  • Great video. We bought our EV-6 first edition in Feb., 2022 (It's number 1109 of 1500). We do not regret the purchase. It's the beautiful, fun to drive, and it gets great mileage. Given the right weather conditions, we have gotten in the range of 325 miles+ on a full charge. We have driven it twice from Seattle to San Fransico, with one side trip to Bend, OR on the way down, with no charging issues. We did find some chargers not up and running, which was a disappointment, but not a huge issue. It's glacier white with all the GT-line bells and whistles. It's also a major head turner, whereas the Tesla is pretty boring. Thanks for the reviews. This one showed me stuff that I didn't know about it. And I do agree, the dealer we took possession of the car through is less than optimal. KIA needs to work on that.

    • Appreciate the feedback and the experience. My biggest fear is being super low on range and pulling up to a charger that's not functional! That's the one insecurity i still have. I still like mine, although I'll admit my needs are changing to where a full EV may not be the best option but that's for the 2 year video I'm working on. Thanks for sharing and watching!

  • Excellent sum up Emad👍. Absolutely love my GT Line AWD and done my own mods and wrap anyway. But very fair points. I do think you guys in the US seem to have more issues in all honesty and especially with the dealers and service/mark ups. Not had any issues with heating or 12v personally. But maybe thats just because I am fortunate. Today I took my beautiful EV6 to the dealer to sell. Been excellent 6 months with it and the dealer has been fantastic in all honesty. So sorry to see it go but timing is perfect and financially works well for me and just gave the go ahead on the dealerships GT demo, which I look to get in Sept/Oct when their new demo arrives. Got a great deal and excited to get the rocket. Albeit GT Line is very quick in deed and blows most cars off the line regardless. But your vid is spot on and honest and refreshing. For me I would 100% recommend this car and after owning a number of high end cars in the past, this definitely matches up to them. Brilliant vid and keep up the great content. 👍👍

    • Wow thank you so much for the praise and kind words. And at first I was bummed that you liked the gt line so much and was "why are you trading it in??" And then I read that you're getting the GT. That is so awesome. What country are you in? I am visiting Ireland right now and makes me realize that the range for the gt is more than enough in most of the world. In the US, everything I so spread out so that's why we get range anxiety. Plus our charging infrastructure sucks for the most part. The opening of the Tesla chargers will help. As for problems? Yeah the 12v problem seems to be getting worse. I hope I don't deal with it. But I mean, after market will fix it if kia won't. Appreciate the support and congrats on getting the GT. It's a beast.

Many guys here on my local EV6 forum have travelled from Sweden all the way down to Italy. Fair old distance but no real issues with charging. Just need to plan. Great you’re over in Ireland and I hope you have a fantastic time there. Scenery is beautiful if you get chance to travel around. Family from there so know it really well. • Thanks for the one-year review! I'm coming up on the one-year anniversary with my GT-Line as well and I still love it. Fortunately I haven't experienced most of the issues that you and others have, so I've been pretty lucky. I absolutely agree about the dealership experience though; it's certainly not where it should be. I don't know much about the weather "pre-conditioning" aspect so I'm looking forward to your video and seeing if there's something I was supposed to do with our one week of winter we get here in Dallas. :P Thanks also for the tips & tricks section. I was already familiar with many of them but still learned a couple new things, which is amazing because I thought I went through all of the manuals and menus by now. Always happy to learn more about this car! Keep making videos and I'll keep watching 'em! Take care.

    • Thanks! Yeah besides the amp, I haven't been to worried. However, this 12v battery thing has me a bit worried. I just know it's gonna happen to my wife while she's out and about ha ha! However, in not sure I'm gonna sit around wait for a dealer to fix it. I may end up buying a nice battery but let's see what happens. It seems like it's becoming more common. As for pre-conditioning? Yeah I park 99% at home, drive mostly in DFW, and our winters don't get too bad, so I'm not sure it'll ever be a big concern for me unless I move or go on another wintery road trip. I still wanna learn about it as I do want to move back to CO at some point soon.

    • Thanks! I haven't seen too many negative reviews overall. A few of the same complaints, but overall I think people have praised the car. I have seen that a lot of people that have ended up selling the ev6 wasn't necessarily because it was a bad car, but because they just weren't ready for an ev. Or they realized that the Tesla infrastructure worked better for them due to driving habits. I don't fault them for that, but don't bash the car if that's the reason. Glad you like yours and thank you for the nice comments on the video! Injustnhit 16.1k on mine and still like it s lot.

I've also had a 180sx, a first gen Honda Civic Type R, and more recently Ford Focus ST and RS. Looking to upgrade soon to either a Toyota Corolla GR or new Honda Civic Type R. Keeping a keen eye on the sporty cars that Hyundai and Kia have been developing over the last few years too, they've come a long way! I don't think I can make the move yet to EV though, I just can't go past the driving experience of a manual turbo! • Great review, as are all of your videos! I’m not at 12 months of ownership yet, but I feel it’s one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. My 1st EV, definitely won’t be my last. I have a First Edition, so in my opinion, the best of both models. I love the subdued outside styling, since the Urban Yellow really pops with the black trim. Inside, the nice grey headliner lightens up the black interior. The sunroof also gives quite a bit more light, too. I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan, so most of my driving is in the Midwest, yet I’ve taken a road trip to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, had no issue with finding chargers. My outlook on the chargers is a paradigm shift in how one looks at traveling. I’m ok with making some plans ahead of my trip. Looking forward to seeing more videos on your EV6!

  • Great information, and very valuable. I appreciate this video, and eapecially as a current ‘23 EV6 Wind AWD owner. Love the vehicle after 1+ years of ownership myself, but I agree with a lot of the points you made on the few frustrations inside and out. Do you know if it’s possible to get the Tech package installed by KIA after the fact, or is that only possible when the car is actually being made? I opted for the Wind AWD w/o the tech package, and that’s only because the specific dealership I was at only had a few EV6 options in stock, with mostly GT-Lines, limiting my choice. I did my research on the Wind and I couldn’t agree more that it certainly is the right choice all around for the price you pay. I test drove the GT-Line after the Wind, and although I absolutely loved the convenience and uniqueness of the tech package, it ultimately wasn’t a big enough of a dealbreaker for me, as my EV6 had everything else I preferred at the time. If you know anything about possibly getting the tech package installed, or if that’s even possible, please let me know! Loved your insight and really enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work, and thank you kindly!

  • Awesome review. I'd like to ask if your range was being calculated with the upgrade wheels (especially with them being the 20s instead of the 19s, and with the aggressive offset) and with all the aftermarket body upgrades? Reason I'm asking is that we have a stock EV6 AWD Tech model with the stock 19s, and we've gotten between 250 to 260 hwy miles traveling on the multiple road trips fully loaded that we've taken, and that's with 3 full sized adults and one 50lb 4 year old. Granted, where we traveled the speed limits are generally 55, 60, 65 and 70, and on average we set the cruise to 3+ the speed limit, except for the 70 speed limit which we keep to 68mph. Typically we charge to 100% then plot to charge when the SoC is near 10 to 15%. Haven't really done the city range as this is primarily the wife's transportation across states lines as she commutes daily about 45 minutes one way. When its just her...she keeps up with traffic at mostly 70 to 75mph, and we tend to charge around the 30% to 40% mark (up to 80%), and she still is getting around 220 to 235 miles range between charges. Those road trips I mentioned earlier have been in the summer with AC running. We've taken one winter road trip and the range was about 225 miles before stopping to charge (again around 12% SoC). Do the mods take that much range away from the efficiency? Id like to get her another set of wheels, still in 19s but im worried about losing too much range. Thanks again for the review!

Not sure whether the heat pump makes a big mpgE difference but the GT-line has it and the Wind does not. I find the seats too hard for my bony body. The ride quality is so much better than my 2015 Tesla which I traded on the car. And sadly, I paid a premium for the gt-line Aug. 2022 but did get more for my trade than Tesla was offering so it ended up being a wash. Since you did this video the downtime of Kia's servers has improved. P.S. Electrify America continues to have serious reliability problems even after the six months that have passed since you posted this video. There is only (1) ONE, ONE EA super charger in my state. It is always crowded and usually 2 of the chargers require a call to support to get them to connect. Never had this problem with Tesla chargers.

Do wish I had awd because I’ve had it the past 10 years and others in the 10 years before that. Pretty cool to see someone go the tuner look with it. I’m more point A to point B now so I don’t like to standout anymore, and have people saying they saw me, or get a crowd of people when I stop somewhere. I spent 20 years in the racing world and it’s nice going under the radar. I get my thrills on 2 wheels. Much cheaper to go fast and much more fun considering traffic doesn’t exist for bikes. Love what you did with it though. I’ve never been a glamour car guy. I was more the guy with a clean sleeper stock looking Civic or Evo that can walk a Lambo. But that’s also partially a bit of copium for me because back when I bought this in a rush to beat the passage of the IRA, the car I bought was the only EV6 I could find to buy in my entire urban metro. I’m very happy with it, the color, and the fact that I didn’t have to spend an extra ~$4k for awd, but I bet I’d change my tune if I had the heat pump and extra power. On the plus side though, without that front motor I could swap out my front trunk box for a larger tool box to get more front storage! Ya win some ya lose some.

I know there is tons of tech and safety for that but does this make the floorboard warm. Like does it heat up the car a little bit. Lastly how well do the ventilated seats work? That's subjective though because some people don't think they work very well but to me they feel great. I live in Texas and they seem efficient and functional.

    • 6 months with a GT! That's awesome. I'd love it. No concern on range for you?

      @Emadifications@Emadifications Жыл бұрын
    • @@Emadifications the reason why I considered the GT in 1st place, was cuz in Austria you get tax cuts if u buy a company car. Yet to get those subventions the car shouldn’t costs more as 80k Euro. The GT here cost 79k Apart of that I was looking for something which is worth the money. To give a bit more context, I own and drive several more cars, as like a Porsche, I have passion for old Jag’s as like the X300 XJR, and recently our ‘73 Charger got fully restored. I have to say at first I was skeptical about the GT. Yet I knew I am not gonna buy a Tesla again, it’s simply not worth the money. So I have tested the Mustang Mach E GT, the car in Austria is about 86k. The range is even lesser than in the Kia GT, than I drove the EV6 AWD GT-Line. It felt like a “real” car compared to the Mustang, and felt probably build compared to the Tesla. But i wanted some more juice, so I ended up with the GT. My issue at 1st with the GT was not really the range, my concern was more how fast you can charge it for real. The way i drive, which is almost 40% in sport mode in the city, I average something like 200 miles (4 days ago it was snowing) The point is from 12% to 80% I am charging it in about 12min, the Mustang would need 40ish minutes. Which means for me one cigarette 🚬 and looking up new mails. The car looks for me inside and as outside great, it drives really good, inside it feels like a proper car, not as like an overpriced plastic box. The suspension is awesome considering the fact it doesn’t have air suspensions. If the GT would be available with a V8 or even V6 with a turbo I would buy one more asap. Sure there are some things which could be improved, yet if I take in consideration that u get 7yrs of warranty on the entire car, and value for money , I’d say it’s hard to beat..

Then within two years, I had to have the rotors replaced, twice. The first time Kia payed, but they would not pay the second time. I ended up bringing the car to a local tire shop and had the car fixed there. But dealing with the Kia dealership was a hassle. Unprofessional and rude. • I blast by 80% of the gas cars on the road in my little Bolt, something 2 or 3 seconds faster than it would be overkill. There's no kill like overkill. I love my Bolt, but I want AWD. Faster charging would be nice, but I don't do road trips often so it's not a big deal. Google maps and ABRP work fine, but does the EV6 built in nav find nearby chargers? Subscription plans? For a car?! Ew. I went through 4 Chevy dealerships before finding one that was actually knowledgeable and helpful for my Bolt. Spradley in Pueblo is good if anyone's curious. $60k is waaaay out of my price range though. Miles per kWh would be more helpful than raw range since that's so variable. I get around 3.25mi/kWh going 75mph from Pueblo to Canon and back, and 3.5-5 city driving. I've gotten as low as 2 when driving from Canon to Denver when it was -20F out, and I've gotten over 7 coming down from Grand Lake to Denver. In good weather driving sanely I can go Pueblo to Denver and back without charging, ~240mi. Most of the time I charge a bit in Denver, just 120v overnight, then stop for 15-30m at a fast charger on the way back just in case. Driving with traffic, 80+mph in some parts of the route, or when it's cold out it can take up to 70% of the battery to make the trip. I put some Tron inspired pinstriping and nicer wheels on my Bolt. Wanna get a tow hitch, but it's $800 installed then the price of the trailer. I've got the 2017 Bolt, which pretty much doesn't have suspension lol It's worse than my old old Subaru or my aunt's old Jeep Wrangler. If you like stiff suspension then you'd like the older Bolts. Supposedly it's better in the new ones but I haven't driven them. Really considering the Ioniq 5 once I need a new car, but thanks for showing off the EV6 it's definitely moved up there in my consideration.

  • Thanks hheaps for your EV6 Videos, I have a Stinger GT and I am looking to change to the EV6 AWD GT-Line in Australia, this has really helped - the one question I do have, as a family of 5, with my 7yr old still in a Child seat, do you feel there is less or more width in the back in the EV6?

    @rickvandriel7589@rickvandriel758911 ай бұрын
    • They feel quite similar. The EV6 seems to have more space in the leg area. Check out the video I recently posted with two car seats. It's fairly narrow, but not worse than the stinger. If anything, it may be a little better. However, the stinger hatch area was longer, but limited due to sloping roof line. Similar problem on the ev6 but it's taller. We've put 2 adults with my kid in a booster in the back comfortably.

  • It's SO refreshing to see a review that isn't all gosh golly amazed as if it was sponsored by or in collaboration with the manufacturer's marketing department. Excellent suggestions on the need to protect the paint and interior plastics. By touch button, I assume you mean buttons with haptic feedback? Nobody else covers the weird rear seat cup holder angle issue - thanks for that. Ditto on the floor mats insight, the dead stop launch clunk noise, the dead/dying amp, and early failing 12V battery problems. To me, that list of issues signals low consideration for Kia owners after purchase - that's a big red flag and ownership deterrent for me.

    • Car has to be manufactured in the US under a certain price point. Kia and Hyundai's are obviously out on those. Really just need to find out what cars are manufactured in the US. $55k MSRP cap, among many other things. First Trump obliterated the first time home buyers incentives mere months before I bought my first home, now the government is cutting back on buying incentives on the very EV that catches my eye. Life/fate does NOT like the thought of me saving any money apparently.

  • Hey! Thanks for the great 1 year wrap up. I own a GT-Line and have the 20” wheels that come with the AWD model. I don’t mind the look of the wheels but I think the offset is not the best. Do you have any recommendations to get the “correct” stance? I am not interested in it being as aggressive as your wheelset but I want the right look. Any ideas for spacer sizes?? Thanks in advance for any beta!

    • In think about a 10 would be perfect but the problem is you can't really get 10s with extended studs. You could maybe slap on 3mm without extended studs but I probably wouldn't go bigger than that with out longer studs. I believe you can get 15mm (maybe) but def know you can get 20mm with extended studs but that makes the offset about the same as mine. 10-15 would be perfect. But you may need to replace factory studs with longer ones since I don't think those spacers come with em. Those wheels are great..it's a shame they're kinda sunk in.

  • I wouldn't buy a Tesla for any reason. I truely believe once more infrastructure of public chargers kicks in... like more EVgo and EA puts more "reliable" stations every 50 miles, it would pretty much solves range anxiety. Even in California, I took my EV6 for a road trip, I had no issues with finding or waiting for a station during a long weekend. I think it will get better sometime this year and especially next year. They have to... because more and more new EVs are coming out. I like some stations has about at least 10 station per location like walmarts by the cities.

    • I would buy a Tesla for a few reasons. Our local dealer wants $7,000 above MSRP. Tesla charging stations are not only more reliable, but often times have bathrooms, coffee, stores in the vicinity. Our CCS chargers are in very isolated areas for the most part. Hopefully charging will improve in the near future.
