I’m totally and completely against the EU’s decision on the photo app. This is going way too far.
People need to see the nuance in this. I mostly just see "but they got apple to use usb-c, hooray" and I wanted usb-c as well, but we can't take the good with the bad. Lots of bad stuff possibly happening.

This is a terrible case of Abuse of Power, we can literally see the EU is now just targeting Apple, not these other companies who commit multiple suspicious acts
@@bruceinmyheart That's exactly it. It's not like the EU will delete an app. EU wants users to have a choice of choosing another app and in that process let the user delete a redundant app. I see nothing wrong with that.

Photos isn’t just ‘an app’ it’s a system component integrated with the camera, if they make it deletable that would have large implications on how the camera app works, and it’s not like apple were stop people from using other photo applications in the first place

@@jasona.2044 It's system level because Apple have designed it that way. It's not beyond their technical expertise to uncouple it if they needed to. Just look at sideloading. Apple invested a huge amount of effort to prevent any installation of apps from outside the App Store, and now it's possible. Clearly these "system level" features and applications can be changed because the OS itself can be changed.

Sure, now we're going crazy but then we gave you USB-C we were the good guys. EU is just against monopolies. That's just about giving people choices. What's wrong with letting people have a choice which apps they want to remove from their phones. If people like the stability of an iPhone combined with Google Photos because hey already have their photo library there or they like certain features like magic erase or something, let them have the choice of removing a redundant app for their use case.

You don't have to--all this means is that you'll have the option to if you want.
More customization is indeed needed, everything is stable enough for me (I’m not a gamer but power user for work and photography)

Thanks for the updates. I am also against the EU’s overreach. Any news on the next gen AppleTV? I know it was rumored to be released in the first half of the year but it has been crickets regarding any news.
One would think the EU would have bigger issues to remedy than worry about photo apps on an iPhone.
When Apple isn’t complying with the law, then of course there will be repercussions.
Yes the EU had to choose between "Apple's Photos app" and "all other domestic issues" because it's impossible for them to do more than one thing at a time.

AI will almost certainly not support anything older than A14/M1 chips, and definitely not Intel Macs.
I have a shortcut that just runs ChatGTP if I say “Siri, I have a question” or “Siri, let’s talk”. Great for when I’m driving and a question pops into my head or if I want to have a conversation with an AI to keep me awake.
You can also change your password Manager so what’s the problem?
this has been a bug since i got airpods max but when u squeeze both ears of airpods on ur ears it disconnects and i have to take my airpod max off and put it back on

EU is over reaching on the photo album access. They clearly don’t understand how it works. I would stray away from purchasing the high end model or using my phones camera at all if Apple could no longer secure access to it.

Being from Ireland, a country within in EU, I think that the EU have definitely gone too far this time. I hope Apple blocks their decision for EU Apple users to remove the photos app cause it's essential to have on an iPhone. It's ridiculous really
They aren't expecting Apple to remove the photos app. They're expecting Apple to allow users to remove it if they so choose.

Fair point a lot of applications can't be uninstalled in Android. But because of the nature of Android, you can at least choose a default applications.

Ios 16 vs 17 camera setting is different ( view outside frame ) in 17 you still get the photo inside the frame but 16 takes entire screen photo

@@techwithtyler20 for me as a resident of the UK I received the update with the EU rules on the update page and the iOS version and therefore since others outside of the EU did not receive them it leads me to believe that I infact did have the EU update

Anything announced at WWDC will come to at least the 15.
Is the new disabling of airtags going to allow anyone near airtag to disable it? I’m just curious. I don’t want anyone being tracked. But I have them in backpack, keys, car, luggage. What would prevent a thief from just disabling tracking?

Great video Brandon! I use siri several times every day. If there is an actual improvement and not just something minor for siri in ios 18, I will be very much pleased. Frequently not getting the answer to a question or Siri saying "I found this on the web.", making you do the work is most annoying. At least commands work fine (at least for me).

i definitly do not want an unstable IOS for some customisation.. i dont get why it is so important for some people to have more cusomisation..if that means your phone i laggy instead of good flowing.
as an AirPods Max user i noticed that after the update there’s a jacuzzi water effect you can apply to whatever you’re listening too🔥🎉to unlock it you have to wear the AirPods for 30mins and it’ll automatically apply 😊 the sound effect is named ‘condensation’. i hope they add it as a notification sound too🔥😤makes your ears feel like they’re actually in water🌊
I am so thankful that ios 18 is supported on my old iPhone xs with the a12 chip and it probably won't get the new ai features I hope I get a new phone
I expected this year to be a "same devices supported year" after dropping devices 2 years in a row. This will be the first time, however, that this IS NOT the case with the iPads, although these iPads were supposed to be dropped last year if they were just one year older. Apple appears to now support devices for no less than 6 years before dropping them. 3GB RAM is likely the minimum now--that allows the iPad 7's A10 to still be supported.
Please tell me you people also face bugs with the "Files" app.

I want stability
If Apple has to restructure its operating systems to support using 3rd-party photo apps as the default, it’s likely to introduce bugs and other issues (even for non-EU users as it’s all the same OS just with region-locked features). We haven’t had a “stable” release since before 2013 and I don’t think we’ll have one anytime soon.
How did you get that Parallax effect on the Home Screen, my icons dont move at all when i move my phone...
It's more subtle than iOS 7-15 as now the icons themselves move subtly instead of the wallpaper moving.

Arc is such a deep breath of fresh air.
It’s absurd for the EU to make Apple make the photos app one that you can delete. Apple is not a hardware company, they are a product company. They should sell iPhones without cameras in the EU if they are forced to do this.
By that logic, Apple should have disabled the NFC hardware on their phones instead of allowing users to delete the Wallet app. Or maybe remove the GPS hardware instead of allowing users to delete their Maps app. All of Apple's apps contribute to the "product" of the iPhone, but that doesn't mean they have to be there whether users want them there or not.

Every time I try to connect them as default speakers for the Apple TV, I receive an error message stating 'Unable to connect to HomePod. You can switch to your TV speakers in settings.' I've already reset my iPhone, my Apple TV, both my HomePods, and even my Wi-Fi network. Additionally, the HomePods, Apple TV, and my iPhone are all connected to my Wi-Fi on the 5 GHz band, and they're all in the same room on the Apple Home app. Despite all this, the problem persists. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe an option to “disable” Apple’s Photos app would be fine, but not uninstall it from the device fully.
What would you gain when you disable the photo app? Why not just remove it from the desktop? What would you possibly game in the process of disabling it. How is it different from? Removing it from the desktop. You are the kind of person who doesn’t understand what is going on here. The European Union is going down the road that Russia went. But they’re doing it faster. They are eroding peoples privacy, and the right Apple has to prevent certain things from happening in the first place. The instant people have access to system level, that exposes everything from credit card to peoples private information, such as where they are going in their GPS. Once that is exposed, it’s not just the fact that third parties can get malicious with that information, but it’s also that the European Union will now be able to police people on a personal level that they can’t currently do. That’s why Apple doesn’t allow system level. Because they know a malicious government can get in and manipulate people by force. Something that Russia is already doing, Iran is already doing, and hungry definitely wants to do. I can’t believe you’re OK with going down this route. I can’t believe you are blind to what is going on in Europe. Europe is slowly losing its democracy. The government is reaching too far. Anytime a government passes laws just to manipulate a business, that shows the government is going to far, and these rules were only brought up to manipulate Apple and other businesses that follow along in the steps of privacy. That’s the only reason these rules were brought up. They don’t benefit anyone. They only open doors for malicious intent.
I don't mind getting updates in a single videos. That's what the chapters are for so I can skip and jump the part that I wanna watch. Separating the information in different videos would then be a hassle coz there might be times where I might miss the the other video. So yeah plz keep a single video and just like now include chapters! They are great! You videoa and Chapters too!!
I have the 2018 iPad Pro second generation and it runs games like PUBG like a champ. can I still expect security updates for at least another year then?
2nd-generation 12.9 is 2017. If you have the 2018, the 3rd-generation, it will get iPadOS 18.

This was Microsoft’s exact argument for IE on Windows, that it couldn’t be separated from the OS and was a system level application. The Government made them change that.
And nothing changed--it's still hiding in Windows 11 2024 Update and can be accessed via Internet Options in Control Panel or Microsoft Edge.

Why would I want to use any other photos app, if I was an android user I wouldn’t download another photos app, tell them to tell Samsung to stop putting bloatware and taking up storage we pay for. Like how they ain’t going after android as much…. They must all be green bubble users who think people with iPhone want to show off with money, when how much do flip phones cost that they are all jumping on now!

Is iOS 18 beta coming in June for developers is it coming in 1 month and a half
June 10 for developer beta 1, public beta in late June or early July. It's really just about the speed of betas now, as you can simply sign up for a developer account to get the developer beta. You no longer have to pay for the full developer membership.
