Amsterdam: Approach and landing on runway 06 at Schiphol airport. AMS / EHAM. With ATC and ATIS. 4k
Approach and landing on runway 06 - the Kaagbaan - at Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport, Netherlands. AMS / EHAM. With ATC (air traffic control) audio and ATIS (airport terminal information service) audio. Captains view Airbus A320. Filmed in 4k.
Approach starts in the area of The Hague (Den Haag) city, passes Scheveningen and the North Sea beaches of Katwijk aan See, continues via Rijnsburg, the Kaag Lakes and the Westeinderplassen (Westend Lakes) near the city of Aalsmeer.
Because there are no no taxiways to the threshold, runway 06 is only used for landing.
Special for the ILS (instrument landing system) approach to runway 06 is that pilots are required to fly exactly 160 knots (296 kilometers per hour) until 4 nautical miles (7.4 kilometers) before landing. This is similar to London-Heathrow and other big airports and allows a maximum number of approaches per hour.
During the filmed approach, the pilots flew a low drag / noise approach and minimized fuel consumption. They flew with flaps 3 and a speed of 160 knots until an altitude of 1200 feet and 4 nautical miles before touch down, then they reduced the thrust to idle, extended the landing gear and the flaps to full as final landing configuration. At about 1000 feet above the ground, the flight was fully stabilized on speed and thrust in final landing configuration and "ready" for the landing.
The airplane altimeters show at Schiphol airport -11 feet (minus 4 meters). This is below mean sea level (MSL) and very unusual because most places of the world and even most airports are located at an elevation at or above mean sea level. Reason is that Schiphol airport lies on the bottom of the old Haarlemmer Lake. The lake was drained 1852 and the airport is in use at the same location since 1916.

Great video. Great channel. Thanks for not using music and including ATC.
Thank you very much for your feedback. I will continue making the videos without music.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos smart man, people can always add their own music.
Awesome new channel! You will get popular very fast!
Thank you very much for your friendly words!
this comment didnt age well.
Fantastic! If you have the chance to land in the Buitenveldertbaan (other runway in Schiphol) please record the amazing views of Amsterdam. Amazing content!
Thanks for the suggestion! I fly not that often to Amsterdam. But if I get this approach in good weather, I for sure will record and publish it.
the comforting looks at the traffic jams on (what looks like) the A4. no place like....
Thanks for watching and your feedback!
Espectacular
Thanks!
Mooie beelden
Bedankt!
Is this the approach for after shugol direct SPL
If flew this approach only once and do not remember anymore.
Yeah sugol to SPL
No this is via RIVER
Waarom.was het, this is not oke aan het eind
Thanks for watching and your question! The parking guidance system had a wrong indication for a short while. So we slowed down the airplane and wanted to stop and wait. But after a moment, it showed the correct guidance again. It is somehow difficult to see the indication of the system in the video.
