  • i wish the sims would actually release packs that work on launch. their dlc is expensive and im tired of pretty much just paying for my game to break, especially when the idea of the packs themselves seem so cool :/

    • It’s always really disappointing because they clearly put time and thought into building all these concepts. The biggest issue is that EA cut the number of play testers significantly a few years ago and they just laid off like 600 employees. Each expansion pack only has like 3 or 4 play testers so there’s no way they can find all the bugs that exist before releasing it.

    • Hm, except it's not. If you put crystals on and off, your sims body gets thinner. The more they wear and take off, the thinner they get (especially teens). The rest of the save issues and the like might be the base game only update (I'm not playing at all right now), but this one is specifically the pack.

  • I recommend putting your sim's crystal charger on their balcony because if you have kleptomaniacs in the neighborhood they will get stolen. And moving it to an inaccessible location (roof) temporarily if throwing a party of any kind in your sims home. My starter test sim had a cut gemstone stolen by a member of the welcome wagon. Sadly, so many of my famous sim's cut gemstones and jewelry have been stolen right of the charger grid by paparazzi. And especially if you have a butler, they've got super sticky fingers for jewelry and art.😂

  • The cut crystals are decorative cristals, seperate from the jewelry. You can charge them and for example put a skill boosting one on a shelf near a skill item

    • The cut ones are honestly way better. The increase fun one just fills your fun bar whenever you walk by it. And the AOE is really big.

  • I’m not sure if you know or have heard, but there are some new game breaking bugs. These bugs came about after the update for the newest pack. As a precaution you may want to have a back up save. People have been recommending not playing with legacy or important game saves. Just wanted you to know in case you haven’t heard.

    • @@JamesTurnerYT there's quite a few, but I'll list the main ones that can crash or effect your game the worst. 1. Sims loose their moodlets after saving and closing the game. The next time you go back in game the moodlets are gone, which effects challenges, quests, etc. 2. There's another build/buy issue that causes the game to crash. Happened to me yesterday three times. 3. Teenage Sims bodies are becoming morphed. I can't remember all of them, but those are the ones that stuck with me.

  • I did a rags to riches with jewelry making for my new generation that I started. My sim was LOADED within a sim week because the jewelry sells for so much. I'm glad that everything works well for you and great video. I missed this series!

  • There's a bug with BBB that makes the Crystal Grid not function correctly - the info text when hovering over it won't show what's being charged and how long is left etc. Just to let you know, that's why you're having trouble figuring that part out. It might have been updated when you read this Also, don't put crafted jewelry on/remove it too many times or your Sims will have their physics and genes distorted - fun time, to be a Sims player, eh? xD

    • What do you mean physics and genes distorted? Only thing I’ve noticed is my Sim’s fingers looking like they’ve broken for a moment after they put a ring on.

    • @@laura.b.1989I guess YT didn't like that I put a link in the answer I wrote for you, so I'll try again :) The physics of your Sim changing is most noticeable in teenagers. Their face and body sort of shrink and become thinner and thinner for each time you put on/remove the crafted jewellery. This distorted look is 'genetic' meaning it's what gets passed down if they eventually have kids of their own. Sadly, fixing your Sim in CAS won't help on the genetics and their kids will inherit the distorted look There's a thread on the EA bugs forum about the matter, but I don't think I can link it for you without YT freaking out and deleting my message again

  • Hey James, you should be able to tell how long an item will take on the charge grid and also how long that charge will remain when it’s in your inventory. I wasn’t able to see that either, just like you until I removed Better BuildBuy. Also, I’m so happy Rent to Riches is BACK!!!!

    • That's usually my thought--mods aren't updated. I have every pack, does that create issues? They usually only use the current pack with base game. Is that how each pack is intended to be used?

  • I'm sure someone else has done this, but I just spent some time checking what jewelry stacks and worked out that you can wear up to 9 pieces of jewelry at once: one necklace, one set of earrings, 2 bracelets (One on each wrist), and 5 rings.   • Hmm, 44:00 - if I counted correctly, you should get 19,502 after taxes AND the pop up says that some of the tenants could be overdue - perhaps we should check it and calculate if the sims can count correctly or still nah? :) cheers!

    • I got the same numbers when counting in the tax so agreed, the difference could be that some tenants haven’t paid yet. Although as someone else pointed out in another comment, when the grace period was active, James raised the rent part way through the week so the total would have to be calculated differently to account for the two different rent amounts.

  • Oh my god, the amount of work to resurrect this lets play!!! You have the oarient of a saint James. So yeah, I too had to basically delete a bunch of buildings I created at the launch of For Rent, some of it was recoverable from gallery backups, some weren’t. Didn’t have to disable the pack, but everything I have built since then is fine. But with these new patch bugs, I don’t even want to open the game. BUT I will sit in for a James Turner lets play before work. Tho I won’t be buying any packs from EA any time soon. Especially with that eyesore of a cart icon still there.

    • I haven't opened my game since all the patches last week. I really want the crystal pack, but I'm not going to buy it until I know my game won't break. Also, I'm not happy with the shopping cart that's been added to the in-game menu. Twisted Mexi has a mod to remove it, but still, it's frustrating. Glad to be able to watch James play, though.

    • @@JuliHoffman Simmatically also has a cart removal mod. It just removes the cart where as I believe TwistedMexi’s was imbedded into BetterBuildBuy, which I took out because it lagged my personal game way too much on top of EA lag. Simmatically’s is simpler, all it does is remove the cart. That being said, I like the cart being there because it reminds me NOT to buy anything from EA (not even just Sims, ANYTHING) until they do better.

  • OMG just hearing James explain all the things he needed to do to get this save to play really makes me thank my stars I didn't invest into Sims 4 coming after buying all the expansions for Sims 3. I really hope EA is able to address this and might just be time for a new one, if Paralives doesn't beat them to it. Just like City Skylines pretty much ended the conversation for the latest Sim City.

  • i was despairing the lack of search bar; glad to see you do have it! been a lifesaver for me! doing maintenance isnt the only way to raise the rating on your apartments; participating in events and i think being social with your tenants also helps i believe panya li is the default property owner for any rentals that dont already have an owner. so if you plop down a rental without also assigning a sim as the owner, he automatically becomes the owner. gleena was asking if she should know nina as a friend rofl could the rent you collect be based on what it was set to at the beginning of the rental period? so maybe the next week you play it will reflect the updated numbers? im glad to see you play this again!

  • The inspection and maintenance doesn't seem to affect the maintenance score much but doing some upgrades and always completing the events keeps it at amazing for all my buildings. Tenants will move out and start revolts all the time even if you have 5 stars and amazing maintenance, after playing a few generations I don't think having a lower quality apartment actually makes them more likely to happen... I always mail the book since the curse you get from destroying it gets glitched sometimes :/ I actually don't regret buying this pack but I wish a bit more thought had been put into events so they don't spawn on lots where you can't solve them... not to mention all the bugs

  • I can't even fathom the length of time you spent on intricately working through everything to do your best to fix your save and I have no idea how you were able to acquire such patience with yourself and with the game to do that but it makes me proud because it certainly takes a lot and I'm glad that you did it because now the game is more fun for you and for us so thank you so so much and I aspire to have your patience levels honestly ✨✨✨

  • The rent you got was based on the original rent, the grace period doesn't actually reset until the next payout week

  • If you need to farm for crystals, I also suggest joining the scientist career. When you travel to the lot there are a whole bunch of gems and metals that respawn really fast and you can ask your coworkers for them.

  • I really think what you should do for for rent, if it doesn't work: sell all the buildings you own and just buy the bigwallet emporium, because that would be interesting to see six apartments on. maybe laird can live there or in the house she's now living in or just in a normal rental. and then focus on the crystals. :)

  • Not a fan of supernatural packs so I don't care about crystal creations at all, I just really wish Wish that For Rent was Not broken. I Loved the past episodes you made about Renting, buying houses, crafting furniture, dating, befriending rich people, stealing mom's stuff and selling food. That was really fun times😢

  • I watched EnglishSimmer's video and apparently there are new glitches regarding Emotion buffs disappearing if you save and come back. She tested it and didn't have any issues with pregnancy vanishing but be careful. Also putting on and taking off Jewelry can drastically change your Sim's appearance because it starts randomizing sliders for some reason. Just a heads up.
