  • I'm so happy to find a tutorial using virtually an entire book. I cannot bring myself to cut ALL of the signatures out of a wonderful old book. Thank you, LorriMarie!

    @geneamom@geneamom6 жыл бұрын
    • oh BAG....you have to cut the signatures out...lol! you will have one chunky book if you don't....but you can use those pages in other pieces of art....right? i love creating these books....so glad you are coming along! see you on the table!

      @lorrimarie2002@lorrimarie20026 жыл бұрын
    • But you tear part of the pages out of each signature, not the entire signature!!! At least that's what I thought you did! So you didn't have to make entirely new signatures and stitch them in, right?

    • Okay, I’m totally guilty of watching your altered book videos ALL day!! When you would encourage us to go play, and have fun, I just couldn’t get enough! You’ve convinced me to get a Stabilo pencil from Amazon,but haven’t seen your affiliate link! I know some of the videos you didn’t have quite enough subscribers, but you do now. I also wondered about the black masking tape, because you should definitely get credit for my ordering that! It’s in my cart on Amazon, I’m not sure if it was your link or one of your subscribers. So, I have thought of a question. You didn’t “thin” out your pages, besides gluing and reinforcing some of them together. I’ve watch other altered book artists Nd they have. What is your thinking on this?

I agree that older books have yummier pages. Funny you have a Nancy Drew book. I collect Trixie Beldon books just because I liked them so much as a child. Many ppl only know of Nancy Drew but as a child I liked the Trixie Beldon series much better. So I have a few of those that would be suitable for altering. I can probably always pick up another one. • I have an older sewn book in fantastic shape that I started doing art in before I found this video. It's a smallish book of 127 pages and only 4 signatures. Unfortunately the 3rd pages from the middle of the signatures of the first 2 signatures already has artwork, so I don't want to remove them. Is it possible to remove any other pages from those signatures, and if so, how do I choose? Luckily it's not getting very thick because it's mostly ink and pastel with a little washi tape and a bit of napkins. I am really enjoying your altered book series. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

I knew it was important to remove the matching pages, but I thought maybe your choice of the third pages had something to do with the structure and stability of the book. I didn't want to start removing pages without asking the expert, in case I hurt my lovely book. My book is from 1964 and is in perfect condition except for a liitle discoloration on the end pages and some very slight wear on the cover. It even has a large beautiful monogram on the cover. • About to ask something stupid but do you mean you literally sat down on the book to get it to flatten after you modpodged at around 11:38? At first I thought you meant sit on it as in wait for it to stay glued together... told you it was a stupid question! But I'm serious...

    @diannew6066@diannew60665 жыл бұрын
    • that is not a stupid question! i create 'bum' art when i can...i sit on the books to flatten them until they get too chunky for me to sit on...lol! so yep...i am serious too...lol....thank you D for asking...i am quite sure that other people have had that question too!!! lol...see you on the table D.

    • @@lorrimarie2002 I like your art. Maybe you could have saved it from the landfill? How could you paint over those great illustrations in the book? Is there a line between desecration and art? You say in your video the book is in good condition. You are actually encouraging people to find antiquarian books and destroy them! What if it's a first edition Hemingway? Or a rare edition of an author? Hideous.

      @ArtandAlchemy@ArtandAlchemy3 жыл бұрын
    • First edition Nancy Drew books are worth up to 6000.00. You actually are telling people not to check the edition. You are encouraging people to look specifically for antiquarian books to destroy. I took the time to respond because you are trashing history. These books are valuable and collectible It's not about your art. Destroying history is not art. Educate yourself.
