The move actual (japanese) name is simply "help" that's why a handless pokemon can learn it ! remember folks if something doesn't seems to make sens in pokemon, check the actual name of the move or ability or item or whatever and 99% of the time it is simply explained by the fact that the translation isn't 1-to-1
It's like how the economy suddenly makes a lot more sense if you realise Pokédollars are just Yen in the Japanese version.
I found out that Draco Meteor is called meteor showers in Japanese when i was a kid and didn't understand why it's called that until i learned Japanese enough Meteor Showers in JP is Ryuseigun Ryu is Japanese word for Dragon Funny Japanese people with their funny puns
It's a similar case to Sucker Punch not being considered a punch move because its JP name is is Surprise Attack, and Smelling Salts never having any salts in its animations because it's actually called Resuscitation.
It means help, but it’s also kinda a funny translation, because it uses the kanji for hand (手), so helping hand is actually a great translation.

I'll never understand anybody that calls Exeggcute "uncreative." Slaying dragons with six egg-themed seeds that communicate telepathically and evolve into a psychic coconut tree is a banger concept. Alolan Exeggutor's great too, weird dragons are always the best dragons.

@@Pam234 Dunsparce wasn't created as a joke. It was created as a rare pokemon for collecting purposes. Gotta catch 'em all was still a big hit back in gen 2 and several pokemon were created just for that purpose. The fact its based on the Tsuchinoko is another factor that hints that considering their status. Thats why it wasnt given attention in a while

That kind of a trait is especially difficult when you’re playing people who aren’t at the tip top of the skill bracket, too. Often less good players will do less optimal moves. A really good player can over predict easier against less optimal players.

@@giomarimp1196 i'm pretty sure there are online tournament that assign WC points, that being said i agree he was probably referring to regional level and above, in the end having fun is what matters most, if you don't have fun, why even do it.
It is crazy there's no losers brackets in VGC. Man was 8/0, dropped a single set and the tournament's over. Wild.
Honestly? This is probably one of the biggest reasons we have basically no repeat champions.

These are probably my favorite types of videos besides the bigger theorycrafting stuff like (what if 3 types, what if sound type etc.), they've got buildup, you get a good look at how things work together, it's all super fun and interesting. Thanks for being the world champ entertainer baby.
39:35 Does anyone knows for sure what would happened there? My theory is that the game flags de position of the pkmn switching in, so since now Torkoal is in that position it would just switch Torkoal back in. But who knows!
I tested this in Showdown. I got text that “The switch failed because the chosen pokemon was already in” and Flutter Mane lost its turn. Unless there’s a showdown bug I expect that’s correct.

One thing I love about Wolfe is that he's honest and yet humble, like if he's outplaying his opponent he won't shy away from that fact but if his opponent plays well or Wolfe gets lucky he'll point it out, and it's so obviously genuine when he compliments people, idk it's just refreshing

I'm more of an Alolan Exeggutor fan, but I love that goofy palm tree mon. Fun fact: it's Ishihara's favourite mon and he used to use it to play test Red and Green

REAL. The team doesnt work much anymore cause of the power creep of more recent formats but i still have a sun team based around helping hand torkoal and a focus sash max spatk chlorophyll scovillain saved on showdown cause it was so much fun to use and watch it blow up other teams pre-dlc lol. I wasnt smart enough to ever consider eject button overheat torkoal though so mine was just exclusively EV'd to be bulky running clear smog / helping hand / fire blast / yawn being basically pure support. Worked better than youd think as a dondozo counter tbh

It would be worse. Groudon being legal would mean other ubers would be legal. Even with the harvest ability, I doubt exeggutor would be able to keep up with the raw offense uber mons tend to have.
Pokemon from a pro pov like yours makes my brain hurt. Happy u simplify it. When i play pro levels are something ill never be prepared for. Anticipating your opponents next 3 to 4 moves is elite. But u showing things like what scarf choice and all these other options do really engages me into every video. Youre top tier bro not only at the game but content n story telling
i've tried quite a few times, and after watching your videos for so long, and putting a bit more elbow grease into it, I managed to build a team and start playing pokemon showdown. It's really fun! thanks Wolfey!

Random video idea but you should have all the teams you’ve used in tournaments over the lifecycle of Scarlet/Violet and see how they rank compared to each other. Maybe round robin style battles or even just a side by side on paper comparison with some breakdown.

I gotta say Wolfey, your bond with Exeggutor is pretty damn strong and the fact that you managed to make it work at the World Championships nonetheless is a testament to that. ❤️ I’m likely a complete amateur compared to you when it comes to competitive play, but I got inspired to making my own team for the Gen. 7 Battle Tree years ago after first hearing how you managed to make Exeggutor of all Pokémon an utter success. My team focused around utilizing the Pokemon Kommo-O, which I had grown quite attached to from playthroughs and some online play using it. Watching you coming up with the right teammates for your Exeggutor reminded me very much of the steps I took to make my Kommo-O team absolutely wreck in the Battle Tree. It can’t get a 100+ win streak or anything (at least I haven’t tried to yet), but it’s able to reach Battle 50 in Doubles format and I’m proud enough for it accomplishing that feat.
Gotta say that the miniatures of your last videos in old Pokémon style are great

I just want to say that I dropped pokemon for a few years now, and watching your videos made me play Violet, and it's being so fun. The feeling of discovering the treasures of ruin was something that I didn't felt for so long. Seeing new pokemons, discovering their evolutions and playing the game blind after years of seeing everything before playing was an amazing experience. Thanks Wolfey, for reawakening the love that I always had for this franchise (sorry for the English, not my first language)
