New ‘Jeopardy’ Host Quits on 1st Day After Comments Surface

Mike Richards has stepped down as the new “Jeopardy!” host, just nine days after he was tapped as the surprise replacement for the beloved Alex Trebek, who died of pancreatic cancer last year. Richards, the show’s executive producer, became embroiled in controversy after it was revealed he had made insensitive remarks about women, Jews and homeless people, among others, on a podcast he hosted. Earlier this week, he issued an apology about the comments. The show will return to rotating guest hosts.

I think another thing people were annoyed about is that he's executive producer, he basically hired himself; the guest host search was all a sham. Anyway I'm still hoping for Levar Burton or Ken Jennings.
Not a fan of Jennings as he has skeletons in his closet too. But I'd be okay with Levar. Never heard a bad word a out him. And he has a personality, something Mike Richards is lacking.

I'm surprised that Brad didn't get a guest host spot. Maybe next season. Ken seems like the natural choice but I wonder how it would play out when they have the super champion tournaments with all the top winners over the years. Would he be excluded from them?

I don’t think he should have been chosen in the first place. There were plenty of better hosts such as Ken Jennings Levar Burton, and Buzzy Cohen, yet they made the executive producer the host. Nobody can replace Alex, but I know there’s better options for a replacement.

Just use Ken Jennings… obviously the months and months of a choosing a new host were a waste of time since he chose himself… but as somebody who was honored enough to do a book report on the great Alex Trebek in December 2020, this is NOT what he wanted! I read “who is Alex Trebek” by Lisa Rogak who literally interviews Alex MULTIPLE TIMES, and He clearly stated when he either passes or retires, he doesn’t want somebody who’s already a celebrity or is extremely politically tied… which was about everybody they chose to guest host on the show. I agree, nobody can be nearly as great as Trebek, but at least Ken Jennings has been on the show as a contestant and knows what it’s like, and knows how to keep things moving and fast paced and not about him. This was just the excuse, the executives saw howangry the people was for the deception and there was also the fact that those who were up for the job didn't know he was also up for the jobwhile he was giving them directions how to do the job and there was also the fact that his episodes were transmited the days that historically had better ratings and the one who were favorites were transmited when the olimpics were happening.
