Cambodia's Temple Kingdom | The Mark Of Empire | Angkor

A thousand years ago, the Angkor Empire conquered large swathes of Southeast Asia to become one of the region's greatest powers. Host Peter Lee journeys through Cambodia to learn how life in Angkor still revolves around the ebb and flow of the floodwaters that come with the yearly monsoons, and how the ancient Khmer overcame the environmental challenge and became masters of engineering, building canals and reservoirs to act as flood defences and irrigation channels to boost their rice harvests. The Khmer also built a network of roads to exert their authority far and wide, and created a social system of education, taxation, and even healthcare that revolved around temples. Peter visits the Angkor Empire's crowning glory - Angkor Wat - the world's largest religious monument to see how it was built, and how intricate carvings detailing life a thousand years ago are linked with a modern Cambodian tradition.

    • The king who built Angkor Wat, had studied and lived in the kingdom of Java (Indonesia) during the Sailendra dynasty. This is shown in the inscriptions found(K 235 Sdok Kok Thom, Yang Tikuh and Vat Smrong). The building is similar to the Prambanan (Hindu) and Borobudur (Buddhist) temples in Java (Indonesia).

And it's said that there are more than one inscriptions from different time periods giving conflicting account of the same Jayavarman. Some believe Java actually refers to Champa with whom the Khmer were at war with for centuries.

Angkor wat who built it? believe it or not History of the Khom people They are Thai ancestors. He ordered the construction of Angkor Wat. is the inventor of the Khom script which is adapted from the Indian script This is a problem that Everyone wants all the truth. It is now 2023. In the ancient world, the Land of Suvarnabhumi, The Lavo Kingdom was the birthplace of the KHOM people. Lavo stone castles are everywhere in Thailand. It was built before the Angkor Wat period. I repeat before the Angkor Wat period. For example, Phra Prang Sam Yot in "Lop buri"province Prasat Hin Phanom Rung in "Buri ram" Province of Thailand. I repeat The KHOM people are not Khmer(cambodia). The KHOM people are the ancestors of Siam. Ancient stone inscriptions in Burma called the Siamese as KHOM.

    • I was kind of bummed with this video. It is great but it doesn't show the scale of the Angkor complex. There are so many temples and they only showed like 4. It almost made it seem like that was "it". And I don't mean "it" as in it's not amazing what they showed but it made it seem like what they showed was everything built there. I went to like 20 sites, like the one with the statue that is supposedly a kings dog? (if I remember right), Pre Rup, there is so much more there. It is so amazing.

Because it was easier for them to pronounce. They wouldn’t like it if Khmer was to rename their countries something else. One example would be Native Americans they renamed them to Indians, because it was easier for them. Look what happened to Native Americans, they lost their entire nation to the non natives.

I was also amazed at how the mid of the hot tropical and high humid country felt like a cool breeze as soon as I stepped into the Angkor Watt walking along the corridor. It was like the natural flow of cool AC being built naturally to provide the cool and freshness of the air to eliminate the hot sticky humid air. I will always dream of going back and learn more about it. I can't say enough of how proud I am to be part of the Khmer Empire.

They are a giant media company from Singapore. And they also get funding from the Singapore government. So, they don't have any issue with money, what they only want is a good promotion. That's why they put this documentaries on KZhead for free.

    • True. His analysis of temple architecture and Indian engineering, is just fascinating. Nothing was ever built without purpose. Too bad not many people know this. However, I'm now beginning to see some western channels check out his in-depth study of ancient Hindu temples and structures. Fascinating study in plain sight....but still largely unknown to those who have little understanding of ancient Indian architecture and their importance. His channel is a boon for us mystery lovers.
