  • I had a chance to visit this magical Angkor Complex with the Kulen Hill Waterfalls as a young boy with my family back in the 60s before the war erupted. Sadly, most of my family members did not survive the genocide from 1975 to 1979 under the Pol Pot dictatorship. Only memory lives on. Peace!

  • Angkor vat temple has distinctive Indian features as cambodiia had very special relation with Chola Empire of south India which spread from myanmar, thailand, Indonesia and parts of the phillipines, the cholas were a mercantile empire which traded with China and Europe and middle east, they spread culture and civilization anywhere they went and was a continous empire for nearly 8 centuries, Indian kings had marital relations with southeast asian royal families and military alliances uptill philipines, vietnam and korea.

    • early khmer did adopt the Indian culture through Pallava, and adopted the varaman title but the title had no relation to indian blood. I think thats what had a lot of Indians and our neighboring country to try to discredit our ancestors from building these great complex and try to say it wasn't the khmer that built it.They say Khmer people are worshipping the ancestors of another culture. And a lot of tamil ppl try to claim it was their ancestors that built it. If the tamil kings had built it , why did the inscriptions are in ancient khmer?!! to all the khmer doubters answer that question.😊

I couldn't wait to see the original birth place of the iron keys or locks that locked the the rock together. I have three questions: 1. How do the ancient Khmer extract the iron ore What kinds of technologies do they use? Perhaps, Pnom Dek, the iron mountain, could be a facilities where the Khmer artisans forged the metal. 2. The foundation of Angkor Wat is massive. Where do they get the sand from to fill the this gigantic foundation?

    • Spiritually, temples should rise up, whereas graves/tombs burrow down like caves or catacombs....Not to mention one is built, the other carved. Buildings required structured and foundation to begin with. Maybe that's why one is more well known and admired than the other.

Angkorwat is a wonderful monument but u should not say that elloracave is not a big wonder. Its much harder to carve than to build something up. And taking baout architecture bharatiya architecture is the best and the oldest in the world. If u cant agree i suggest u learn more about the indian architecure sanathadharma architecture.😂

But over time with looters and during The Genocides (1975-1979) mostly of the sites has been bombard and looters were vandalize and destroyed parts of its statues to removed the precious stones that it’s been hidden. My ancestors , grandparent we’re native from Siem Riep and live only 20 miles from Angkors Wat its full of giant forestry wilds animal it’s a jungle sceneries ,nowadays everything it’s been scarce since the War that killed half of Millions Khmers population. 🙏😔❤️🇰🇭

    • Film makers don't have endless time or video allotment on show. They could only show single structures well. But, as you noted, this was more than a temple (the most shown structure) or just a city, although this 11th-12th century CIVIL ENGINEERING --- at a city scale, with perfect modern day GEOMETRIC shapes and constructions --- was head and shoulder above all others of mankind from around the world at that same period. This, in fact, is only the center of a Kingdom, as you accurately note. You will see these same architecture in southern LAOS as well.... built by the same mighty Khmer empire... Only three civilizations that built large city scale structures as complex and equisite as this: Classical Greece, Ancient Rome, and Angkor Wat/the Khmer of Cambodia. Unfortunately, Rome and Greece came a bit too early, so while they both had exquisite individual structures --- think of the "most beautiful" or, at least, the MOST COPIED building of all, the PARTHENON, atop of the Acropolis ---- they never approach Angkor City (as a city) that was basically a MODERN DESIGNED and BUILT city, except it was done in the 11th - 12th century. For a moment, just imagine those extremely gifted ENGINEERS and PLANNERS/rulers had today's hardened metals, composites, and more refined tools as well as heavy lifting equipments & vehicles! Roughly 95% of the other groups and tribes and even civilizations in other parts of the world, big and small, didn't built at the size, scope, or civil engineering refinement as the Greeks, Romans, and Khmers... so even if you see one or two structures here and there, you sort of doubt of THEY TOO could rival these three civilizations who, again, had very minimal modern metallurgy, synthetics/composite materials, heavy lifting equipment, etc. and yet who built whole CITIES still have the power to make MODERN DAY CIVIL ENGINEERS's mouths drop, even if modern engineers could build 150 storey towers straight up...

  • This article is about to show the interesting facts about Cambodia. Ankor wat Facing to the west, because our ancestors built this monument for the future even, when the second sun comes ,the west will become to be the east , and a very even will happen in Cambodia. You know a richest country in the last day ,that your Bible says An island in the east and the island in the west, where ? It's Cambodia , not Philippines. Our ancestors still alive, they are preparing for a time comes, they do meditation and live in a deep inside of mountains. Sorry i forgot how English called it. (Kanal) We are Khmer but the word khmer was written in complex style ,was read as khem mac rac not khmer. When Thai occupied Cambodia they read this word as khmen(r) not in the complex style, in normal style, so the word khmer was born , so we have to names khmer and Khem mac rac. Khmer had the killing field because of Vietnamese they pretending to be khmer, impostor like Pol Pot , even Hun Sen , too. Now Hun Sen is pushing khmer to very danger of nuclear by giving land to China, our ancestors, too predicted that...

  • The building is not shrouded in mystery for us Kui people (Indigenous peoples) who are skilled at iron production, and we had supplied all these iron tools to build this temple. Kui people had hugely contributed to building all these temples, but their work is rarely mentioned in the Cambodian official history education system.
