  • Bedtime, I know you are scowering in this comment section. Explain to me while Gaethje doesn’t deserve Makachev. They haven’t fought before, he just beat Porrier and Fiziev, who are two top 3 level contenders. Being 35 isn’t a reason because you chose cannonier and he is 40. Now is the time for gaethje, or we will never see the fight happen. Also, gaethje is at the top of his game at this moment. I think the reaction to gaethje beating fiziev was much more underwhelming than it should have been. If Gaethje KOs Holloway or even just beats him, I think the title shot is inevitable. Arman is 27 and he will have ample time to fight makachev in his career. Arman also lost to Gamrot, who is on the same win streak by the way.

    • At 155 and below no one aged 35 and above has won a title fight. That’s why I want to see Cannonier but not Gaethje get a shot, like I said, I wanted him to get the shot after 291 but it’s gonna be too late when he gets one now. Arman and Charles are in their primes and I’d say Gaethje is definitely near the end of his career by his own words.

    • @@bedtimemma I hear this stat too much, and people use it as a conclusion more than they should. There is validity in the fact that older fighters will have more difficulty in lower weight divisions, mostly because of the speed. The issue I have with what you are saying is that most metrics are continuous, and a combination of other factors. I know Volk just got flatlined, but he has been in his mid-30s throughout his title reign, but his age was never noticeable because his improvement in skill was so quick. I mean, he was 34 when he 5-0d Holloway. And when you look at his last fight, he looked good. Topuria said he was fast, Volk looked fast, and Volk won the first round You don’t hit a certain age, and have a sudden decline in skill. Hell, Gaethje is probably at the age where he is declining, but it is a slower process than people think. The other factors relating to his skill level probably outperform his aging, and a few month delay on the title fight shouldn’t make a difference.
