He might have been buying something for later (off duty). CDL drivers get tested : pre-employment, then randomly every year. Further, if a serious accident occurs, the DOT accident checklist determines if the driver must be drug tested immediately - drivers must comply. @@ToddDouglasFox I guess. To me there were two bad moves in this video; one, the trucker in the middle lane knew that the one on his right was faster, and should have applied that slow down peddle to let him pass, or even should have been on the right in the first place. And the fella 9n the right shouldn't be cutting things so close. That said, the fella on the right executed perfectly, so while the argument can be made that he executed an "unsafe" move, he executed it safely. All of us sometimes make the mistake of doing things a little too "fast," be it in our trucks or our four wheelers. How many of us drive over the speed limit, even if it's just a couple mpg, or force a merge, or race to get around vehicles we perceive to be slower than us. TBH these kinds of things are indicative of our complacency with traffic laws rarely being enforced, and also the overall belief that the universe ends at our bumper, aka that crazy sense of entitlement we all sometimes have. I wouldn't say this trucker was a "bad" driver, he just made a "bad" choice, as well all sometimes do. Thankfully, it worked out well in the end.

The trucker you’re referring to that was slower and not in what you say is the correct lane (the one who was properly passing the slower trucker up ahead on the right) is the one who has this channel, Mike. I watch him because he almost never errors. He’s a smooth ride. When truckers make mistakes, it’s a lot of tonnage going down. That is why truckers need to be more careful and basically make no unforced errors. The one who took the greatest risk in this video was the one who didn’t need to, his error was unforced. That is my problem with that particular trucker. Why oh why must some truckers have to get somewhere 2 seconds sooner I’ll never understand. His move wasn’t even slightly entertaining for me tbh.
