So I watched it last night. I know probably no ones gonna read this pointless review but- I'm going to do it anyway. The movie itself was okay, not the worst thing I've ever seen; but as an adaptation of the original mulan, it was just, just bad. The only thing I really enjoyed about the movie was the cinematography; loved the landscapes, the fight scenes not so much. Character development was painful to watch. To be honest, the first few minutes looked very promising. I really wish they would've stuck closer to the original. I hated that they made her have like powers and stuff. Like literally every disney movie nowadays makes the main character have some kind of super power or- The main character is just _born_ special; the characters never work to achieve their goal, they only achieve their goal brcause they're _"special"_ So, would I watch it again? _No_ Was it a horrible movie? _Not the worst_ And yeah.

More than half of the bad reviews on this movie doesn't even have anything to do with the elements of the film, it's all about their political views. Other negative reviews are actually reasonable. Like the addition of chi, which I agree with. Although Mulan doesn't actually go crazy with her chi (shapeshifting and other supernatural stuff), it's disappointing to know that she has this power. It completely erased the humanity she had in the source material, and the animated movie.

So I watched it last night. I know probably no ones gonna read this pointless review but- I'm going to do it anyway. The movie itself was okay, not the worst thing I've ever seen; but as an adaptation of the original mulan, it was just, just bad. The only thing I really enjoyed about the movie was the cinematography; loved the landscapes, the fight scenes not so much. Character development was painful to watch. To be honest, the first few minutes looked very promising. I really wish they would've stuck closer to the original. I hated that they made her have like powers and stuff. Like literally every disney movie nowadays makes the main character have some kind of super power or- The main character is just _born_ special; the characters never work to achieve their goal, they only achieve their goal brcause they're _"special"_ So, would I watch it again? _No_ Was it a horrible movie? _Not the worst_ And yeah.
How she could have a character development ? Asking just because i never knew what that means

More than half of the bad reviews on this movie doesn't even have anything to do with the elements of the film, it's all about their political views. Other negative reviews are actually reasonable. Like the addition of chi, which I agree with. Although Mulan doesn't actually go crazy with her chi (shapeshifting and other supernatural stuff), it's disappointing to know that she has this power. It completely erased the humanity she had in the source material, and the animated movie.

2009 Chinese live action version of Mulan that was directed by Jingle Ma is far more better and well made than this 2020 version. This is just another forgettable live-action by Disney again, just saying lol.
