@@JLacay they really botched it up purposely because the classic gamers knew it would happen They decided to make it dreadful instead where apparently Isaac went insane and wants to build Marker which goes to Dead Space 2 story
It made me feel so sad for Isaac, that even after Kendra betrayed him, he STILL tries to save her….but in the end, he couldn’t save anyone.
It definitely makes Isaac even more of a tragic character. Despite Kendra's betrayal, he never wanted to see her die too. Her, or Hammond, or Johnston, or Chen. At the end of it all, the only thing he's left with is the Marker's influence on him. But there's hope for him, considering we know the events of DS2. (And I hope we get a remake of that so badly.)
the changes they do with kendra here i liked it in the original she wants to retrieve the marker in this one she wants to destroy the marker but dont justify her actions by killing innocents people as well but in the original we have 0 sympathy for her(crazy bitch and evil) in here well i get her point of view but even so she has gonne too far and even isaac tries to save her and she even dont want to kill him,she have more humanity in this one but even so she deserve her fate.
@@tiagoalves2056 I think kendra may have a relation with daina (dead space 2) wich it was the same case that was daina was planning to lead him to the church and killing him for the marker, but that would make no sense that daina wanted to kill issac even with the necromorph apocalypse and I hope they make a good remake in dead space 2 so they would fix the story of dead space 3
Anyone else notice that Kendra's body disappears after the Hive Mind smashes her like a pancake and throws her to the side? After the boss fight there is only blood there lol. Not saying she survived that but it's quite interesting

The Nicole jumpscare is weaker here. In the OG, she hid behind the chair to unnerve the player before jumping on Isaac like an animal. At least Isaac's face looks disturbing in the alternate ending.

Yeah, her jump at Issac is really weak. The original jump had more scare, energy, and a ghostly feel. This felt almost silly. Like my wife jumping around a corner and yelling “boo” while giving me a hug.
It's different, but the original one is scarier. This one has a different taste, they needed to try something a little different from time to time.

They could of had him look over and she wasn’t there and right as we think it’s over she comes from behind him or something. That would have been different and still scary. This was a lame hug or something. It lacked any kind of scary energy. It was silly even.

The alternate ending is scary and done PERFECTLY! It would make sense that Isaac lost his mind for a period of time and build tons of Markers until he woke up and finally became self aware of himself in Dead Space 2

The alternative ending is not what leads to dead space 2, it's a bad ending that turns Isaac into a psycho Unitologist... Isaac did not create any marker, the knowledge was extracted by the governament through tech, interrogation and torture so they could recreate a marker. If anything, this thing might be an attempt at retconning Isaac to be the bad guy.

Yeah, cool in concept, but it doesn't make sense how basically no necomorphs attacked Elizabeth and how she even made it that far with no equipment or weapons at all.
yea it also fills the plot hole from the original game where you had to think about how Nicole managed to unlock the door (where you protected her from necromorphs) if she was just an hallucination.
@@patigelstarberry4302 I saw a video on KZhead about how the marker will keep some humans alive IF it deems them more dangerous than alive. Kinda like stross in deadspace2. I think if true that makes the necromorphs EVEN more terrifying

@@patigelstarberry4302 The Marker probably figured out that a) Isaac can take care of himself and b) these attacks will take a psychological toll on him. Said toll will make him easier to control and influence
This is a good lead up to DS2. Think about it. EarthGov instead of finding a knocked out engineer; they find a crazed man who has symbols and drawings of the marker all over. They capture him, drug him to all hell, and forcefully make him build a marker. The drugs in a way helped Isaac get out of the Marker's control.
Would be the CEC if anything only because if I remember correctly Earthgov is trying to cover it up
If they remake dp2 wich I hope they do alternate ending certainly seems to be possibly teasing that they could retcon certain things so it fits with this alternate ending more

Now they absolutely HAVE to remake Dead Space 2. This game is awesome.

I hope they put that necromorph commander unit... thing that was cancelled in the original DS2 due to performance limitations. The concept art alone was cool enough to make me think that it was a crime to remove it.
I believe the first ending is still valid, the secret ending is what happened afterwards in the ship. I think on the secret ending, he's on some sort of coping from learning Nicole's death where the Marker still has a grasp on Isaac's mind controlling what he sees. Which led him to building another Marker until he woke up from his coping, probably someone wanting to claim Isaac's work and sent him to the Asylum.

If you complete the premeditated malpractice side mission the dialog when you kill the Hunter changes from "You're done you sone of a bitch!", to "You're done Harris, he can't hurt you anymore."

That's crazy! I'm a bit confused, though. By that dialogue, it reads to me as if the Hive Mind was trying to stop Isaac from carrying out the mission of whatever else was speaking to him? I guess what I'm trying to ask is who showed him what, and what are the trying to stop him from doing? Feel free to let me know if I'm way off, too. Lol
I like that the alternate ending seems to not be an actual alternate ending to the first. Isaac probably experienced the first ending and then the following week or two we see the second one play out where he's just scribbling on walls and still believing Nicole is with him, just like Kynes.

@@jace8785 Nah it was scarier. It looks more frightening in the original. Probably due to it being much darker and Nicole is hunched over with her face hidden before screaming. Plus the face is creepier.

They had to put more into the original ending because the quality of graphics etc etc wasn’t as good so they had make up for it with better jump scare

A nice detail if you pay attention is Nicole’s rig is empty
A really nice detail is the dialogue that Isaac says to the hive mind. The normal ending he says "come on then, cause this is all I have left " and in the alternative ending he says "It showed me what to do. You can't stop me"

Issac's really gone insane and he draws a lot of marker words and the marks in his ship. More important is he keeps smiling with his big eyes..... That's really creepy.....

Story is pretty much the same, and it's chilling like the old one. Now with much crisp detail.
I didn't like how they changed the scene where he finds out Nicole has been dead the entire time. I also didn't like how much tamer they made Kendra's death. I wish these devs weren't arrogant enough to think they could "improve" upon this masterpiece. In general, their changes were inferior to the original. The only thing it really has going for it is the modern graphics.
Except the whole Marker plot that Daniels and the EarthGov wanted it to destroy it instead of keeping it for study but it's already too late to contain it which I found it more practical and more bleak than the original

@@t41886 Go watch the original. In the remake, she just gets flattened with no fanfare. In the original, she gets flung into the side of the building so hard, she splatters everywhere. It's awesome.
I think the secret part is more like what happened after some time. Marker's programming blocked Isaac's true self and went to build a new marker to make a convergence. All the prints and drawings on the walls of shuttle are the proof that some time passed, because I didnt see them when we entered it.
It was unexpected to see Adam Sandler as Isaac Clarke, my respect to the developers
Isaac looks like he's going to invite me to a pedicure shop and give me an in-depth explanation of how to avoid being arrested for tax evasion

Tbh the Secret Ending actually helps with one of my gripes with Dead Space 2, the whole "Nicole is actually helping". I found it weird that Isaac believes that Dead Nicole is a good illusion coming from his mind after Dead Space 1, and after almost being killed by the ilusion/himself. HOWEVER, if Isaac by the end of Dead Space 1 actually thought Nicole was alive and she had good intentions with him , his mental struggle first and the confidence trust unto her makes more sense. And by the end of Dead Space 2, the "I trusted you! Fuck you, and fuck your Marker" just feels even better
I mean Isaac is a broken man in 2, his mental state is out of control. Remember after the original he got captured by earthgov and was put in stasis for about 3 years while being unaware of that he was building a marker. So he never really had time to process her death and grieve. So he was clinging on to her and the guilt of believing he got her killed and when she became less hostile to let his guard down, he still couldn't let go. So the only reason he believed she was helping him, is because the Marker gave him a false sense of acceptance

They've done it before, and they done it now, and somehow now people wouldn't take it and want it to change to look like the original, but the original is also Gunner Wright's face, now it still Gunner Wright's face, the devs did exactly what Visceral had done. Geez it's like you guys asking Gunner and Tanya to change their face or something... I think this just the same phase when people still used to the old model. And just like DS2 Nicole, they'll get used to it sooner or later.

So this 100% reinforces Dead Space 2. I was always so confused when they time jumped and it opened with "hey you went crazy for a bit and built a bunch of these things" I always felt it would never fit Issacs character. after going through new game plus and if you read the journal entries its all layed out.
Issac himself never built the markers, they took the blueprints in his mind and earthgov built it themselves. So the alternate ending is probably non-canon especially given his feelings on unitology and the events inside the second game itself
@@saric0 I think both are cannon and happen during the period that Isaac is floating around waiting to be found by EarthGov. This would just make it more apparent to them that he has been imprinted on by the Marker, seeing as they would find him half crazed with scribblings all over his ship.
@GreatBigFatPerson I think it would be nice to see him have a blackout moment with the symbols and then to be yelling at nicole to leave him alone. The way he's acting in the alternate ending is very close to stross
@GreatBigFatPerson or it could be him trapped in his own mind and that's what they see when they find him until he snaps back to reality after the opening of ds2 since he was kinda crazy in the interrogation scene. Like he has no idea what he's saying or doing.

I know its a longshot but seeing as how everyone seemed to really enjoy the dead space remake (myself included) i can very well see them making a dead space 2 remaster and or possibly even a expansion dlc where you get to see Temple's or Nicole's side of things before everything went to hell My only gripe i had with this game was the encounters with the "survivors" being you only see them in their last moments like i know its a horror game and all but i would like to come to a section with a stronghold or a small group of people then come back to them later and see them utterly destroyed and eviscerated everywhere by something unknown (tension builder to a new enemy) Im hoping if they do a dead space 2 remaster theyll have either a long section where it shows Isaac being found and put in the psyc ward before just appearing in it and the gradual buildup of everything going to hell rather than it just starting right off the bat
I honestly think that the dlc would fit in perfect for Gabe Weller, in a log, Security Chief Vincent gives gabe and a group of officers a assignment which is to escort the dead bodies following the mass suicide to the ishimura. I’d honestly love to see the side of the planet go to complete shit.

Technically both endings are canon, no matter how he escapes, he is still a lunatic that gets captured and drugged, seeing as the secret ending is more like a timeskip, it can even be said that it's a continuation of the first ending. In fact I like the addition of this secret ending,it makes the final fight with Nicole in DS2 have more impact.
No joke, there should’ve been another alternate ending where Isaac joins EarthGov by convincing Kendra he wants revenge on Unitology for taking everything away from him which convinces her as the two make it off the planet.

I honestly don't see the Adam Sandler connection. It's just Gunnar Wright, the VA behind Isaac.
@@GeneralNaga67 that’s understandable. I would suggest searching for an image of the Mr. Sandler. I get that these are two separate things. From my point of view his hair line is similar, nose is similar, mouth is similar, and eye shape is similar.

Isaac isn't the kind of character to have an iconic look outside his armor. But I feel people wouldn't have noticed as much if they gave him blue eyes like his original design had.

I feel like the sound design lacks the oomph that the original had in almost every way. Plasma cutter sounds weaker because it's a higher pitch with a hiss sound.

Well the "Secret" ending more like a "True" ending to me. More like it's happpening AFTER the original ending. A few hours(days) after when Isaac now totally lost his mind. It's a perfect prolouge to the second game.
That last boss fight gives me RE7 boss fight type of vibes
Isaac might not went insane like other people who are under Marker influent...but he still get hallucinations of Nicole. at least he didn't get the bad outcome like STROSS did before Dead space 2 where he murder his wife and daughter thinking they are monster (necromorph) and he went insane from the guilt

Wait is the secret ending an extension of the original? Because in the first one there aren't unitology scribbles all over the ship. And in the secret ending there is a time jump from when the Aegis 7 piece exploded back on the planet.

No, the secret ending only plays if you collect all of the collectible Marker Fragments on the ship. The normal ending is still the canon one.

it's already explained in the OG dead space 2. they found isaac in his ship and just messed with his brain and got the blueprint for the marker, thus building a new one

I think in the secret ending means that issac was already manipulated by the marker and he didn't realize it was Nicole wich that means it could be the entry of dead space 2 but when cant what would've make issac been founded by the titan station flying In space so that would be something interesting

I still don't get how a statue made of magic rock can do the things the Markers do. Is it radioactive? Does its shape allow it to capture, redirect and amplify whatever background signal there is in the universe? And if the original markers are filled with the necromorph pathogen, how do the red markers cause the infections?
It emits electromagnetic radiation as well as multiple signals alongside it. Some are instructions to build another marker which leads dumb people to go insane (literally the reason btw). The other is the “pathogen” which is a DNA code which is somehow able to rewrite the DNA in dead tissue.

With that bastard, timing it's the key, man. Then comes the use of the Energy Beam for the first stage of the battle, stasis and one of the "crowd control" tools for the second stage against its Necros and for the third and last stage, enters the fully upgraded Plasma Cutter. And I always carried the Rifle. Didn't died once in my first run on medium diff nor on my NG+ on hard, even with like one health bar at the end😁😥...but yeah, always been a thought boss because the f-n enclosed sorrounding😒😡👍

Actually they both do. These opposing endings would certainly contribute to his madness he partially succumbed to when they found his ship drifting.

The secret ending is outside of that mission. Rather, it’s an entirely different side quest, which is not recorded, where you have to get a bunch of marker fragments hidden around the game.

Did the fiinal boss bug out super hard for anyone else? The boss straight up disappeared before it grabbed me, and then just died with an acid explosion from out of thin air. Damn shame that i ended the game on such a bad note.
