  • I recently got to drive the 2024 X5 50e, and even that thing is wicked quick! The hybrid drivetrain helps it just jump off the line really well. And even from 100-200 it doesn't seem to really fall off at all. This facelift was a big upgrade over the 2022 X5 45e!

    • @@johnnybravo4976 when active or engaged most cars with adaptive cruise control will have a few second delay before moving forward. This leaves a huge gap between cars in traffic. Provides a perfect time to merge in their lane

  • I’d take this over a Cayenne GTS or Turbo. Atleast $40,000 cheaper when comparably equipped, pretty much the same power, looks better from the exterior IMO, and also still has pretty much the same build quality. Dream garage of mine is a 911 Turbo S Cabriolet with an X5 M Competition.. also, this is a MUCH better buy than the XM.

    • I’d tend to agree, you can’t beat it value wise. The 4.0t in the GTS/Turbo is an awesome engine, but i think the M specific S68 might be better. It’s already proven to make close to 900awhp with only a jb4 and some ethanol and wasn’t anywhere near maxing out the stock turbos. The header plumbing makes it sound more exotic as well. I love Porsches, i love the way all of them drive, the insane options list, the tuning and everything. For the money, i’d be more than happy with the X5M. Besides, a $500 jb4 will put it only 200whp away from plaid power

    • playing devil's advocate - XM is not comparable just because of the price alone. the market for XM are rich people who want to be seen for whatever reason. i have yet to see an XM that hasn't been wrapped some crazy bright color or driven like an ape is behind the wheel.

  • Great review guys! Just an FYI for the future, if you ever have any iDrive weirdness, the entire system can be rebooted/restarted by holding the volume button for like 30+ seconds until everything goes blank. That usually fixes any issue I have with iDrive. It also works while driving/the car is on (it gives you a minimal gauge cluster so you still get speedo/tach.

    • @@berzerker4998I was wondering what was up with this old iDrive. My 2024 X5 came with the new iDrive a month ago. Everything looks way better and appears to be much easier, with fewer taps. For example, seat heating is two taps. With the voice assistant and gesture controls I haven't missed the buttons too much. Steep learning curve though!

    • @@TheStraightPipes To be fair, he's not wrong - I work as a Product Genius at a BMW dealership, it's part of my job to know these things, I can't tell you how many times a simple iDrive reboot solves most issues! It's so simple but it fixes I'd say 80-90% of technical/software-related issues customers have.

  • In the 80's before there was a either a Mercedes or BMW dealer in every town, you could only take your car to a shop owned by a 55 y/o German immigrant named Gunther or Zigmund. Shop was always named Black Forest Motors or West German Auto Werks. And when you called to find it what happned to your car they would proceed to shout at you while telling you what was wrong. "DAS BEARINGS ARE KAPUT!!!"

  • Love the X5M, in my experience, you might experience a few technical issues with BMW vehicles but compared to its competitors, you will experience far less if any drivetrain issues in a BMW. I just purchased the main competitor to this model and I only drove it three days and it has been in maintenance for three weeks now. Yes, it is a 2024 that had 10 miles on the clock when I purchased it. SMH!

    • @@rsmith2320 yes, I’ve watched a couple of reviews on it, great car. The Mercedes has air ride as well and rides pretty smooth but maybe a little harder than Audi. The problem with Mercedes is quality. Mine came with a bunch of factory defects and now I’m stuck waiting for them to decide if they will give me a new one. Exhaust was not even connected to the turbos and no catalytic converters installed, also other leaks.

  • Appreciate your affiliation with TuxMats...was not aware of this alternative to BMW or WeatherTec mats....I ordered the TuxMats for our 2023 x3 M40i and love them! Excellent fit, not overly adorned with manufacturer's logos. Only downside...they're only available for vehicles in past 5 models years. 5 Stars othewise! (P.S. Between you and Joe Achilles, you made the x3 M40i decision an easy one! That straight 6 B58 coupled with the ZF transmission is very powerful, smooth and responsive drive train!

  • I had a chance to drive one....they are a rocket...for a family vehicle...but at high speeds the steering is still way way to fast...but .40-132 or a launch ...insane..

  • Yeah an X5MC looks great in colors that stand out but it's best as a sleeper in Alpine White and non-black rims so that you can pull up to a stop light and blow the doors of some kid in his Dodge Charger. I had an AMG Wagon way back like that and it was so much fun to leave a Vette in your mirror.
