  • You can do any used small car cat, toyota, honda you choose, brakes is like $100, power steering pump is $75 and rack and pinion assembly $125. $500 job exaggerating. Its a hyundai my friend.

  • Morley, i wish you well on the new journey and this video has a nice sentiment (though felt a bit odd to give many of the kajiji people hope to be honest). That said, I do purposefully avoid lifestyle vlogs as i don't feel it's particularly healthy to form these parasocial relationships online. I do really enjoy your substantive, project-based content though. While acknowledging that it may be difficult for you to draw a line as these things are both key to your life, have you considered a second channel for lifestyle stuff and keeping your main focused on tangible projects?

  • Problem is, he is not in Ukraine so technically he can not just cut the cats off. To get a safety in Ontario (required when transfering ownership), depending on the mechanic they may require him to replace the cats so it's safe to drive on a highway (accelerate on an onramp). However if he can find a fellow Ukraine hookup that can issue the safety, all is good. But given the publicity around the video, probably not a good idea.

  • it feels a little underhanded(?) to get folks hopes up (dangling a free car for their stories) to seemingly drum up interest & eyeballs to your 'stunt' (since you had someone in mind to give it to already) ... of course, this is pure conjecture on my part since I don't really know what's going on in Morley's head when you came up with this. > that said, at the very least, it does go to someone who needs it (though I question simply chopping the catalytic converters off ~specially when it's time to renew registrations)... cheers Yurii & hope the Hyundai serves you & your family well!

    • Agree, I dont feel he’s a bad guy but he should have given some more thought before having all those people get their hopes up- Not that they should have given the state of the car. It does feel a bit insensitive to then just give it to his neighbor. May as well have just did that to begin with. Anyway as you said glad it went to someone who needed it. Also seems like the car is worth more like -900 dollars as 2k with 2900 in repairs would make it worth 4900- which it sure aint.

I also really appreciate your transparency as a KZheadr -- it's very interesting to learn more about how much revenue you guys are making from your videos. What if you made the title "I gave away my car, but I'm still making money from it ($84.54 AND COUNTING!)". You current title makes sense AFTER watching the video, but I'm not sure it would've pulled me in if I wasn't already a subscriber :) Good luck on the van build!

  • Check out Canadian law. You might want to let him know it's an $1000 fine to drive without a catalytic converter, so he can't just chop it off.

  • Do you have vehicle inspections in Canada? In the US most states have requirements for catalytic converters. No removing them. It's nice to see Carlos go to someone who is so genuinely grateful.

    • remove like 6 bolts and drop the entire exhaust pipe, cut off the old cats and sell them for more than it costs to buy new aftermarket cats (like $100 usd each) and weld the new ones on. One day worth of trouble and you'd get a free welder from the money you sold the old cats for.

    • Yes there is vehicle inspection, can't remove them. But no requirement for them to be fully operational. Sure the car might be a lil slow, but it still runs.

    • We have to pass a safety inspection here when transferring a car. We no longer do e testing but the cats must be in place during the safety. Depending on the mechanic a check engine light could also fail you but it shouldn't. Acceleration is part of the road test so it depends how bad the cat is. Aftermarket cats are frequently not road legal here but again that depends on the mechanic.

    • @@drizitgaming That's interesting. Here in New Hampshire, US we have to pass a computer scan so resetting the check engine light doesn't work because they will get a "not ready" status for the various systems and until you drive it enough for each system to clear you will fail. And once the system gets to the point where it would clear it might just re-set the check engine light if the problem still exists. In the past I have hear of people just removing the cat, gutting it by pounding everything out of it and then re-attaching it. Then clearing the check engine light. That would get you past a visual inspection. Although your car would be a pollution machine.

    • @scottgriz we used to have the same system here. But as soon as we elected a conservative majority government in ontario they canceled it. It's still a crime to do here but the chances of getting caught are much lower.

  • Dude I know you don’t want to keep doing the same stuff over and over but you should really slap together one last pallet video to pay for the car if you still can. I think the community would agree that we just want to see you make back the money for doing something so nice for someone. Obviously this video is getting mixed feedback but that’s irrelevant. The most important thing is that you’re not losing money before your trip.

  • This video comes off as super shady to me. First you have contest where everybody who entered didnt win. The car is then given to downstairs neighbor who did not even enter contest. Then you cancel contest but still use it as clickbait and encourage people to watch fake contest to make up 2000.00 difference for car. Im sorry I dont like fake videos like this. I hope you dont do more.
