  • I like the way Russia calls its weapons. Here are some examples: The reactive thermobaric artillery "Solntsepek" (Blazing sun) literally burns everything from the sky. The artillery is named after the flowers: "Carnation", "Acacia", "Tulip", "Peony", "Hyacinth". The last two "flowers" fire tactical nuclear projectiles. Russian soldiers nicknamed "Hyacinth" simply "Genocide" because the words in the Russian language differ by a couple of letters. The air defense is named after the rivers: "Tunguska", "Shilka", "Dvina", "Neva", etc. ATM "Baby" and "Chrysanthemum". Manpads "Needle" and "Arrow". Complex for the production of radio interference "Moshkara" (Swarm of insects). Camouflage costumes "Leshii" and "Kikimora". They are named after forest monsters from Russian folklore. Prison handcuffs for escorting up to 5 people, "Bouquet" Meteorological complex "Smile". Thermobaric Warhead "Excitement". Grenade "Foundling". Missile systems "Boar" and "Courier". Rocket projectile "Squirrel" and "Paragraph". Rocket with a chemical warhead "Gentleness" and a cluster warhead "Decoration". Anti-tank grenade "Fly". Homing torpedo "Raccoon". Car "Naughty". Radar "Positive", "Diagnosis", "stewardess". Rubber bullet "Hello". Handcuffs "Tenderness". Stun grenade "Ecstasy". The mobile robotic complex "Grasshopper". Silent automatic grenade launcher complex "Canary". Radio "Shrimp". Medical vehicle for airborne troops "Traumatism". The electronic compatibility complex "Subtitle".   • Why does Russian vehicles have such cool names. I mean, some of them are just random things like "Venegance" "Death" "Whirlwind" but imo they just sound so good in Russian. Also i like how some are called after plant like "clove" and "hyacynth".

  • Technically TOS-1 isn't a rocket artillery. Yes it can fire conventional rockets much like one but it's main point is to shoot thermobaric missiles, technically making it a flamethrower. The missile would disperse fuel at low altitudes at the location it's targeted to explode and then ignite it, exploding and setting everything in vicinity aflame at the same time. If you don't die to explosion or fire, you will die to suffocation or lung rapture as the thing will consume all nearby air during explosion making it partially a vacuum bomb as well. The weapon exists to literally make sure any and all trenches or fortified positions that aren't hermetically sealed be cleared of any enemy human force - period, before the allied troops are to be moved in.

    • Yeah, but they operate separate batteries of AA system. The ground force operates the other. For example the short range Tunguska and Pantsir are operated by ground force. The hypersonic killer S-500 is operated by Aerospace force.

  • Some important pieces are missing, like Tiger and Taifun vehicles, 2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled artillery system (or it's modernized version 2S7M Malka), Pantsir AA system or BM-21 Grad MLRS. Also Buk would deserve to introduce it's modernized versions.

То что ты где то видел, как их везут вагонами не значит, что их везут куда-то на фронт, а возможно для продажи странам третьего мира.   • You actually forgot about ZSU-23-4 "Shilka", armored car "Tiger", armored trucks "Typhoon-U" and "Typhoon-K", airborne self-propelled anti-tank gun 2S5 "Sprut-SD", BMPT "Terminator-2", BMD-2 and BMD-4, 96К6 "Pantsir-C1". BMD machines is very important part of VDV ( Airborne troops) so it`s hard to tell why are you missed those.

    • @algogy Shilka in a modernized version (ZSU-23-4M4 or ZSU-23-4M5) is still used by marines at least. And most of the Russian equipment is outdated, just being modernized. For example, the T-72B3, despite the modernization, is still a weak machine by modern standards, which can be easily destroyed. And it goes most of everything in the RF Armed Forces in general.
