152 559 Рет қаралды

This video shows all phases of a transatlantic flight from Iceland (BIRK) to Greenland (BGSF), ATC clearance, checklist procedures, position reports in the North Atlantic Airspace and a landing at Sondrestromfjord (BGSF).
ATC is recorded and procedures in the cockpit are explained with subtitles, photos and charts.
Special thanks go to my trusted friend and Co Pilot Capt. Amir Alam.

  • Thank you for the new video. My young daughter loves to watch them and now I can show her places that I worked on my ham radio as you fly into them. Also pass on the nice landing to Capt. Alam. Like you have said in the past the only thing that will be remembered on a great flight is a poor landing. Here is to more "happy landings" in 2015. Brian

    • Thank you Brian. My KZhead statistics show that 96% of my viewers are males and only 4% are females. The fact that your young daughter likes the videos is a start... I will pass on you message to Capt. Amir regarding the landing. It was very well done. Happy Landigns, Guido

  • As an aspiring pilot with a whopping 9.2 hours in a 172, this video is incredible. The thoroughness of the system close ups and even the taxi line tracking offers more educational support than most any other "in cockpit" video I've ever seen. Thank you and kudos.

  • Guido, love the professionalism and proper procedures. I show some of your videos to my instrument ground class from time to time as examples of how to do IFR correctly. The additions of informative text throughout is appreciated too as my students can following along without me talking over the video and distracting them from the action. Thanks for sharing these flights. -MH

    • Guido Warnecke Well, we all now that, generally, comms are usually a difficult thing to get use to and the skill of "listening quickly" needs to be developed. I have shown some of your videos more for the precise way in which procedures are followed and to give a good overview of the process of an IFR flight. The video I most recently showed my class was from this particular trip, but I believe it was your final leg, the video from KBGR to KDXR. I am currently an unemployed pilot with mostly Citation CJ experience, although not typed, yet. I have found that due to my somewhat unique situation (long story), that aviation education seems to be where I am to spend my days; certainly an honorable profession but I'd rather get back to corporate flying. :) Who wouldn't, right! Again, great videos and it seems clear, being a part of a crew with you would be great duty. -Mike

    • excellent video Guido,just a question,what does six lights mean when you use reverse thrust?

      @gazzathomas1423@gazzathomas14239 жыл бұрын
    • Garry Mulholland Hi Garry, For every engine there is a stack of three lights to show the status of the thrust reversers: First light: ARMED - system is armed, hydraulic pressure applied Second light: UNLOCK - reverser is unlocked, a mechanical lock is removed Third light: DEPLOY - reversers are deployed When the reverser is deployed all the three lights illuminate. Three lights and two engines make "six lights". It is a call to verify that both reverses have deployed after landing and that the normal wheel brakes only to be used in moderation. Happy landings, Guido

I love the fact that you not only critique your fellow crewmember in the cockpit, but you can also recognize when you, in the left seat, make an error or become distracted, etc. Such humility, for the purposes of instructing younger (and even older) pilots, is remarkable. • Guido, Your videos are exceptional in every way! They are deeply informative, superbly detailed with clear graphics and in-video diagrams, plus they are instructional in the extreme as I learn more from your productions than from many other commercial cockpit DVD's. The film quality is very good, ATC radio and pilot speech are both clear, and this video has some fabulous lighting too. I just wanted to make sure you know how appreciated they are. I am always impressed by the utterly calm and controlled nature of your flying and mentoring, and by the procedural, disciplined excellence by which you fly. I think I'll stick to my lapsed PPL and flight simulator, as at least I have as pause button whereas you don't! Keep those videos flowing, please! Best wishes, Fabio

    • Guido Warnecke Would you say it's a good practice to fly a variety of aircraft this early on if possible? It's been all 172 up to this point (both with analog and G1000 instruments) but I'm sure I could find some other planes to put in my logbook. My old flight school in CYXH got a hold of a C210 but I'm not sure if I can justify the cost of training on it.

      @zak7576@zak75769 жыл бұрын
    • Stay on that 172 for now and get you training behind you. Multi Engine is on these trainers PA44 and the likes anyhow. The real flying starts after that. Happy Landing, Guido

  • Such an amazing and informative channel and I discovered it by chance. You reply to every comment and there are many, that is so rare. I love how you take us through all the procedures using text, that takes time. I used to be an avid flight simmer, but don't have the time these days, flying for real is the best feeling, maybe one day I will get that license. So glad I found your channel and will view more of its content. Happy New Year and Happy Landings.

    • +Guido Warnecke I've had a few, Cessna 172, Katana Diamond, then had an interest in helicopters, Robinson R22. I noticed that you were not a pilot from the off, but came from a mining background, such an amazing career change, also noticed that you have done a lot of bush flying in Africa, did that help get you employment with a major carrier?

      @irishrover63@irishrover638 жыл бұрын
    • I have never worked for any major air carrier. Only for / or with small air charter companies. It is a difficult industry to get in. In the airlines, your progress is only by seniority, meaning you will NOT upgrade to captain until another captain has retired and there is no other co pilot who entered the company before you is also captain. This can take 12-15 years in some airlines. Happy Landings, Guido
