Ayy man today I go over some of the most recent examples of fighters that got title shots based on storyline or name value more than actually deserving the title shot obviously thinking about the main event of UFC 299 Sean O'Malley vs Chito Vera and some obvious choices like Jorge Masvidal, Chael Sonnen, Ciryl Gane and many more.   • The biggest lamb served to a slaughter I’ve ever seen in the UFC is Joe Soto being given served TJ Dillashaw…a title shot on Joe’s UFC debut, and this is coming off of TJ absolutely dismantling Barao after his 32 fight unbeaten streak 💀 The funniest part is that Joe Soto lasted basically as long as Barao did, til halfway into R5

I thought TJ getting a title shot against Sterling after a loss to Triple C and split decision against Sandhagen was crazy. Essentially every Brock Lesnar title shot.   • They did not give Chito a shot as a favor to Chito or even for the storyline, they did this as a favor to O'malley so he can duck Merab/Cory/Umar which are much harder stylistic fights for him, to give him the best chance of keeping the belt and then calling for a 145 double champ fight. So the actual undeserving person in a title fight here is Sean O'malley, he should be stripped of the belt or demoted to interim champ because Merab has been #1 contender since the Yan fight and just fought again weeks before this, blatantly ducking the #1 contender for is grounds for stripping of a belt. In boxing Merab would be the mandatory challenger right now.
