to all the people who think this is fascism or brainwashing abuse, join JROTC. my platoon had this done to them and laughed about it afterwards, the marines were cool guys who wanted to teach us how to keep calm during pressure. if you can't handle friendlies yelling in your ear, you can't handle bullets whizzing past you.

- As a JROTC cadet I feel like you don't understand that there's no military obligation for JROTC. It's college level ROTC that has actual military obligation. JROTC is just a leadership lab with military elements

Oh lord this brings back memories as an able seaman in the Aus Navy being given free reign on the midshipman recruits we were training. Captain and nav enjoyed watching me sit on a beach chair as the middies chipped off paint in the sun in full action stations kit. Anti flash mask and gloves on. Helmet and a gas mask. They very quickly learnt to not back chat even if they are a commissioned Officer.

During AIT,....we had Cadets from Westpoint. We were required to refer to them as either "drill-cadet", or "sir". They tried really hard to be hardasses, but they just couldn't pull it off. They just didn't have that level of "psycho" that the Drill Sergeants did !! LOL

Nobody does it better!!! And these aren't even Full blown drill instructors. They give you more hell than this. Good thing for them it's only a few hours for them. All Marines go through over 3 months of this! Night and Day! Been there done that. It's with the greatest honor to be called a Marine! It is earned. Not given. Brings back some good memories. Oh yes, and lots of pain too! 😆 Semper FI!

- +bane They're teaching them the pressures of taking commands during combat, and to never question a commanding officers orders no matter how dumb they are (and the marine is just having a little fun doing it), just because it seems unorthodox and silly does not mean it's not an effective training method.

According to customs and curtsies of JROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Young Marines and Sea Cadets, all military personnel are to be saluted by cadets, though they do not have to return the salute.
