    • Ok he said at the start of the year Chelsea would finish in the top 4, that’s factually wrong. Boehly took over a team that finished third and won the champions league only 12 months prior, he’s spent a fortune and they’ve finished 12th and they are currently 8th, that’s two of the worst season Chelsea have had in the premier league era. But Simon defends that cos he loves Boehly, he slates managers and players all the time but won’t do it to owners, Danny Murphy pointed out to him they spent far too much money on Fernandez that Liverpool spent only 45 on mcallister plus he has prem experience, Simon scoffed saying he only played 15 games in the premier league not realising it was in fact a 100, the guy hasn’t a clue about football. Not a clue

  • Chelsea basically ripped up their ream and sold almost 20 players in the summer. Almost the same number have come in with a new manager to boot. A lot of the key players in important positions - Nkunku as our main forward, Fofana in central defence, Lavia in midfield have barely had a kick all season because of injuries. We've had at least 8 players out on average every match day, yesterday we had 14 and had to put academy kids on the bench! Chelsea didn't buy weong per say but maybe signed far too many young players at same time with very little experienced hands to guide them besides a large majority of them alao came from other leagues and need adjustment periods. It was always going to take time and a lot of pain and patience.

    • This comment gets raised a lot but without context it's meaningless. Look at the best players in that UCL run. James and Chilwell who are now perpetually injured. Kante and Azpi who's legs went shortly after. Silva who was already in his mid 30's. Rudiger and Christensen who both left on a free due to mismanagement by the previous board. Mount who also suffered injuries and had his head turned. Mendy who's form just fell off a cliff. None of those issues are the current boards fault. Of course they've made mistakes but it's not like they purposefully broke up the CL winning team it was just very much a swan song for a lot of those players for various reasons.

  • Who’s this silly Arsenal fan, saying Chelsea have one of the worst squads in the league, obviously he hasn’t looked at the players in the squad who are out injured for most of the season. Reese James, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell, that’s definitely the first choice back line when fit. Lavia has played 32 minutes, Enzo has been playing with a hernia for 5 months and the best striker at the club, missing nearly all season Christopher Nkunku, who was superb in preseason until Hummels took him out. Gusto didn’t play last night and he’s been a revelation at right back. There’s definitely six starters in that bunch plus some fabulous youngsters out on loan.

  • Chelsea have wasted a lot of money for sure. > £200m on Mudryk, Cucurella, Sterling, Sanchez etc has been a disaster for the team, for the finances, for blocking more talented younger players. But to say overall they've spent £1bn just to be average is harsh. If a team this young can finish 6th or 7th, without James, Fofana, Chilwell, Lavia, Nkunku all season + Enzo playing on painkillers for months with a Hernia + a load of other injuries then the potential short term upside is clear. Add a top striker and LB in the summer and the squad immediately looks like a top 4 challenger.

The players are wanting to be spoon fed. CR is the future captain because he leads by example-he just gets on with it and doesn't need to be told what to do. Some players are inept to think for them selves, that's the problem.

  • It does not matter how you slice it, spending a billion pounds and not make the top 4 is not good enough. We have spent badly, which falls on the owners. Maybe they are geniuses, who will prove us all wrong in a few years, but then again, if you spend enough money, you will eventually solve most problems.

  • Martin is an embarrassment. Tried to go on about Mudrik and Jim had to correct him.

  • People are so quick to forget that this is the same Chelsea before the arsenal match and after, nothing has changed... Except for when they met arsenal who is miles ahead of them they got crushed and Palmer wouldn't have made any difference... Simon is always wrong so whatever he says the opposite happens 😂😂😂😂

  • Why do Talksport continue to employ Keown. You can't just slap a pair of glasses on a turd and think it has anything insightful to say 😂

  • Keown's Arsenal took 5 years to become what they were with similarly young players. Only difference between the two situations is the price Chelsea paid for these players. Give them time.

    • Arsenal have spent £706 million in the last 5 seasons. Not far off from what Chelsea have spent. I’m certain Chelsea will get there within a year or two.
