Our final instalment with expert trader Tom Hougaard concludes with using the Stroop test to show how our minds can be easily misled and how we can react quickly without thinking. He uses this as a metaphor to show how when we stare at stock charts, our minds can jump to conclusions.
We, therefore, need to discipline ourselves so we don’t react without thinking when trading. He instructs us to not be fooled by our mind's tendency to jump to these conclusions, as it seeks out the answer we want.

Spread bets and CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 66% of retail investor accounts lose money when spread betting and/or trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how spread bets and CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money
First money mistake to avoid is feeling the need to solve everything and be there for everyone, you have to invest in yourself before investing in others
You live and learn. I blew two funded $50K accounts with Karen L Nancy mentorship program. It's really making me self reflect and be able to see my trading mistakes even more. I got caught up in revenge trading and not walking away when I should have.
Our issue stems from the prevalent belief held by the majority that "having a good job is all it takes to become wealthy." Many people are unaware that these billionaires are using a different set of rules when conducting business.
That's very practical and smart goal, a wise man once said do everything you can to get outta debt, one of his tips to get rich.
The best approach for novices is to trade under the supervision of an expert, trust me you will be debt free.
I start investing my cash in others to achieve all my dream with the help of Karen Nancy. The difference Mrs Karen L Nancy make in my life is second to none. It's definitely a life changing kindness. I really appreciate her effort in my life time.
this whole conference is just pure gold! thx a lot
Thanks for watching!
Where can I find the entire conference
I would rather call it, entertaining bla bla. Suprised there are so much thankfull comments, like im sure it didnt change any of you trading results. He clearly didnt say a word about closing the position. So all it was bla bla bla, cheap words and advices. Buy hight sell even higher? Add to ur winning position? Well, cheap words.
@@jarosawudzien1685 Agree with you. Very surprised by amount of BS in these presentations
@@alexairplanner The one thing he was absolutely correct about is that everyone is doing the same technicals and still losing. Technicals and even fundamentals with all the paid subscriptions now are pretty easy. So I would tend to believe it has a lot to do with psychology....hence the reason its much easier to kill it on paper trading and then you go bust on real. Its the fear of losing real money...not the trading. The charts are the same.
The most important thing I've ever learned in my life, is something i came to conclusion on my own. "People believe what they want to believe"
What a great presentation. I watched all the parts, and I must say, I’ve never felt better.
Basically, he means don't buy low sell high. Buy strong stocks, when price goes up, buy more, cos the uptrend is clear.
Thank you so much for the serie ! Incredible journey !
Thanks for watching!
Thank you guys 🙏🏻. Amazing presentation really it's changed my way of thinking 🙂
After money heist, this is the only series I watched in a single stretch. Thank you and wonderfull eye opening video.. He is great in teaching..
Thanks for watching!
Most Excellent! Thank you, Tom! Now, I begin your book.
This was a good presentation, Helpful
Thank you TOM !
I watched them over and over and still want to watch them, great thinking
This has been a rollercoaster of emotions, as a relatively green intraday trader. I've gained a lot of insights on how your psychology should be towards the market. Kudos to your channel for uploading it all... 🙏
So glad I watched this! Now I won't spend too much time studying indicators, just stick to my money management rules and keeping my emotions at bay. I just subscribed to Trader Tom's channel :)
Wait is there a part 8? I’m looking for the complete talk please if available
wow what an amazing presentation. Thank you Mr. Hougaard.
WOW! I didnt expect him to bring that angle to the exercise. What a legend!
The speaker has hit the nail on the head. Looking forward for more content from him.
Unbelievable amount of value in this talk, crazy to think that most traders go their entire careers not utilizing this wisdom...
Thanks for watching!
They even go their entire careers not adding to winning positions, hehe
Wow the whole series was very timely to me where am watching it now, because I was about make another repetition of the same mistakes. The bible says seek and you shall find, I actually find this time. Thank you Tom H
Very good content and refreshing
Excellent preso and I watched all parts and shed light on some of the issues, I have experienced in my journey.
Amazing! this lecture really gave me a lot to think about.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome!! Just plain awesome
I really appreciated this talk. As someone who's relatively new to trading, it was of great, great value! Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
hows your trading been going two years on???
thanks for sharing valuable knowledge
Wow, thanks for this.
This conference is such a gem ❤️🔥
Phenomenal stuff!
Thanks for watching!
This is what a real PROFESSIONAL 🧑💻 ( TOP 1 % ) TRADER 📊 think 🤔 like.... Trading is more about human psychology than technicals or any trading 📊 strategy.... Thanks a lot 👍 I am very blessed to findout with great learnings on KZhead free. Thanks again 👍 Great efforts 💪
Watched all videos with great joy and boy what a valuable information from this friendly Danish giant! I am quite sure I will watch these videos multiple times.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you 😊
I watched all the parts in one go and added to watch later too. Gold!
Thanks for watching!
I feel like there should be more to this.
Amazing
Amazing... Last exercise was awesome 😂
this video was probably the best i have seen when it comes to trading. where can i find more videos like these?
very informative. thanks all 7
Thanks for watching!
I very much appreciate this presentation. I've been sick and unemployed for the last 5 years without a pot to piss in. Cant feed a family on just crypto mining unless you already had thousands and thousands of dollars to start with. The volatility of the crypto markets without the constraints of the rules of traditional trading is about my only ticket at this point. I went a week without any training. Then a week after learning technical analysis, and tonight i turn a new leaf. I earn $30 a day in mining and I can afford to lose that $30 every day until I stop losing. This presentation has taught me alot about my initial strategy, its advantages and disadvantages. Today was the last day I take profits in ways as so many KZhead personalities suggest. Lost most of my earnings today on ethereum when it rocketed 160 bucks either resizing my position, or thinking it would be ok to take my profit for the day, then getting scared I made the wrong choice. Now, had I went long and stayed there when the price was down $260 a day ago......point is you dont know until you know and you have set off already to find out. I was right nearly 100% on paper but when real money was in a trade, I second guessed my way in to making the exchange lots of money and me almost nothing instead of seeing things to the end from where I started. Also exiting good moves for fear of losing. My position did grow, but not the nearly 40% it should have, had I watched this yesterday. The excercise in fear I will certainly have to embrace. I was viciously attacked by 2 dogs when I was 3 years old and fear has been a constant complication in my life ever since. But I overcame that and I'm also autistic, so cutting the emotion out in order to get the work done and be the best I can be or need to be is second nature by this point. Plus I work best alone and I can work anytime now, even when I'm sick. I can take the days off I need and wont get fired if I cant get out of bed on my first day on the job. I'd rather be welding, or machining, or driving truck, or farming, any work with my hands, body , mind and soul. But since my body is decrepit, I will trade for my family's sake.
Hope you are doing well. It's a very difficult path to earn money this way. Very difficult specially first three years. Anyway I wanted to point something about what you said. What I see is that if you where attacked by two dogs when you were almost a baby and you survived then you should be PROUD of yourself. Even more those dogs must be dead by this time and you are here to tell it. You won the battle, you won! Best wishes to you and your family
It's like never before I heard anything like this, that's pure thing 💯
Thanks for watching!
Thank you
Thank you so much for all this information but why you didn’t choose the $SPY instead of $DOW or any other ticker instead of same through whole session
I have watched all videos again and again, these are gold, thank you so much to Tom and the channel. Somehow I think the crucial conclusion is in part 8 which is the missing piece. Anyone could tell where to find it? I saw many comments below asked about it but there is no response so far. @Opto, would you please reply?
Believe me, This is the best video i have seen so far in youtube and it mostly explained the inner workings when i went broke and when now i am making profits over a long trading career. Newbies wont get this unless they make losses and recover.
Damn the whole series I'm like this will definitely make me blow my account. I'm actually scared.
This entire presentation was brilliant. Thank you very much Tom, I think you've just help me unlock the missing piece of the puzzle I needed to completely revamp the way I think about the markets. If you're reading this, god bless you and have a lovely day.
Thanks for watching!
What was the missing price of the puzzle
@@joannesmith1175 ur mom
thank you for this! i learned a lot from Trader Tom! 💛🔥
Thanks for watching!
Very, very good. I have liked the lecture a lot.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you..it was amazing series.
Thanks for watching!
Great series of lectures - but if you "think" that you could identify some Thur-Fri-Mon/hi/low pattern such as described here ahead of thousands of computers programmed by Math/Physics PHd's from MIT and such - that's delusional. I traded for couple of decades now, +10K trades per year, and it's easier to assume prices are random, because they (mostly) are. Best wishes in trading!
This is very useful but hope i can find the part 8 and ending of this video 😆
thank you so much for this awesome series. I will watch this again. The only thing I couldn't understand is while adding new positions when I am winning, when should I book profits?
Thanks for watching!
when everything *besides* your own fear of missing the top is indicating it's over
@@handokurimu haha nice, thank you 😊
SUPER AMAZING
Watched all 7 videos.. brilliant talk. Lots to learn and implement from this in our own personal trading styles. Thanks for sharing.
Can you please summarize the key take aways of this series in few points? Thanks!
@@dannyd8347 1- Retail traders are trading like dicks. Hence they loose 2- technical analysis is the same for all.. its NO advantage to know or learn with expensive classes / courses etc 3- Trading, IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what we do in life!!!! Hence we loose money 4- We as humans have biases. they make us fail in trading!! . . there's more insight that i can provide in a few lines or words here.. spend 1.5 hours.. watch it!!!
Venky K Thanks mate
Thanks for watching!
so awesome!! watched all parts. thanks for sharing this and thanks to tom of course :)
Thanks for watching!
Excellent! Thank you, Mr. Hougaard
Is there a chance we can get Tom's powerpoint presentation somehow? I know he mentioned to the participants they can get it.
GREAT PRESENTATION. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE VALUE.
Is there any link to the full thing or the slideshow?
Danke viele
Good lord this guy knows how to hold a presentation not once was I bored.
well, not taking profits early is great, but only if you know where early is and where just the right time is, lol.
I would like to know more about how to finally exit the trade and where you set your stop losses.
I don't use stop loss anymore.
good parts
The first 5 parts made my day, but part 6 and 7 made my hole weak!
Is the full presentation available ?
Great great series. Thank you 🙂
Thanks for watching!
Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom ,Thank you :))
That was the most informative set of videos i saw on trading. I am exactly making same mistakes that he mentioned. I can improve the way I think while trading.
Thanks for watching!
@@OptoThemes As others have mentioned could you please fix the playlist? Number 7 is there twice, and we are actually missing a part between 6 and 7
Where can we find stock market statistics such as these?
Nice lecture! But I didn't understand one main thing. Did Tom mean to increase the risk in order to make a good profit? I'm a bit confused. Many traders know high-risk trading can cause big losses and even can wipe out your account.
No, he didn't. He basically said to add to your winning positions and cut the losing ones. Whereas in general people start adding to their losing positions (to average a lower entry price HOPING the market will turn) and take profit earlier on their winning ones.
only if u seen your position runs, add to it, sureley at the right entrys ;) not blind
You expect too much from them Tom, you really do. But credit for you for persistently trying, ha ha.
IS part 7 the last video? Clearly the lecture is not over but i don't see any more episodes?
The same way, life is all about the mental game, so do trading.. its easy, logical way of teaching. gain lots of insight.thanks sir
Awesome valuable information! Thanks so much. God Bless
Very interesting conference. 🇦🇴 🇦🇴
Hell of a conference
Thanks for watching!
Wow..
This was sensational! Can you please fix episode number 7 as it is the same as 8...I think we are missing the second part of the scenarios from episode 6 :)
Yes please. The further scenarios are missing. some of the most important part got cut out
they never got back to us
Where is the full video?
What an amazing seminar 😇
The colours thing is called 'the stroop effect'
Great event...love it
Where is the next part 8
Where is part 8?
I recall this is Daniel kahneman’s essay?
This colour exercise got me so twisted
This presentation was pivotal. thank you!
front row guy looks so pissed LOL
🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠
Grue! 😂
This guy can change the whole world.
gold is all i can say
Amazing watched all the parts , a lot to take away
Great stuff ! Luckily i realised years ago that TA is total bullshit, maybe thats why i made 50% last year and this year already 100% ROI. I mostly sell options (cash flow)..nobody knows where the price is going. My crystal ball has been broken at least 10 years 👍
Isn't buying a breakout a sort of technical analysis? Technical analysis can definitely assist in a trade but yes it is highly flawed and can be very unreliable. I can't imagine staring at just a blank chart of candles with nothing else though.
I will forever be indebted to you 😇 you’ve changed my whole life I’ll continue to preach about your name for the world to hear you’ve saved me from a huge financial debt with just little investment thanks so much Mrs Ariana
If you want to be successful in this business, you should forget technical analysis and instead look for liquidities.
this made me realise how dum iam
fantastic series of the core principles every trader should think first before anything about tech/fund/etc analysis.👏.👏.👏.👏.👏.👏👍
