It's subtle and I don't know how much it played into GM3's defense because it was so quick, but I noticed when Khamzat stepped into the punch, he actually stepped on Gerald's foot. Whether that played into it or not, that KO doesn't get any more perfect.

I mean the fight didn't exactly go that long. I'm sure if even another minute went by you would have seen some grappling exchanges. I think part of the reason khamzat started out applying pressure right away (which he usually does with everyone anyway) was because he wanted to be the one to initiate the takedown and get Meerschaert going backwards, rather than waiting for Meerschaert to shoot in on him. If those shots didn't end up finishing him, at the very least it'd help him start 2nd guessing things and then right when all of his focus goes to defending strikes, Khamzat takes him for a ride

I mean the fight didn't exactly go that long. I'm sure if even another minute went by you would have seen some grappling exchanges. I think part of the reason khamzat started out applying pressure right away (which he usually does with everyone anyway) was because he wanted to be the one to initiate the takedown and get Meerschaert going backwards, rather than waiting for Meerschaert to shoot in on him. If those shots didn't end up finishing him, at the very least it'd help him start 2nd guessing things and then right when all of his focus goes to defending strikes, Khamzat takes him for a ride
