The wood chipper is a very useful tool, especially now when firewood prices are constantly rising.
In this video, we decided to make a two-shaft chipper that can also cut branches that are too thick to the right size.
The maximum diameter of the branches is about 7-8 cm, but thanks to the cutting blades, we can cut wood with a diameter of up to 15 cm in half and quarters.
The tractor has a power of 18 HP
The flywheel weighs approximately 15 kg
The structure of the mechanism is made of 8 mm sheet metal and 200 mm C-channel.

  • Amazingly done. Safety tip: Never stand in front of a wood chipper, you can be pulled in, always stand to the side. Be safe!

  • I like the way that you cut your keyways into shafts. It's simple and effective.

  • I have to admit that I was skeptical about this build but it really turned out great!!! Now that’s a chipper!!!

  • This just shows that of all the elements of brilliant machine shop operation (tools, materials, etc.), brainpower and experience are the most important. What a joy to see him work!

  • That was amazing. Reminded of my grandfather. He had those kind of skills too. Full watch.

  • That is a really extreme angle on that PTO shaft... if you start wearing out the u joints, i'd look into lowering the stand on the chipper so the angle isnt so severe.

  • As a welder and machinist I can say this is pro work. Not as simple as he makes it look.

  • Very nicely designed and built. It would make short work of cook stove wood, and kindling. You might need some shaft end bearing support on the little splitter, sooner, or later, but that was neat.

  • Very nice work !! This will be handy for a small wood stove owner or to make kindling either way GREAT job building it !! Getting that balanced and everything is time consuming not to mention the time building it !! 👍👍
