One thing I like how ur test is that u don’t use ur hand to do the battery 🪫 test the machine do it which is accurate.
So glad you include standby off times.
Samsung has no chance in standby. I left my 3 year old iphone over night vs a completly new samsung. I did all the same "background refresh" stuff on my samsung. It does lose a lot of battery over night. Iphone, maybe, loses 1%. Same goes for the ipads. My 2 year old ipad doesn't lose more than 1 over night.
But who leaves their phone for 16h ?? Unrealistic
@@iAmNothingnessTry not a "completely new" Samsung. Instead, give it some days to settle things, etc. Or turn off the bunch of bloatware first :D
@@Smurphy3136doesn't matter, it will not compete with the iPhone during standby

@@deezpleez3832 Exactly! I use Samsung, my friends use Apple, one friend uses Apple and wants to go to Samsung, it really doesn't matter who you go with tbh, at that point, it should be about which features you prefer.
Apple separates themselves from the competition by optimizing software with the hardware which is why they are able to get away with a smaller battery and lack of hardware. It may seem like a small difference but considering Apple is able to achieve this is a much bigger milestone than most think.
Identical? It's 2 different generstions.. or if Samsung didn't chikened out, and this phone still called to Note 24, and release with the iPhone 16 about 7 monts later, you also only compare it with the already one year old iPhone 15..?

It would be amazing to see if you can combine the Battery, Camera AND Speed test in 1 video, would make an interesting video to watch.
Please do a OnePlus 12 vs Galaxy S24 Ultra test next.
Find it most interesting that in this test on S24 Ultra he keeps it at the default 3-button navigation mode but on the speed test, manually changes it to gestures which we all know affects the time. Inconsistent
Because that’s a Speedtest for speed matters having those buttons at the bottom isn’t affecting your battery in any meaningful way
Exactly what the guy said. If speed matters then the buttons should remain! Instead of swipe gestures.
If speed matter, then disable animations
@@spartanshadow13he matches both phones to have gesture navigations. By that logic he should be disabling all animations and going into developer mode and making more tweaks
@@flavioa6351By changing default navigation from 3-button for speed test to gestures the results are skewed. No customization should be done, just test the phone at their default values other than volume and phone brightness being matched. Speed test would have had a different result with default navigation. No consistency in test
The s24u just came out and with no recent updates yet and it might not have learned your usage patterns yet. The iphone has been out for a while and has gotten stable with updates and also learned yoir usage pattern. Try this test again in few months when the s24u has been properly updated and optimised to fit your usage patterns.
yall should do a test to see what phone can go the longest on min settings and what goes the longest on highest of high settings
Worth noting that samsung sells phones with 6000mah batteries which aren’t flagships and they even used to sell a couple of models with a 7000mah capacity 3 years ago
They have been "playing it safe" with batteries on their flagships, ever since the Note 7 fiasco. The ultra could realistically fit a 6500 MaH battery no problem, but Samsung doesn't want to take any risks.
@@jackwilson5542 right but i guess that any phone must have a safe mah capacity regardless if it’s a flagship or a midrange phone. They can’t be putting budget phone owners at risk lol
Awesome to see competition in this category. What really surprised me is the iPhone losing in standby. iOS used to be known for its standby efficiency but it seems to have lost that over time, perhaps the findmy network is part of the issue as some have reported standby drain related to that. Whatever it is it’s interesting to say the least.
Great review!
Great video as always, but I would like to see a graph like in the video with S23U and 14PM
The test we’ve all been waiting for! And hey, a winner’s a winner, and I have my favorite (Apple ofc) but let’s be honest here. Either of these numbers, is FREAKING INCREDIBLE. Same as the performance. You’ll be happy with either, comes down to personal preference! Win for the consumers indeed
The iphone didn't win buddy look at all the other tests of the same 2 phones, the s24u won. Phonebuffs battery and speed tests are clearly rigged
2 minutes over 1663 minutes is not a "win". It's casual. If they repeat the test once more, maybe next time samsung will win. They are equal, in every possible way. No difference. It's called margin of error
really happy to see S24U matched iP15PM in this test. it would be fun if S24U win but it still a big W for consument afterall
S24U wins by a margin when it comes to charging so long battery plus 1 hour charging is the 1-2 punch

I've been an iPhone user since 2010 and now i switched to the S24 ultra for the first time using Android device and man what a beast ! Loved the display and the amount of customization i can do with it !! And I NOTICED the fingerprint sensor is MORE practical than the face ID, i can unlock the phone without having to look at it every time i wanna use the phone 😅 .
what was the screen resolution of the Samsung when the test was carried out?
Loved your conclusion to the video, it's a win for consumers.
Lets go phonebuff true test has arrived!
Can you turn on light performance mode on the S24 Ultra and redo the test? Light performance mode has no impact on your usage at all (like energy saving mode would), just throttles the CPU max clockspeed down a little, which also won't apply for games.
This is not about adjusting the parameters until Samsung wins, it is simply about seeing the behavior of both phones on a day-to-day basis.
@@gustavoroses268 While I get your point, this option does exist for Samsung and Apple doesn't have it. It also has zero impact on the phone. It doesn't dimm the screen, 120hz still works, everything is 1:1 the same as before. Nobody will notice if it's on or not. I'd even argue that if somebody doesn't use that setting, they just want to drain their battery faster on purpose, because nobody needs this CPU power for daily social media usage or watching videos. Samsung should have that on by default tbh. Letting the Samsung win would be turning the resolution down to FHD+, maybe making the screen a little bit less bright to a point where nobody would notice it, etc.
@freesS3 that option does not exist on iOS because the iPhone simply does not need to limit its power to have better battery performance. In the same way that macbooks do not lose performance when they are disconnected from the power supply as practically all other computers on the market do. I know it sounds fanboyish but it's true, I put effort into making the phone as simple as possible for the user and that's fine, you have a cup of soda that you can't modify but that always works well, You have a very powerful performance that you do not need to disable because you will always have good battery performance as well.
@@gustavoroses268iphone can't do basic things. Why would it requires a bigger battery!.
@@gustavoroses268I agree macbooks are beasts.
WOW! I did not expect this tbh
It would have been nice if you posted about the settings configuration for S24U.😊
Navigation buttons should be used for the speed test also. That's how it comes out of the box.
I keep seeing this but I still have to swipe up for the navigation bar in games on mine.
If you set the S24 Ultra Gesture swipe to 1 swipe and turn on developer mode the S24 Ultra can go even faster🔥🔥🔥
This was more intense to watch than the Super Bowl overtime
Interesting how you keep the default button layout on Samsung for the battery test, but conveniently change to the double swipe layout on speed tests
Curious how the two compare without matched brightness and audio levels. For example, auto brightness on and 50% volume despite their differences. Because they each handle brightness and sound differently in "real world " usage
a 2 min phone call can save your life ... clear win for iPhone
The Samsung has ultra power save mode which basically turn it into a dumb phone with limited functionality and greatly extends battery life. You can make more than 5 minutes call with 1% left in that mode.
If you want to make an emergency call
the s24 ultra has a bigger screen, higher resolution, and higher peak brightness, even then it still had more battery than the iphone, but this is an extreme case, in a normal use case scenario, that bigger battery leads to the phone lasting wayyy longer, not to mention the super save mode its got
@@panzerkampfwagen161i said that but i prefere android 😂
@@pr1sma826yeah i agree ! Android is the king of smartphone i just want A17 on s24 ultra then its perfect
@phonebuff So why does everything on the Samsung HAVE to be calibrated to be the same on the Samsung to the iPhone EXCEPT display??
exactly, guess they didn't want iPhone to lose
can we do this for every iphone, pixel, and samsung device at each price level? like budget A series samsung vs pixel a series, vs iphone se. regular iphone 15, vs regular s24, vs regular pixel, and of course their pro versions and maybe even flip versions, sooo much content to make with all these phones! and super useful info for prospective buyers. there are literally 1000s of people making a decision based on your results. keep up the good work!
