  • There's more to driving trucks than fitting them in tight spaces, doing it safely is important too. This move definitely wasn't done safely, a lot more clearance should have been used. There was no room for error, if something went wrong there's three trucks involved in an incident with no room to avoid it.😢

    • He might have been buying something for later (off duty). CDL drivers get tested : pre-employment, then randomly every year. Further, if a serious accident occurs, the DOT accident checklist determines if the driver must be drug tested immediately - drivers must comply. But yes, it is a good idea to allow a bit of room for a big truck on the road. Truck drivers appreciate this, I know I do.

    • @@ToddDouglasFox And I am a commercial truck driver 🙂 If you are saying cheating is possible, then I agree. If you are suggesting this is widespread among truckers, I beg to differ. The method you are citing requires year-round ready access/refrigerated storage of clean urine sample, and this can be logistically difficult, especially for long distance truckers. Also, careful sleight of hand at the testing site is a must. I have done years of long distance trucking, and I don't think I ever encountered any smell of weed at truckstops. Again, I am not as naive as to claim ALL TRUCKERS NEVER USE DRUGS. But if you pick a random commercial truck driver and a random passenger car driver, statistical probability of the latter being drunk or high is gazillion times greater than the former.

    • False: for the vast majority of us it's "let's not kill anyone or ourselves today." Truckers account for 3.5%-4.5% of accidents year in and year out. For the most part, we are not the problem out here.

      @ToddDouglasFox@ToddDouglasFox9 ай бұрын
    • @@ToddDouglasFox I guess. To me there were two bad moves in this video; one, the trucker in the middle lane knew that the one on his right was faster, and should have applied that slow down peddle to let him pass, or even should have been on the right in the first place. And the fella 9n the right shouldn't be cutting things so close. That said, the fella on the right executed perfectly, so while the argument can be made that he executed an "unsafe" move, he executed it safely. All of us sometimes make the mistake of doing things a little too "fast," be it in our trucks or our four wheelers. How many of us drive over the speed limit, even if it's just a couple mpg, or force a merge, or race to get around vehicles we perceive to be slower than us. TBH these kinds of things are indicative of our complacency with traffic laws rarely being enforced, and also the overall belief that the universe ends at our bumper, aka that crazy sense of entitlement we all sometimes have. I wouldn't say this trucker was a "bad" driver, he just made a "bad" choice, as well all sometimes do. Thankfully, it worked out well in the end.

      @adamanonymous6297@adamanonymous62979 ай бұрын
    • @@adamanonymous6297 I didn’t call him a bad driver. Obviously he knows millimeters. The trucker you’re referring to that was slower and not in what you say is the correct lane (the one who was properly passing the slower trucker up ahead on the right) is the one who has this channel, Mike. I watch him because he almost never errors. He’s a smooth ride. When truckers make mistakes, it’s a lot of tonnage going down. That is why truckers need to be more careful and basically make no unforced errors. The one who took the greatest risk in this video was the one who didn’t need to, his error was unforced. That is my problem with that particular trucker. Why oh why must some truckers have to get somewhere 2 seconds sooner I’ll never understand. His move wasn’t even slightly entertaining for me tbh. Not all of us do what he did and in fact I hadn’t seen this tight move by any driver other than some motorcyclists.

      @ToddDouglasFox@ToddDouglasFox9 ай бұрын
    • @@ToddDouglasFox I follow Mike for the same reasons, and also I didn't mean to insinuate anything on your end. I guess I was speaking more in generalizations. And you are correct, the fella on the right shouldn't have made the moves that he did. That said, Mike also could have tapped the brakes when he saw what that guy was doing. My point is that we all have parts to play, we all could do things better when driving, we all sometimes bad decisions and dumb mistakes. I definitely agree that I don't always understand why we all sometimes need to get somewhere a couple of seconds faster, but then there's that other side of me that wonders why we all sometimes drive like that brake pedal doesn't exist. And when I say "we all" I most definitely include myself.
