  • They are gorgeous. Another possibility for getting rid of the bubbles is a long neck lighter. A torch or alcohol can shorten the life span of the mold. As well if the flame from the torch gets too close to the mold, it can glue the mold to the resin

  • The Six Million Dollar Serving Board! "We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better, stronger, prettier!". And a new coffee mug concept to go with your breakfast rolls: 'I like to do things that go round!" After more than a thousand comments, I'm sure folks liked the fish tail serving boards the most - they looked easier to do and those hypershift colors were fantastic! Thanks for these, Jim!

  • You could trace the outside of the mold and cut out the template then use a divider/compass with a pencil set to the width of the side of the mold then trace it around the template to get the inside dimension. Then trim it off on the band saw. The other idea is to pour a half inch thick board made from Designer Epoxy resin and use it as a template.

  • Just found your channel about 2 months ago. I absolutely got hooked instantly! This is my first time commenting. My dad was a wood worker, welder, and loved fishing/hunting when it came to his hobbies. I learned alot from my father when it comes to shop and outdoors. We lost him 4 years ago to an aggressive brain cancer that took him in a fast 6 months! Not a day goes by where I don't think about what ive lost and cant get back. This video just made me think of him so much. The black fish board was practically made for him and I. First off a fish are favorite past time both fishing and fish keeping. Bright green my favorite color with black. Purple my father's favorite color over black. He always said dont be the type of man who says you can't love purple or pinks. I wish one day to have or create such a beautiful piece of art to remember my father. I would hang that on my wall with his name and years carved in it. Sorry for such a heavy message as my first post, but thank you for this sir. I was smiling the entire video and felt like I was watching it with my dad over my shoulders. Thank you 100% subscriber for life!

The contrast between the very dark epoxy & the lighter wood with the dark veins was almost like a picture. Somehow reminded me of a forest at night, but that’s my brain!

  • Hi 👋, Jim , I hope you are keeping safe and well, I’ve only just started watching I thought I better say before I forget, if you put your mould down onto the board and draw around the outside of it, that’s the mould that is, then measure the thickness of the wall of the mould and then reduce the drawing that you’ve done around the outside of the mould by the thickness that should give you a pretty good size piece of board to go inside the mould, it should work he might have to titivate it about a little bit 😂,

It warped! I put Silicone molds in my oven and bake them at some were between 300°F and 425°F and use them over and over Thank you and PLEASE Keep turning I love your you tube Channel I am just learning to Turn but I love it!

  • Please don't apologize for the length of the video, I love the long videos! And I really enjoyed seeing you do flat work as well. The charcuterie boards and serving trays came out beautifully! Like anything you do, I know I'd be more than happy to own one of these, so I'm sure whoever commissioned them will be ecstatic! Especially the Mrs!! Poor thing had to wait so long for her board! Shame shame. Lol I'm sure she'd rather wait to have a gorgeous piece like you did for her now. Can't wait to see next weeks video! I didn't know Designer Epoxy had such nice molds too! Will we see some Christmas project or ornaments?

  • Ok. First of all I am sorry my comment is so late. Was a little under the weather and nodded off during the premier. I am sad that those are spoken for. Beautiful work as always. Like you I love the hyper shift. It just adds something special. I find that one of the frustrations and joys of being a maker is when things don't go as planned. Having to make corrections drives you crazy. But there is a certain satisfaction in seeing the finished project turn out well. And you Learn something to boot. Excellent and wonderful creations.

  • I started watching you a couple months ago. Just learning to turn wood after using resin for molds and tumblers for quite a while. I love the beauty in spalted and what others would call ugly or rotten wood. I ordered some designer epoxy and turned a spalted branch then cut it about 6 inch lengths (3 pcs) and cast it using my vacuum chamber and cold method. I just got some carbide tools today and hopefully will try to use them a bit tomorrow on some old stuff. You inspire me. You are doing the things I have been dreaming about! Love the polka dot bowl!!!

  • The boards are beautiful. Now this is a project my husband and I could do together. Him the wood & sanding, me the resin. Once we get his small wood shop set up. See the reason this comment is so late is it was a busy day. We closed on our first ever house. Now we start making it accessible for me. Then his work shop. Then mine. Don’t let your new place get you down. It’s nerve wracking. But it is doable.
