    @DRnatal@DRnatal8 ай бұрын
  • This was Novak’s most important Grand Slam final win in my humble opinion. Losing this would have let in too many doubts into his mind. He had lost 3 major finals in a row coming into this and won only 1 out of the last 6 he had played. Back to back losses at the French and Wimbledon to his 2 greatest rivals would have really taken a massive hit. Winning this match the way he did is what helped him win essentially everything post this match. Would have won the US if it weren’t for the heat, I was there that day. Nishikori deserves credit for winning that semi against Novak but the heat gets to Novak like nothing else.

    @aounjafarey1036@aounjafarey10365 жыл бұрын
    • Yup, smart observation. A loss here, especially after having been up a match point, would have been devastating for him given that he lost the previous three finals. This match marked the beginning of the third act in his career.

  • What a joy to watch such magnificent tennis from both but Djokovic was the better player - we are so fortunate to have the big 3 playing in the same era (with Fed crossing over two generations and evolving his game into also playing extended rallies as lead by Nadal and Djokovic). Thanks to each of the Big 3 raising the bar, they have each become Super Human to produce so many "greatest matches" of all time. We have been spoiled and so enjoy them whilst they are still around.

  • That last service game by Federer...... Four unforced errors to hand Djokovic the match. He just plays against himself when he plays against Djokovic. For the longest time, he was that way with Nadal but not anymore. Federer just isn't as mentally strong as a 20 time grand slam champion should be.

  • R F played extremely poor in 5th set when it is 4 - 4, and he missed the super easy volley, and then played rest of the points like a very ordinary player. It is really shocking how R F mentally so vulnerable and nervous in crtically big moments. It is a tragedy for him, he does have god like skill but mentally unable to handle pressure in many losses against N D

    • @Enterfly Nadal was invincible from 2008 to 2011. He then lost dominance on surfaces other than clay. He hasn't beat Federer on hard and quick surfaces a lot since 2011. His encounter with Fed since then has been mostly restricted to clay because he got knocked out way too early to meet him. Djoke on other hand has owned Fed in finals since 2011.

They can't embrace the fact that there's someone better than their hero. Find it difficult to digest. Got to feel sorry for them. (Don't mean this as disrespect to Fed. He's a true legend.)
