  • Just a detail for people who haven't played the game, this game has a stylish meter where the flashiest the combo you're doing, the higher the ranking in a letter... And this system is linked to the OST Having different parts sounding depending on your performance, only having the vocals at S or higher if I remember well. So imagine the moment you make an absolute banger of a combo and finally getting an S only to a "I'AM THE STORM THAT IS APROACHING" to appear... I just love that mechanic and I wanted to share it to people who don't know much about the game.

    • Vocals don't exclusively kick in when you hit an S+ rank. The song just goes into different parts the higher you rise in your Stylish rank and when you hit an S Rank, the chorus is going to play. With Bury the Light it either starts with "I am the storm that is approaching" or "Forsakened I am awakened". Now if you stay in S+ the chorus will keep playing out until you reach the bridge of the song with "Bury the Light deep within". When that had played out and you're still in S Rank and the fight is still going it will restart at "I am the storm that is approaching".

At times it sounds so disjointed but it all comes together into a crazy piece of music. Victor Borba's vocals just take it over the edge.

  • The music in Devil May Cry 5 is pretty unique and does its own thing for the most part but Bury The Light is about as classic Devil May Cry as it gets. It has callbacks to every single game in the series. 5:25 Alex Moukala mentioned how the tone of the chorus changes from demonic to angelic depending on the style and he demonstrated this by playing it on piano and it sounded remarkably similar to Trish's theme from the original Devil May Cry. 15:40 This right here kind of reminds me of the style of Devil May Cry 2's ending theme Heads Or Tails but a little more slow and somber. 4:27 This is very reminiscent of how the music starts during the second battle with Vergil in Devil May Cry 3. 11:12 The vocals here remind me a lot of the vocals in the battle themes of Devil May Cry 3. 13:10 And if you can listen to this part and Devils Never Cry without noticing the similarities I don't know what to tell you. 6:58 This part reminds me a lot of Shall Never Surrender from Devil May Cry 4. 2:07 This is reminiscent of some of the music from DmC Devil May Cry. The Mundus boss fight in particular. 15:15 And then of course you have the reprise of Devil Trigger from Devil May Cry 5 tying it all together. The fact that Casey Edwards was able honor all the different styles of music throughout each of the games while still maintaining his own style he used in a Devils May Cry 5 can only be described as astonishing. It is nothing shy of a masterpiece and in my opinion stands shoulder to shoulder with all of the classic music of the originals.

  • Hope there's not character limit Bury the light is as much a character study as a theme song. Setting aside lyrics the music itself can be picked apart into three categories that explain the character First is the more classical instruments like the violin. His elegance and stability mixed with an honestly sad undertone just listening to the violin. All point to his childhood where he lived in a huge mansion and studied these things yet reliving those memories are painful and muted Second. The more metal parts. The drums. The guitar. Simply this is his raged, focused yet fractured. Constantly shifting tones and tunes muting the classical stuff. The violin can be heard through most of the song but it's heard to due to the metal rage taking him Third. As you said the disjointed and layered way tends to make a bad song but here it works perfectly which is all because of the synth. His madness. One of the first things you hear in the song and tends to act as a sort of transition between segments. His tramour. His pain. He became the darkness he hoped to destroy yet this madness blinds him from that As for DMC. It's a character action game. Meaning you kill a lot of monsters and look cool doing it. Unlike hack and slash games it emphasises the looking cool part. Lots of compli complicated combos and a scoring system with the aim to get SSS Rank. I bring this up because in the game when combat starts you only get the singing of the song. As you get a higher rank more of the song stars to play. An instrument or two at a time. You can only hear the full song if you're playing well

  • Basically every lyric from Bury the Light has importance to Vergil’s character, and you can hear it as the song progresses “Immortal temptation takes over my mind” His obsession with gaining more power “Inherent the nightmare, surrounded by fate. Can’t run away. Keep walking the line between the light, led astray” By the end of DMC 5, Vergil’s obsession is curbed, and he’s more willing to listen to his brother Dante. Although, he’s not completely there yet “Two souls once lost, and now they remember” This can either be V and Urizen, or Dante and Vergil “I am reclaimer of my name” Vergil feels as though Sparda’s name isn’t being respected “Born in flames, I have been blessed” When he lost his mother and nearly lost his own life as a child “My family crest is a demon of death” His father Sparda having slain legions of his own kind “Lost shadows left behind” V’s familiars Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare, who were created from Vergil’s own nightmares “Bury the light deep within, cast aside there’s no coming home” He’s not casting the light aside, he’s burying it within himself so that it doesn’t lose it’s luster

    @ArcherR135@ArcherR135 Жыл бұрын
    • See, I read the last part of the song as a highlight of the most tragic aspects of Vergil's character. "Bury the light deep within" is him suppressing his humanity, and "cast aside, there's no coming home" is him believing that his mother abandoned him during the attack on their home. That trauma is what drives him as a person, because ultimately Vergil's motivation is his belief that the world is dangerous and that the only way to not get hurt again is to become more powerful; "We're burning chaos in the wind, drifting in the ocean all alone."

It adapts according to how well you perform in combat, the higher your score, the more epic it gets, but when you get hurt, the song gets more quiet and subdued. • I just wanna say, songs from dmc especially this one, and other songs in other games such as MGRR, you really feel the effort and love that was put in them. in bury the light's case.. it's been so long since we've such an accurate, beautiful, motivational song that truly tells you Vergil's story through the lyrics and the music itself.

  • Late to this party, but anyone who likes this, should check out Casey Edwards talking about the production of this song. He was basically given a challenge to produce a heavy song, that fits the character of Virgil, without to much guitar. Most of what you hear are synths. The words, sounds, everything is to fit this character. It's an masterpiece on its own, but with context, its one of the best songs in gaming history.

  • Seeing you get constantly surprised by this song is consistently the first time reaction for everyone who hears it. It's such a musical buffet of keys, tempos, arrangements, instruments, and vocal styles. It has so much variety it's honestly astounding. This song deserves a place in superlative. Everyone needs to hear this.

  • You have no choice but to chalk this up to the power of Vergil Spardason. We DMC fans had been waiting through years of hell for Vergil to be a proper part of a DMC game story, so I bet when Casey discovered he would be making a song for a playable Vergil in the newest DMC game, the Prodigal Son of the DMC series, being a fan, he probably freaked out. (We were also dying for DMC 5 to get a special edition with an added playable Vergil all along, too.)

  • I don’t think anyone has pointed this out yet, but Devil May Cry music changes depending on how good you play. This is the whole song, but in the game you’ve got multiple layers. Like, when enemies first appear, you’ve got that atmosphere-setting intro on a loop. Once you start fighting the song shifts into a mostly instrumental, and the lyrics finally kick in once you do something REALLY impressive. I gotta tell ya, slicing and enemy in half so hard you *break spacetime* followed by “I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROOOOOOOACHING!” halfway through a fight that was mostly instrumental until now is one of the best feelings in the game.

Amazing reaction. Played Devil May Cry back in 2001 and Devil May Cry 5 is the latest installment in the series. One hell of a roller coaster indeed.

  • This is one of the most awesome songs I know. I know it for so long now and it's still an epic masterpiece for me. And as a side info for you, Mattie... This is one of the soundtracks in the game who are dynamic. That means, while slaughtering the demons in the game you reach a combo scoring. As more your combo rises, as sicker the song gets. In other words, the game rewards you with cooler music when you play better.

  • Immortal temptation takes over my mind Condemned Falling weak on my knees, summon the strength Of mayhem I am the storm that is approaching Provoking black clouds in isolation I am reclaimer of my name Born in flames, I have been blessed My family crest is a demon of death! Forsakened, I am awakened A phoenix's ash in dark divine Descending misery Destiny chasing time Inherit the nightmare, surrounded by fate Can’t run away Keep walking the line, between the light Led astray Through vacant halls I won’t surrender The truth revealed in eyes of ember We fight through fire and ice forever Two souls once lost, and now they remember I am the storm that is approaching Provoking black clouds in isolation I am reclaimer of my name Born in flames, I have been blessed My family crest is a demon of death! Forsakened, I am awakened A phoenix's ash in dark divine Descending misery Destiny chasing time Disappear into the night Lost shadows left behind Obsession's pulling me Fading, I've come to take what's mine! Lurking in the shadows under veil of night Constellations of blood pirouette Dancing through the graves of those who stand at my feet Dreams of the black throne I keep on repeat A derelict of dark, summoned from the ashes The puppet master congregates all the masses Pulling strings, twisting minds as blades hit You want this power? Then come try and take it Beyond the tree Fire burns Secret love Bloodline yearns Dark minds embrace Crimson joy Does your dim heart Heal or destroy? Bury the light deep within! Cast aside, there's no coming home! We're burning chaos in the wind! Drifting in the ocean all alone!
