Why China’s Navy Isn’t Intervening In Red Sea Houthi Attacks On Shipping

Amid the Houthis’ attacks on ships in the Red Sea to protest Israel’s war on Gaza, political analysts note that China has been largely silent about opposing the Iran-backed Yemeni rebels. Though China has been hurt by global trade disruptions, and suffered a strike on a Chinese oil tanker in March 2024, experts say that Beijing remains reluctant to join the US-led coalition to curb attacks.

    • @@ZX235w3 China is heavily involved in international trade, but is not involved in the chaos created by the US and its allies, including in the Red Sea. The chaos in the Red Sea is entirely part of the work of Western countries. Therefore, China has no reason to get involved in what is happening, especially militarily, even though China continues to speak out and strive for peace. What's strange is that you are trying to blame China for not wanting to get involved militarily against the Houthis, even though you know the root of the problem lies with the US and its allies who always position themselves as police, prosecutors and at the same time as judges. You must have seen that the US and its western allies are the ones who most often reject UN resolutions for a ceasefire and efforts to bring about peace.

When the conflict occurred in Sudan in 2023, the Chinese navy was also present in the Red Sea, not to get involved in the conflict, but to protect and evacuate their people. Among the 47 member states of the Council, 28 voted in favor, 6 voted against, and 13 abstained, and the resolution was passed. • From the Ukraine, war to the Gaza war, China has largely been seen as "all talks, no action" but more opportunistic from the business point of view. Sooner or later, China has to come out of hiding and put some skins in the game if it wants to be a dominant global power.

    • China want to be a responsible and fair Global power. Not one that act on behalf of the west and US interest. Anyway, the Houthi gave full clearance to Chinese vessels to use the Suez canal. In fact, it is the American and UK vessels that try to make the Chinese ships as shield to confuse the Houthi and pass the canal.

    • China can do whatever it feels like it wants to do. Proving how powerful you are from flexing your muscles all the time only shows the rest of the world you only have one weapon. Any country can do that. China could destroy this World by stopping World consumerism and there ain't nothing the western world could do to stop that with its needy and sooky like population's
