    • @@DreamyWoIf The miniseries had an engine but it was housed inside the body of a Yugo and driven by someone who could never get the car out of first gear. In my humble opinion, the miniseries could have been great if not for some casting choices (the ghosts came off super-cartoonish, Danny was basically cheeks, teeth and a stuffy nose, and Jack and Wendy had little chemistry), the locations dwarfed by Kubrick's movie giving the miniseries a "budget" feel (even though it was the actual hotel King used in his novel) and a director who is not an effective horror movie director (despite his past King filmography). The miniseries could have been cut down to Kubrick's running time and the story would have made an excellent movie. I still hope someone takes on this novel again for the big screen, notes what worked for the film and miniseries, and fashions the best version of the novel yet.
