If you replace your tilt motor and don't replace both e-clips, over time the motor screw can back out and eventually strip the threads of the tilt nut. This was the mistake that I made and this video shows how to correct the problem.

  • Great Job DAVE ! Very well described and explained step by step . I have had the same problem. changed the Tilt motor (for the refurbished one ) and just after couple of weeks the motor stoped working. I admit that I did not changed the Pivot pin nut, and I lost the smoller e-clip (the one that is further of the motor it self). Did You have to use Brand New e-clips or did You just reuse the once from old motor?: P.s. I would like to know; what is the the cost of that Pivot Nut and Brand New Tilt Motor (if You do not mind ) Regards. maverick

    • You can use the old e-clip if you can find it. If you don't have it, it is not expensive to get a new one, less than $5. The pivot nut was about $18. For a new tilt motor, I paid about $300. I bought all my parts at: www.lexuspartsnow.com. I think the price of the motor may have gone up because I am seeing it listed for $396,

  • When you replace the tilt motor do you need to replace to tilt nut at the same time? or the tilt nut only went bad when the because the Eclip was not reinstalled?

  • I'm a little confused Dave. I though you had fixed your tilt problem by replacing the tilt motor. Now your saying the threads on this "nut" also stripped out after you replaced the tilt motor? Thanks for any clarification you can give me.

    • He said he left the small e-clip out when he originally replaced the motor and therefore the motor axle screw worked it's way out from the pivot nut and damaged the nut threads. That's why he had to replace the pivot nut too. No need to replace the pivot nut if you put the axle screw e-clips back.

  • You can loosen the plastic below the motor by removing a 10 mil. screw you can feel below the ignition switch and to the right, where the plastic touches the carpet. Pop out the bezel around the ignition and pull the plastic down about 3/4 of and inch then you can screw the motor in enough to swing the motor about 150 degrees and access the e-clips with a point and needle nose pliers. Do the same thing to put the e-clips back.
