Today we work on this old Michigan 35a with a continental gas engine to see if we can get it to fire up and play with it!

    • @@weldingandwheeling9883 i have in mine Perkins 4-236, but defetly other bellhousing for the turbine. They were installed those engine for the Swedish ( and European markets)

  • Would I ever love to have that loader at my place! It looks like a f163 flathead continental, I have a Miller welder with one in it! It’ll come back to life just needs a little more run time and a proper fuel pump so you can be at the carb fine tuning it! Hope you can come back and get her running! Lots of life left in that yet

  • The rotor button almost NEVER causes hard starting, just the points. The reason the float shut off never fell in the weeds was it was stuck. Good job men on what you got. Seems like it is just ready to run. Brakes should be easy but not sure.

  • Hola un saludo a ambos por recuperar esa belleza.... Lo primero que haría sería sacar las bujías y hecharle aceite en cada uno de los cilindros para lubricarlos y despegar en el caso que estuvieran, mover el motor desde el cigueñal, limpiar las bujías, limpiar el distribuidor, verificar si hay chispa, limpiar el carburador y no es necesario la bomba de combustible solamente dejando el depósito de combustible encima que por gravedad llega al carburador; sacando el caño de entrada de aire y inyectando liquido arrancador entiendo que bebería poner en funcionamiento. los felicito por la tarea y en el futuro para que siga esa maquina trabajando es ponerle un motor diesel Detroit y maquina por muchos años mas. Saludos.

  • Never rub on the tip of the float needle with anything less than 200 grit paper and then only with circular twisting motion not rubbing straight in any direction.

  • In between the engine block and carburetor is an inspection cover for the valves. Much easier than pulling the head and they can be freed fairly easily if they are stuck. Hope this helps, would love to see more

    • I've got a 470 Massey Ferguson they are the same identical loaders mine is a 1966 my dad bought 3 of them brand new mine has the 6 cylinder conteniatal motor in it yes holler at me I'm in southern Missouri.

  • That's a continental for sure F226 unless its been changed. I have a freshly rebuilt F209 sitting in my storage van right now. A perkins will fit but I don't think any michigans came with a perkins. The detroit 353 was the diesel engine option for these loaders. The perkins came in the 470 massey loader the same as these with only front steering. You can also fit a cummins 4BT with a SAE3 bell housing in it of probably any engine with an SAE3 pattern if you can find the right flywheel to fit the crank and bolt the fiber gear that is inside that housing that fits over top of the torque convertor gear. 8 bolts in on the perkins ones. bell housing depth is important as well. any question on parts and part numbers reach out.

    • @@weldingandwheeling9883 the Perkins engine is the easy part. Finding the correct bell housing and flywheel to work with that fiber gear that bolts to the Perkins seems you be the hard part to find. What area are you in? If I find one close to you I'll give you a heads up. I have a couple with Perkins and my father has 1 as well and I have one with a ford 300 six adapted into it. I am leaning towards a Cummins to replace the ford six as the Perkins only rev to 2200 RPM and the ford six revs quite a bit more and the extra rpm make it really move in road gear.

  • You should put oil mix in your gas like a 10 to 1 two cycle mix your engine is to dry you;re hurting it n loosing compression It takes about 10 to 30 minutes to spread oil all over like valve guide n distributor Raise crankcase oil til touching crank for pistons n lifters I know a few guys who didn't do this procedure seize in few second or few minutes
