It’s only real utility is a long term store of value and hedge against currency inflation, but that assumes there’s liquidity and that you secure the bitcoin. You’re on your own if you lose the keys, get hacked or send them to the wrong wallet or some other user error. It’s great for software engineers and technical users but will never be mainstream. Payment networks like PayPal and Venmo got hip, realized they needed to offer lower fees. Their security is much better and if something goes wrong you can at least contact their service division.

For most of these countries, tourism is at least 20% of their GDP, often as high as 80% . So for every one person getting mad about rich cryoto people visiting peurto rico to spend money, there'll be at least 10 who realise it's a good thing, even if they don't accomplish anythign except spend money locally.
