Making Mechanical Wood Chipper

2023 ж. 2 Там.

I decided to solve the problem with the branches, in the end I decided to make a chipper. I already had a low-power electric gearmotor, so I decided to make a mechanism with a roller under the cutting blades, the idea with the roller was suggested to me by my friend Darek from the Made in Poland channel. Thanks to the roller, there is much less overload during cutting, thanks to which the 1.5KW 260 rpm electric gear motor perfectly copes with branches with a diameter of up to 4.5 cm.
My favorite phone from years ago, Nokia 3310, appeared in the video - not sponsored.

  • What a super machine! I would love to have one like that to chunk up all of the branches that we have. If one could get a hold of some super low cost mesh sacks one could fill them and then stack in rows to dry in the sun or in a building/covered area. While firewood is great for burn pits smaller branches works just as well.

  • Felicitări! Dintre toate tocătoarele home made, este cel mai reușit. Viteza de avans este bună, doar marginea gurii de alimentare trebuie rotunjită, pentru a nu se agăța crengile la întrare. Perfect!

  • That turned out well. I would like to encourage you to harden your cutters. If you have a cutting torch or a forge, you can do this with some used motor oil. Heat up the cutting edges so they glow red, and hold them with locking pliers or maybe a c clamp, and place them in the oil till they stop bubbling, and allow them to cool, then reassemble them. This makes the cutting edge stay sharp longer, and helps prevent accidents or something worse. You can use water instead of oil, but they may become too hard and shatter. You can find more information on KZhead.

  • I've seen quite a few builds of these machines, all from Eastern Europe. This is by far, the simplest, most effective way to build one. My stove loves the type of fuel these machines make from branches. The highest temps I've gotten were from chopped branches, that I have to make, one at a time with a chop saw. I'd like to make a double bladed machine for larger branches.... up to 3 inch, or 7.5 cm... I have access to the machinery and welders. Love your channel...

    @willwade1101@willwade11019 ай бұрын
    • Yes, you're right, but I don't have a milling machine, the machine you see in the video is a drill and although I sometimes use it for milling, it's for thin sheets, but in general the machine, although very solid, is not made for milling :)

      @WorkshopFromScratch@WorkshopFromScratch9 ай бұрын
    • @@WorkshopFromScratch Put the end mill in the chuck and mill downwards as if you were drilling the material out. I've done that several times when I couldn't get a milling machine to do the work. Once done use the grinder to smooth the cuts.
