looking at a prusa mk3s+ now
You wont regret it. Well, maybe when you are building it lol. But after its built, you will love it :)
How do you deal with stringing on an all mettle hotend?
Can you share the length and width? I'm considering getting one and I'm not sure if will fit in the space I would put it on. The site just says: "Printer dimensions (without spool) 7 kg, 50×55×40 cm; 19.6×21.6×15.7 in (X×Y×Z)" but I'm not sure what the width and length
nice video!! would love to see another one if you decide to put upgrades on the prusa like a mosquito or klipper!
Good video, we are looking for a printer for my wife's small business and I put the Prusa first on the list a year ago and it seems to be the top pick still. Since we are buying it for her small business money isn't that big a thing (we will cheat and use it for fun as well tho 😂). I like the upcoming channels and your style suits me so I subbed to make my tiny effort to boost this one 👍
You can't go wrong with the Prusa :) I appreciate the support my friend! Look forward to chatting with you in the future.
Nice review
This printer rocks, your review....probabvly also! Thanks
Thanks brother!
I've had the prusa mini+ for a month now. Of the 4 weeks, only 3 of them it was running for it had hotend issue and then the heatbed thermistor went out. Luckily they shipped new one within 3 days. I love the prusa tho! Just wish it didnt have back to back issues which are consistent issue with the mini. I am looking to get the MK3S+ next tho
Thanks for the review. I like a lot of your approach to it, and have subscribed. As a viewer, a couple of suggestions. I'm not sure you need the music the whole way through - I found it pretty distracting. I'd also suggest making a bit more of the structure you wrote down on your paper more implicit in the video itself.
I appreciate the support & feedback!
I have the tevo tornado. What are you topical issues you have from time to rime on you $250 print.
tip: while reading the cons and pros from an actual piece of paper, you should also show the list on the video. other than that, I guess that after upgrading the Ender 3 v2 with $100 + printing all the addons, it become half the price then the Pruce
Agreed! This would have been a good idea. Ty for the tip.
Should I get the Ender? I know it's half the price but I don't want to get a pos.
@@jessehellakoo depends on what you’re getting into 3D printers for. If you see 3D printers as a hobby, the Ender might be a good choice. Lots of little adjustments and mods you can make for it. If you’re looking for a tool, then maybe consider a Prusa. That’s what we have at work, and what I recent ordered for myself as well. The one at work is a “public” printer for anyone to print on, and maintenance has been poorly kept up. It still prints with zero issues all day every day.
@@johnhoo6707 I have en ender 3 v2 and I have prusa mk3s+ 😀
@@johnhoo6707 I ended up getting both because I wanted one I could experience upgrading and getting to know. I recently redid the entire hotend, fans, and housing. The Prusa kit was so awesome to put together.
Nice work 👍😎👍
My tevo i have had nothing but issues. A good learning process with all the upgrading that I have done and learning to track down issues. The current thing I am doing is replacing the X and Y belt drive gears. And just upgraded to the EXOslide Rail system. Why am I changing the drive Gears; it is because I have tried everything else to eliminate my Layer Shift issue and many users review on Amazon said changing the motor gear fixed their issues. I am crossing my figures that this will finally fix once and for all my issues. And maybe this printer was only meant to print PLA. I am printing mainly PETG.
i just finished my i3mk3s+ build yesterday. same story, really impressive results with no more than following the manual. but, like you i really felt i had a great leverage from all my ender 3 experience... i wondered if this would be a good route for a beginner. i suspect you felt like i did about the build... it was tedious. they're not joking when they say you put together every single screw and nut. also the provided tools are sufficient but if i didn't have all ball allen drivers i think i would have gone insane. i guess you could call it a good sort of tedious and with all the 3d printed parts it's a pretty inspiring example of what can be mechanically achieved with the very thing you're building. still i've been studying enough and doing enough of this sort of tinkering with my enders that i kinda was wishing i skipped it and bought the assembled version. it really did take me like 12-14 hours and i haven't even started the mmu unit yet. that's worth a couple hundred bucks and a couple weeks imo. frankly it sat that long in the box before i got to it anyways. you make an interesting point about if you're the tinkering or mechanical type, you might not enjoy owning the prusa, but i'd also argue if you are not the mechanical type you might have trouble assembling the machine even with the extremely well done (but not flawless) 225 step, 130+ page instructions. in the end it was probably a fine process and i'm pretty darn excited about this thing and i'm looking forward to playing with the mmu. oh there is one upgrade to do with it - an enclosure. and exhaust/filtering. and for sure the cement paver makes a big difference. i still need to try the foam underneath... cnc kitchen guy is pretty convincing. damn you're still reading this?
Lol I 100% agree with everything you said. Let me know how the mmu turns out. I've been debating getting that myself. Join our discord brother, would love to chat more with you.
@@509drone2 cool you bet i'll drop by in the next few days. today putting shelves in the laundry room to try to organize the machines a bit better.
@@509drone2 oh yeah one more upgrade - silicone sock. wonder why prusa doesn't include one...
@@svdworkis you're right! Totally forgot about that
Would u recommend buying the Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ kit printer? Is it assembled and is it 100% fully assembled and is there any calibration problem like ENDER 3 printer? Are ther any support issues?
I really like the video thank you fro the information about the printer. The couple of things I would like to note. ( only cause you asked ) Your presentation is good it just repeats itself a bunch and there are way to many ummmm's and uhh's through out. But, thank you again for information about thePrusa i3 MK3S+ printer it had a lot of really good information.
Thanks bro! I appreciate the feedback!
Awesome video I just bought it a few days ago can’t wait for it to arrive. I do want to say one thing though I personally don’t think the time it takes to build is a con more like a pro considering it shows you how to build a 3D printer
Is there a decent amount of printing room? And can I modify it to add a much bigger print plate?
You can't upgrade the build plate size. If you want to upgrade/modify your printer than go with the ender 3
A bit confused by your statement near the end where you said "my $280 printer prints just as good as my $750 printer"... I thought early on when you showed the silver boat versus the black boat you were highlighting how the print quality was better on the Prusa?
Sorry about that. I did not make it very clear if one was better than the other. It really is a very close call. Out of the box, the prusa is better. But once you get your ender 3 tuned, and dialed in it can print just as good. I think it comes down to your budget, and what materials you want to print. Hope that helps my friend.
Hi, great video, I was really looking for this kind of comparison. I do really want the best quality I can get from FDM printer and prusa looks great, I wasn't interesting in upgrading and that kind of stuff but on the other hand the more I learn about 3d printing I do not think it is that difficult and the difference in price is huge. Still can't decide :D would like to have prusa but also it would be great to save some money.
Yea I honestly think you can't go wrong with either. I have a comparison video coming out soon that might help you decide as well.
@@509drone2 thank you, I am looking forward for the comparison
Nice comparison
when you paint the models, do you still see the layers? or how can you make them smooth?
When I paint them i use sand paper and smooth out all the rough parts. But as long as your lines are not super noticeable, you shouldn't see them after painting.
i have a cr10s pro v2... upgrade micro swiss hotend anti backlash stiffer bed springs... but i still cant get that thing to not give me troubles... ever since i upgraded it its been wonky... probably cause im still running factory firmware... all i need to do is push one button and my prusa will be here in 4-5 weeks...
full built about 10 days from the factory, I ordered about 12 days ago, there was 5 days processing time then shipped. I bought a build yourself kit last year and it took a while because they were backed up.. but shipping now is quick.
Yea it seems like others have said the same thing. Glad you got yours quick. How's it been working for you?
@@509drone2 good very minimal issues. Slight learning curve with materials and sheets but dialed in now.
What do you think about BIQU B1? I want to buy my first printer and i think is a better option than the V2 for the same amount of money. Agree?
I just posted a video on the best "first printers" check it out and let me know what you think.
what did you use to glue it together?
as a learning printer would this be good, or is the ender better.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. I would base it around your budget, and if you want to spend the 6 hours or so assembling the prusa. But honestly you can't go wrong with either in my opinion.
hey, can you please do a tutorial showing how to build it it would help me a lot! great vid btw!
Unfortunately I already built mine. I just followed the instructions but there are a few very good build videos already out there, that's part of the reason I did not make one. I'll get a link to one and post it here.
Can you upload programs to a memory card and run programs that way or do you have to be directly Plugged into a computer?
I'm not 100% sure. I havent had to upload any programs to the printer yet. But i THINK you can, if needed. Like running firmware updates, as you would on something like an ender 3.
What you pay for is that quality and that reliability. And frankly it may make sense to do so if you want to keep printing and not tinkering. I believe the Prusa technician who assemble these for customers take an hour and a half to build it - but of course, they do that quite a lot... I've seen other say they built it in 5 hours. So realistically 5-10, depending on how much you focus down. I'm thinking the kit makes sense, you save a few hundred and above all you really learn how the thing works.
As an engineering student who does a lot of this stuff it still took me 20 hours. It is a long long assembly and if you make any mistakes your adding more on top of that.
You guys are full of shit. No way it takes that long to build
You say there's no real mods or improvements you can make on the Prusa but what about putting an enclosure on it or using a Raspberry Pi to make it print via WiFi? 🤔
Thanks.
What type the best 3d print ?. Who is capable using many type of filamen.
Prusa or ender 3
was just given one of these 3rd hand. my SIL couldn't make it work, and I'm struggling. Prints start fine, but on most items things get gummed up and it will pull off the print sheet. I think it may just need new nozzle/ maybe the PETG is old/stale?
I come from an ooold Anet A8. I built it, upgraded it, fixed it, fixed it, fixed it, fixed it... Yeah, I think I'll count the "you don't need to touch it" part as a pro, haha
Haha well said :)
Good video, thanks. I guess you talk about the USA price. In Europe it's cheaper and faster shipping. And please forget about the background music in future videos. It doesn't make the video better in any way. Personally I think it's great that this printer is perfect right from the beginning. Why buy a printer were you know up front that it should be upgrades with this and that?
Hi bro! I´m from Ecuador, this is a very interesting and useful channel! Could you do more videos from the Ender3 V2.... I cant solve my problems whit the stringing...I've done everything you said..but I cant find out!.....
Hey brother, thanks for the support! I will definitely do more videos on the ender 3 v2 in the future.

So what do you do with it other than make little plastic toys ?
Lots of stuff! Whatever you want to create, you can.
Cool review. It's been enjoyable to upgrade my Ender 3 V2 piece by piece. It's like a plant, the more I water it, the more it grows. Thanks man.
Ah, I see what I did wrong, I watered my Ender 3 and now I have to replace my house.
New to 3d printing here, video was alright but would have been nice to see some footage of the printer in action since its a review

4 weeks ago got a Creality Max Neo... cool but not sure I think that the output quality is where I want. so now I'm looking... for a something else :) ..oh, subscribed. :)
Cool review.. Have you tried to print tpu?
Thanks! I have not printed tpu on my prusa yet, but I know it will do it just fine.
@@509drone2 TPU and PETG print fine on the Prusa but excessive bed adhesion can damage the PEI sheet. I use a thin coating of Unscented Aquanet on the regular cemented PEI so the prints would come off without damage.
commenting to help the algorythm
Good lookin my friend.
Should I go for ender 3 v2? Or spend a little more money and get the prusa i3?
Tough call. They are both good printers imo. The prusa is nice, and you will have to do less tinkering with it. But the Ender 3 v2 will print just as nice of quality, but it will take you a little longer to get it fine tuned. It's really up to you, but you can't go wrong with either, so just pick the one that fits your budget the best imo.
Still love my mk3s+ thinking about getting a mk4 at some point they'll be siblings
Can this run multi reels at once or or only one filament at a time?
Its a one filament only machine, however Prusa have a MMU unit (mentioned briefly in this video), its a separate unit that mounts to the top of the frame and allows up to five filament spools to be attached at once so you can mix plastics and colours that the printer itself supports. The mmu is just an automated filament switcher and controlled via Prusa slicer. Its an extra $300 unit that does NOT come with the printer. Not having one I expect it just lines up the correct filament with the filament feed tube on the printer (the printer has auto load/unload capability). So Prusa Slicer just controls the printer and the mmu to co-ordinate when to unload switch and reload a different filament with differing methods for wiping the nozzle too for efficient use of filaments as well as colour positioning accuracy on the print. So simply, no the printer itself can not use more than one filament at a time, but an addon unit can be bought to let you use up to five filaments (any type that the printer itself supports. The Prusa Software already supports full control of it all. If you want to use a different slicer software you may be out of luck.
Greetings, this printer can print HDPE?
thanks
I get it that its exy and mate, in Australia it is even more expensive, believe me but look at business people who run 3D printing farms and guess what, many use Prusa Mk3s. What do you get for your money? Reliability with a capital R. Easy of use, simplicity (as much as you can with 3D printing lol. and quality prints OUT OF THE BOX . . . I don't even own one but by tomorrow afternoon that won't be true. I've made my decision by watching guys like you telling why they do and don't like so 'n so printer. Thank you for the very important tip; put it together very carefully. And yes, that is a pro for me. I luv this sort of stuff. Assembling techy stuff like this is like gravy on potatoes for me. Using it is something I will learn to like, hopefully a lot. But as this make is so reliable there is a very good chance 3D printing will grow on me. So thanks for the pros and cons, I appreciate your opinion and use it along with others to go down this path. I think i watched you droning out in the desert somewhere. I still haven't flown my DJI Mini 2 even after 5 months, just can't find the time.
Good stuff man, Im looking to get an MK3S+ or Creality to replace my shitty acrylic i3 clone
thanks!
How is this a 6k sub channel????!? Yt really be oppressing quality content
People need to understand that the print quality isn't the main focus. Once you reach a certain level it won't make a difference if you have a modded 200$ printer or a 1000$ printer. What you are REALLY paying for is the reliability. As a creality user for at least 3-4 years now, I am making the switch to prusa because the amount of time invested calibrating it and fixing issues is just not worth it long term.
Do they support pay in 4 or do I have to pay all of it at one time
I'm pretty sure you can do payments, yes.
Got both as well. I hardly use my E3v2 because it's got the layer shifting issue and I'm awaitng a 4.2.7 board from Creality. The Prusa i3 is a better printer, period. The cables are properly crimped so it isn't a fire hazard. Crash detection works, power loss recovery works, built-in self-test and calibration is a godsend. Creality basically gave up on the E3v2 and hasn't done jack shit to improving the firmware. e.g. you can't even see the full name of the file you're trying to print. In 2021.I'm running the Jyers firmware and it's a shame that Creality is leaning on the open-source community to have basic features on the E3v2.
I installed the Jyers firmware on my 4.2.7 and it’s a totally different machine. Hope you get it running better.
yea i tend to agree with you.
I ordered mine assembled and it came within a week. Makes me think build orders are prioritized.
Oh wow. This is interesting. Good to know, thanks for sharing the info. (sorry for the late reply)
Nice video. My only comment as in for a possible improvement is to align the presentation to the actual plan which it looks like you have made in advance. Boring, but a good idea before at least you have accumulated more experience with making presentational video. Otherwise - you have the knowledge, the charm and are photogenic. You will succeed. All wind in your sails. You rock.
Hey Kevin, Thank you for video. This example form ender you showed us , I believe , were after weeks and tons of modifications done on printer. This is the point - Prusa you can use very next day after delivery, enders weeks or months later, but you will never reach quality of Prusa has on the beginning.
Except for the mini. It's a wreck.
I bought a ender 3 pro. It has been horrible. I’ve only had one successful build out of probably 50. It’s square and level. So frustrating. It ask started dragging the nozzle across my build plate! I think I’m going to send it back and get this one.
Yea I understand how it can be frustrating at first. I would join our discord server, and talk with some others, ask questions, and also watch more video guides. Hang in there, once you figure out most of the basics it will all start to make sense.
Did it take longer to build the Ender or Prusa?
Prusa. Like 10x longer. The prusa is a better machine though, imo.
