  • Took out my toilet and found a 50 year old flange that was part of the down pipe. Plumber gave estimate of $1,200 'cuz it had to be cut from the condo below, pulled up and replaced. Saw this video and one other used two wax rings. So that's what I did to solve the problem and give me peace of mind. THANKS!

  • DOUBLE WAX RING FOR THE WIN!!! Our flange sits lower than the floor in the house we just bought (didn't notice the toilet was leaking on to the concrete subfloor until after we moved in). Your idea to stack the rings was genius! I put a standard ring over an XL flange ring and have flushed a couple dozen times now with no leaks. Also agree with not calking the toilet. Thanks much, your video was very helpful❤

I'm a mechanic and a machinist in a farmer and not a plumber just because my pants hanging down it doesn't make me a plumber. One of the little kids must have flush something cuz it is plug so tight I can't even get a snake is caught in the trap of the toilet somewhere and I can't get it to come out or move I can plunge it and it'll blow bit of water will finally eventually go down but it takes forever and there's something plugging it tight I don't know what it is I'm going to take a sledgehammer to the toilet when I get it outside just bought a new one from Menards or here on tall tall elongated bowl I had doubled up receipts input to input a two-seat high took a switch them and screw them together and head to toilet lids on it or two toilet seats and one lead it works looks stupid but it work for making the toilet tallerI would just buy two brand new toilet seats and take the but we'll take both out of the packages take the top wooden lid off 11 of them in and drill holes and screw it to the bottom of the other sheet then cut off part of the hinge the mounting bracket on the top one and mount it with the bottom one it was all screwed together so both both of the lids are both seats with lift up like normal and had one lit on the top that closed there's a way to make the toilet toilet toilet taller when it was too short it's in a trailer house and what not much you can do there made with cheap material . So I got a new toilet from Menards or a hundred fifteen bucks. It's a tall elongated Tuscany Huron I hope that it works good 👍

    @businessraptor127@businessraptor127 Жыл бұрын
  • Ok....this is an apartment maintenance guy and not a plumber. Plumbers do not double up wax rings. This is an unacceptable attempt at a repair. All toilet flanges need to be at or up to 1/4" above finish floor height. If you don't want to replace the flange you can install a flange plate to get the needed height. I like the fact you knew about a Jam bar tool for flange bolts. All flange bolts are either 1/2" or 7/16 so you can put away those channel locks. The wax ring you are using with the plastic boot is another bad idea. The boot over many flushes can spin loose and partially block the drain opening.... especially on commercial toilets with an air assisted flush. Use the rubber rings, they work great with no mess and they can be used again if you pull the same toilet. This makes the toilet flange a much more servicable connection. If you don't address the flange issue you can damage the subfloor and have a much bigger problem.

    • Plumbers do too use double wax rings......Who told you "real plumbers" don't? Just because you don't doesn't mean someone else with the same qualifications wouldn't?

  • You usually have to remove caulking, use multi tool, have a set of bolts just in case bolts are rotten, double up wax top one with out horn, caulk toilet when finished

  • Why would you post a video on how to do it wrong??? Of course you're going to get crap for saying that. Putting a wax ring on top of a wax ring is wrong. If you want to do it, go ahead, but don't make a video "here's how to do it". The flange extension was not not even a good recommendation since it looked like the flange is above the floor. Simply a thicker wax ring would be all you needed.

    • There is no ‘how to’ or anything like that in the title or the video. This is how ‘I’, me, Dave an apartment maintenance technician, handled the situation with what we had in stock. Call it wrong call it a hack, it works, and it won’t leak if done like I did in this video.

    • @@ApartmentMaintenancePro Well Dave, ya did it wrong. Please don't post videos about "how you did it wrong". Keep those to yourself unless it's titled "here's an alternative method that might work for you if you don't have the right parts". I see a lot of videos on KZhead where people post "how to's" (whether in title or not) that are just plain wrong.
